Anneliese sat up quickly and looked herself over.
She was wearing a loose hospital gown. Her waist and stomach ached, but there was nothing unusual between her legs.
She let out a sigh of relief just as the door opened.
Clutching the blanket, she looked up nervously. It was Jessica.
“Annie, you’re awake! Do you feel any discomfort?”
Jessica walked over, and Anneliese grabbed her hand.
“I’m fine. My neck just hurts a little. I don’t even know where I hit it. Who brought me here? And who changed my
clothes?”
“You don’t remember anything? Don’t worry, that b*stard didn’t get the chance to do anything. Mr. Fullbuster rushed in and saved you. He brought you here, and the nurse should have been the one who changed your clothes.”

So, it really was him.
The image of the man breaking in flashed through her mind again, and she let out a breath. “Are you sure it was the nurse?”
“Uh, I’m not completely sure. I stayed at the hotel to deal with the video, so I got there later.”
Talking about it made Jessica a little guilty.

Anneliese’s voice tightened, and Jessica quickly tried to calm her.
“I destroyed everything. I cut the card into pieces, smashed the camera, and that b*stard Jameson is basically half crippled now. Don’t worry.”
Anneliese exhaled and stayed quiet for a while.
But Jessica misunderstood and added quickly, “Don’t worry, I checked. There aren’t any marks or hickeys on you. Mr. Fullbuster didn’t do anything. Honestly, I even wonder if something’s wrong with him. Leaving such a gorgeous woman like you alone after you were drugged–if it’s not that he can’t, maybe it’s his orientation…”
“I wasn’t worried!” Anneliese cut her off before she went further. “I just think this whole thing isn’t that simple.”
“You think someone told Jameson to do it?”
Jessica caught on right away.
Anneliese nodded. “How did Jameson and Jacques know so fast that I broke up with Zacharias?”
At first, she thought it was because Zacharias‘ affair had already spread around their circle, which made Jacques and Jameson show up again.
But now she realized both of them appeared only after she officially filed for divorce.
She didn’t even need to think too hard to know there was someone behind it.
Melody was ruthless.
“So, you already know who’s behind it.”
At that moment, a deep, steady voice spoke,
Anneliese looked over and saw Jonathan walking in.

He wore an Eastern–style shirt buttoned all the way up to his collarbone. Over it was a collarless, minimalist blazer, paired with light gray straight–leg trousers. The look was casual but had a restrained, serious feel.
When their eyes met, her chest tightened. Her hands gripped the sheets under the blanket.
She looked away, her face warming.
What scared her more than blurred memories was the blank space where she couldn’t remember anything at all.
She had no idea what happened after he carried her out of the hotel room.
Wait–when had he come in?
How much had he heard? Hopefully not what Jessica had just said.
Panicked, she glanced at Jessica, but her friend wasn’t dependable.
Ignoring her silent plea for help, Jessica jumped up. “Oh! I just remembered, I have another client waiting for me. Anyway, you’re fine now. The doctor said you can leave once you wake up. Since Mr. Fullbuster is here, let him take you home. I’ll head out first!”
As she spoke, she gave Anneliese a quick wink that clearly meant “Good luck, girl,” and dashed out of the room.
“Mr. Fullbuster, I’ll go ask the doctor about her discharge,” Zion said as he set the thermos on the bedside table. Then he followed after, even closing the door neatly behind him.
