Jonathan’s question drained all the color from Selina’s lips. Her face froze, stiff like white cardboard. Her whole day had been chaos, and she hadn’t even thought that far ahead.
“I don’t want to see you bothering her again!” he warned coldly before turning around.
Selina instinctively followed him. “Mr. Fullbuster, I truly had nothing to do with what happened to Anne four years ago, whether you believe it or not. And I was with Zacharias last night!”
However, Jonathan didn’t even stop. He wasn’t interested in who Selina was involved with.
But she then added, “Anne still loves Zacharias!”
Jonathan’s steps faltered, and he turned his head.
Selina smiled, almost triumphant. “It’s true. I was just with him yesterday. But after Anne spoke to him today, he started ignoring me. If Anne is truly over him, why did she have to come between us? I just think you can do better.”
Anneliese couldn’t hear their conversation at first since she was inside the car. However, Selina kept rambling, so she rolled down the window and caught onto her devious words right on time.
She let out a derisive snort and got out of the car. She charged at them and raised her hands to cover Jonathan’s ears while shouting, “Don’t listen to her nonsense! That’s not true!”
Jonathan didn’t think she would get out of the car. She nearly crashed into his arms in her haste, too. With her soft hands sealing his ears, he couldn’t exactly hear her clearly. All he saw were her rosy lips opening and closing, her breath grazing his chin, making it tickle.
Even though he couldn’t hear her, Jonathan could guess what she meant. The frost in his eyes melted away as he smiled.
Selina watched them pressing against each other so closely. Envy burned inside her as she lunged for Anneliese’s long, dark hair.
Jonathan was enthralled by Anneliese, but still noticed Selina’s move. He jerked Anneliese into his embrace and kicked out sharply at the oncoming woman.
“Argh!” Selina crashed to the ground and wailed as she curled up in pain.
“Did she touch you?” Jonathan asked, his arm still wrapped around Anneliese as his gaze swept

He checked her over once more before shooting daggers at Selina, who was still lying crumpled on the road.
The warning in his eyes made her too afraid to even look up.
He then steered Anneliese to turn around. “Let’s go.”

But Anneliese didn’t budge. When Jonathan raised a brow at her, she said, “Wait a second.”
Then, she stepped toward Selina. Her shadow loomed over Selina, who looked up and saw Anneliese’s spotless nude heels. It was so shining that it seemed like something she could never
own.
In that moment, an old memory flashed before Selina’s eyes of the day Anneliese returned to the Whites.
Anneliese was standing awkwardly alone in the living room in her faded jeans and clean but yellowed white sneakers under the crystal chandelier. Meanwhile, Selina came down the stairs in the finest nightdress and a pair of Louis Vuitton slippers worth tens of thousands.
Back then, Selina had sworn not to let Anneliese take what was hers, that she would always keep her beneath her. However, everything seemed to have turned around.
Selina bit her lip hard, clenching onto a few strands of hair in her palm, her heart beating fast. Did Anneliese notice it?
She tried to hide her hand behind her back, but Anneliese seized her by the hair in the next instant and slapped her across the face.
The hatred in Selina’s eyes could no longer be contained while Anneliese stared at her icily.
