Tandon thanked Professor Croft and left the foreign languages advisor’s office like a zombie.
Professor Croft watched Landon’s clearly dejected back, feeling a bit confused. Wasn’t Landon Elodie’s cousin? Why was he suddenly so concerned about
Melody?
After Landon left, a professor sitting next to Professor Croft immediately started gossiping.
Trofessor Craft, 1 heard from students a while back that our Northwood campus heartthrob was dating Melody from your class. I thought they were joking, but seeing this, it must be true.”
Isn’t Landon supposed to be a total player? This is the first time I’ve ever seen him look so devastated. I never would have thought quiet little Melody had it in
her.”
Professor Croft didn’t respond. He couldn’t help but remember when Melody had come to see him two days ago, looking just as lost and heartbroken as Landon
did now.
Before, he hadn’t understood why Melody would turn down such a great opportunity.
He knew her family wasn’t well-off.
But this exchange was fully funded by the university. Besides, Melody had been a recipient of Northwood’s highest scholarship since she enrolled, so it Befinitely wasn’t about money.
Fortunately, even though Melody didn’t seem to be in a good state, she ultimately decided to go to France for the exchange.
Now, seeing Landon, Professor Croft felt he finally understood Melody’s unusual behavior.
He sighed and shook his head.
He didn’t know what had happened between them, but as an academic advisor, it really wasn’t his place to interfere in students’ personal relationships.
By now, Landon had dazedly walked out of the foreign languages building. He wandered aimlessly through the Northwood campus, as if his soul had been ipped out.

Landon remembered what Elodie had told him. “Landon, the reason Mel decided to go abroad after already turning down the spot was because of you.”
Mel said that at Northwood, no matter how much she tried to avoid it, she would always run into you or hear your name. So she decided to start over omewhere new.”

Landon used to think that regret and tears were the two most useless things in the world. But now, because of Melody’s departure, he felt his eyes begin to sting
