His eyes, bloodshot with fury, locked on Anneliese. “Murder my wife? Are you seriously fabricating something this vile just to push through a divorce?”

He had reached out to restrain her, yet the footage made it look as though he was shielding Selina–while shoving Anneliese aside.
Anneliese met his livid, wounded stare with icy detachment.
“If you had agreed to end this marriage quietly, I wouldn’t have been forced to go this far. Four years ago, I nearly died in that filthy alley. I survived by nothing but sheer luck. Selina tried to kill me, and you covered it up for her. That makes you complicit, Zacharias. So, calling you a wife–killer isn’t exactly unjust, is it?”
Her gaze didn’t waver–cold, cutting, filled with disdain and unshakable determination.
She had plotted every move, resolute in dismantling this marriage.
When she first traveled to Riveraton to retrieve the recording from Rory, Zacharias hadn’t been concerned.
There hadn’t been enough proof. At worst, it would be an inconvenience–nothing he couldn’t manage.
But with the recording and the incriminating video combined, plus his own wife publicly accusing him of adultery and attempted murder…

That was his answer–his reluctant surrender. Relief uncoiled in her chest, though her body felt heavy, her head spinning with exhaustion.
She slumped against the cushions, limp.
“Tomorrow’s too soon. I’ll have my lawyer draft the divorce papers.” Zacharias muttered, clinging to a last thread of hope.
He consoled himself. Even if they filed tomorrow, the legal process would still take time. Time he could use to win her back.
He refused to believe that the love and tolerance Anneliese had shown him through all these years would simply disappear without a trace.
But Anneliese’s final words crushed the illusion.
“No need. The papers were filed a month ago. Tomorrow, we’re only picking up the finalized decree.”
Zacharias‘ eyes flew open in disbelief.
“What did you just say? We’ve already filed for divorce?”
His voice cracked, unsteady and laced with confusion.
Filed for divorce? A month ago? That’s impossible.

“Exactly. Your dear sister was there too. And I should really thank your mom–when the clerk insisted on a video call to confirm with you, she smoothed it over. She swore you’d authorized her to handle it, even wrote a statement on the spot. That’s how everything was approved.”
