Chapter 36
Now, two years later, seeing him in the sweater, Melody had to admit, good looking people look good in anything.
Melody murmured a “hmm.” averted her gaze, and sat down in the seat opposite him
Out of her sight. Landon’s lips curved into a triumphant smile.
It was true he had been wearing this sweater for two years, but today, he had worn it specifically for their meeting.
After all, compared to dinner, he had something much more important to do today-confess his feelings to Melody.
Not long after Melody sat down, the waiter brought their food,
Seeing the dishes on the table, Melody couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, because they were all her favorites.
She was a bit surprised. Landon had, without her realizing, become so familiar with her preferences.
Her impression of him was still stuck on the clueless boy she had pampered, loved, and accommodated.
But now, he had transformed into a man who could meticulously attend to her every preference and feeling.
He would pull out her chair, cut her steak into small pieces, and hand her a napkin at just the right moment.
If Elodie hadn’t repeatedly assured her otherwise, Melody would have almost suspected that this considerate Landon hadn’t actually been single for the past two
years.
After all, the way he was now was a far cry from the playboy he had been two years ago.
Landon seemed to see through her thoughts. He smiled faintly and asked, “What’s wrong, Mel? Looking at me like that, do you think I’ve changed a lot?”
Caught, Melody didn’t feel awkward. She agreed, “You have. You’ve really changed a lot. You even know how to take care of people now.”
Landon smiled. “Hearing you say that, I must have been a real jerk before. I guess Elodie never told you, I’ve always been good at taking care of people. Especially the person I like. For them, I’d do even better.”
But when it comes to people I don’t like, my attitude is still pretty much the same. I’ve always been someone who wears my heart on my sleeve.”
Hearing him mention the word “like” again, Melody couldn’t help but feel her face flush.
‘Oh, so that’s how it is. I guess I don’t know you well enough.”
Landon seemed to find her shyness adorable. He couldn’t help but ask, “Mel, I’ve always wanted to ask you, why did you like me so much two years ago? I was clearly acting like a jerk back then.”
She hadn’t expected him to ask this, but she answered truthfully.
“I don’t really know either. Maybe it started when you comforted me on the rooftop. I think I fell for you then. I was being bullied, and you were the first and only person to comfort me. For many years after that, I followed your advice and walked the path of becoming a better person.”
“And don’t sell yourself short. At least in the eyes of the entire school, you’ve always been known as one of Northwood’s top students. A jerk, not really.”
Candon’s smile deepened. After all, who doesn’t like being praised by the person they like?
So after Melody finished speaking, Landon said, “Mel, since you don’t think I’m that bad, then let’s get back together, okay?”
