waiter notified Zane, who immediately called Jonathan. Together, they rushed over.
Anneliese shrank under the chill of his gaze, torn between anger and helplessness.
She squeezed his hand, stood on tiptoe, and whispered, “I was wrong, hubby… Everyone’s watching. Please don’t embarrass me.”
Her tone softened, playful as she called him hubby.
Jonathan wanted to stay composed, but he found it impossible to do so.
The man’s tightly pressed lips loosened slightly, and the furrow between his brows softened, though an aloof, untouchable air still clung to him.
Anneliese tickled his palm again. “Come on, give me a smile.”
Jonathan clasped her hand, trapping her restless fingers in his warm palm. “You think I’ll smile when you’re not treating me right?”
Anneliese froze. Why can’t he just talk normally?
As they murmured, officers questioned Melanie.
The police stepped forward and prepared to take Mikita and Timothy away.
“You are suspected of child trafficking and abandonment. Come with us to cooperate with the investigation.”
Mikita went pale. She never expected something like this to happen so suddenly.
She turned to Timothy for help, only to see him struggling, already forcibly handcuffed by the police.
“Officer, this is wrong!” Timothy flushed. “I’m Anne’s father–how could I kidnap my own child?”
“We’ll investigate. You’re coming with us now,” the officer said.
Seeing that the officers were clearly acting on Jonathan’s orders, Timothy turned his pleading gaze toward Anneliese and Jonathan, shouting desperately,
“Anne, I’m your father! Don’t do this! Let me explain!”

“Mr. Fullbuster, you married Anne. One day she’ll have your children–I’ll be their grandfather. If you drag me away, your reputation and theirs will suffer! Anne’s acting out. Don’t be reckless!”
But Jonathan and Anneliese stood unmoved, silent as stone.
Timothy then sought help from Perseus and Christopher, but the two brothers turned their faces away coldly.
He had already been willing to leave everything to his illegitimate child. Now, working with the mistress, she had taken their real sister and abandoned her, forcing the mother and two brothers to pour all their care into the illegitimate daughter. They were completely disheartened.
He looked at Melanie, only to meet her eyes filled with hatred.
At this moment, Timothy truly felt the sting of being utterly forsaken.
He was forcibly taken away, while Mikita lagged behind, delayed because she had to get dressed while being escorted.
When Mikita was finally brought out, Jonathan’s voice broke the tense silence.
“She mentioned an old couple earlier. Have her explain.”
At his command, Mikita was immediately brought before him and Anneliese.
Seizing the moment, she dropped to her knees in front of Anneliese, tears streaming down her face as she begged, “Ms. Claude, I was foolish back then. I wronged you! But I know you have the kindest heart. Look at Billy–he’s still so young. He can’t grow up without a mother. Look at how desperately he cries! Please, spare me! If you don’t press charges, I’ll work myself to the bone to repay you.”
She even dragged her young son forward, trying to evoke pity.
Indeed, Billy had been crying pitifully the entire time, but Anneliese’s heart remained unmoved.
Anneliese’s voice was cold. “You know a child needs parents. I was younger than Billy–just days old–when you abandoned me.”
Mikita’s tone turned sharp. “Shameless girl! Even if my daughter forgives you, I won’t. I’ll see you in prison!”
Jonathan’s brows pulled tight. His cold stare silenced her. “Enough.”

Under his gaze, Mikita faltered, then began confessing–how she left the hospital with the baby, met a middle–aged couple longing for a child, how they brightened when she said she couldn’t raise her baby, how they promised to treat the child as their own. She even described the direction they left in.
She tried to add more, but Jonathan had already turned away, signaling the officers with a sharp look.
