He pressed his fingers against his temple with a small, self–mocking smile. Just then, footsteps and voices came from outside the office.
The noise was loud enough to make him even more irritated. His face darkened, and he suddenly pushed his chair back and stood up.
Right at that moment, the heavy double doors of his office swung open, and a figure appeared.
Their eyes met, and both froze.
Jonathan wondered if he was seeing things. The woman he had been thinking about was suddenly standing right in front of him.
Anneliese was just shocked. Wasn’t she told that Jonathan had a stomachache and couldn’t even get out of bed?
He looked fine. His temper was up, and he seemed full of energy.
Zion came in a second later, following Anneliese. When he saw his boss, he started signaling with his eyes.
“Mr. Fullbuster! You’re sick, how could you get up by yourself? I already told Mr. Tanner to handle things at the base. You shouldn’t be thinking about work right now. Look, Mrs. Fullbuster got so worried after hearing you were sick that she rushed here to take care of you.”
Zion had wanted to surprise Jonathan, but the surprise almost turned into a disaster.
Things were about to fall apart.
He blinked hard and rushed toward Jonathan, afraid that he wouldn’t play along.
Luckily, Jonathan caught on quickly. He glanced at Zion, then the next second, his tall body swayed, and he fell back into the chair. He weakly held his stomach and said to Anneliese, “It’s nothing serious. Why did you come all the way here?”
Anneliese quickly stepped forward and crouched in front of him.
“You have stomach problems? Does it hurt a lot?”
When Jonathan met her worried eyes, he felt guilty and looked away.

He hurried forward, pushed open the lounge door, and stood there with a wide, eager grin.
Anneliese helped Jonathan into the lounge. It wasn’t a big space, but it had everything—a bed, couch, closet, and bathroom.
She unbuttoned his suit jacket, took it off, and tossed it on the couch. Then she reached for his tie and said, “Take off your pants too.”
“What?”
“What do you mean, what? Are you going to do it yourself, or should I help you?”
Seeing him still standing there looking dazed, as if he could start working again any second, she got even more annoyed.
She didn’t realize that to Jonathan, her bossy, scolding look was actually adorable.
He tried not to laugh and lifted his hand weakly, “You help me.”
Zion, who was still by the door, couldn’t hold back anymore. Seeing Jonathan pretending to be frail made him burst out laughing.
Jonathan frowned and shot him a sharp look.
Zion turned around right away. “Mrs. Fullbuster, I’ll leave Mr. Fullbuster to you. I’ll wait outside.”
He disappeared in a flash.
