Chapter 211 The Bargain
“Feel anything? Am I out of my mind? If he will really marry Coral and take responsibility for her, I might respect him a little–at least he’ll be standing by someone. But the way he is now? It only makes me sick.”
When a man is having his fun, why doesn’t he blame his mistress? Now that the marriage is ruined, suddenly it’s all on her, and making her get rid of the baby is supposed to mean something? As if that child wasn’t his to begin with. If he’s really all that, why doesn’t he go ahead and cut off his own manhood instead?!
Jonathan listened to her firm, unwavering words, and a slow smile grew in his eyes. Suddenly, he asked, “Are you in a hurry to explain yourself to me?”
Explain what? That I won’t go back to Zacharias Shaw? But why should I be the one rushing to explain myself to Jonathan? Wait, hold on—he asked me the question first!
Anneliese parted her lips to respond, but before she could say anything, he continued as if her answer didn’t matter. “In that case, is that your attempt to get close to me?”
“When I met you, I had no idea you even knew Selina. I did know she had been hung up on some man for years, but it was only at the Whites‘ banquet that I learned that man was you.” Anneliese spoke quickly, nervous under his steady gaze. “Do you believe me?”
Selina had always been good at stirring up trouble. In the past, she only needed to shed a few tears and say a few ambiguous words, and the Whites would take her side every time, never Anneliese’s. It had happened so many times that Anneliese couldn’t be sure Jonathan wouldn’t fall for the same trick.
She bit her lip uneasily, her breathing growing shallow.
“If I doubted you, I wouldn’t have recorded anything, let alone sent you

the recording.”
Hearing that recording had thrown her off balance, made her flustered. But Anneliese didn’t let herself dwell on why she had panicked.
“Well, aren’t you silly…”
Jonathan seemed to laugh quietly, his tone brushing her ears with a warmth that carried a hint of indulgence. The sound sent a shiver through her, her ears burning hot.
“There’s a drone missing. I need to find it. Talk later.”

Jonathan stared at the phone after she hung up, one brow arched.
He turned, just as Zion walked into the office. “Mr. Fullbuster, I looked into it. Selina did go through the proper written and interview process to get her offer. After she was hired, Mrs. Fullbuster did mention to Caden to look out for her, but everything about her recruitment and entry was above board.”
Jonathan gave a short nod. “Have Caden monitor her ability strictly. Don’t let involvement lead to favoritism.”

Business was business. Since Selina had entered the company legitimately, he wouldn’t fire her just because of a few words. She wasn’t worth breaking the rules for.
And keeping her around wasn’t useless either. Just like carlier–he had never truly believed Selina. The reason he sent that recording to Anneliese wasn’t to hear her explanation, but to provoke her rebellious streak.
If Selina went to such lengths to sabotage them, wouldn’t that only make little Annie more determined to push back?
Anneliese was furious. After she located the missing drone, she finished her records and analysis in the lab, then couldn’t resist settling the score with Selina.
‘I know Grandma’s bracelet is still with you. Bring it when you come to see me.
With that, she sent Selina the address of a cafe.
It wasn’t long before Selina walked in.
“If you want the bracelet, you’ll have to agree to one condition.” Selina sat across from Anneliese, face cold.
Anneliese crossed her arms. “You’ve got some nerve. A petty thief like you thinks you can bargain with me? That bracelet is mine, and you’re going to return it. It’s worth a million, but maybe you’d rather have the police open a case instead?”
“Go ahead then, call the police.” Selina wasn’t afraid. After all, Zacharias was the one holding the bracelet now.
Her lips curled. “Be my guest, Anneliese. Let’s see what happens first–you making that call, or me smashing the bracelet. A million–dollar bangle? I can afford to pay up.”
Anneliese’s grip tightened around the porcelain cup, her eyes frosty as her lips pressed into a

Selina smiled. “That’s better. It’s simple. You record a message saying the audio you played at the banquet was fake, that you made it up. And you add that you only got close to Jonathan to upset me. Do that, and I’ll return the bracelet to you without a scratch.”
