Chapter 5
Melody returned to her dorin, her mind a million miles away.
The moment she got back, Elodie ran over, hungry for all the gossip about the previous night.
Melody was in a deep funk. It wasn’t until they were at the cafeteria that she finally told Elodie everything that had happened that morning, from start to finish.
“What? How could my cousin treat you like that? So what are you going to do? Are you really going to say yes?”
Melody listlessly picked at her food. Just as she was about to speak, she heard a commotion at the entrance.
Melody looked up and saw Landon walking in, and right beside him was the campus sweetheart from the finance department.
A campus god and goddess walking together, acting all chummy-no wonder it was causing such a stir.
The gloom in Melody’s heart deepened. Landon walked right past her table without a single glance in her direction.
“Tm full, Elodie. I’m going to head out.” She said, keeping her head down as she scrambled to get up and leave.
But she couldn’t help thinking that he really didn’t care about her feelings at all. He said he’d give her three days to think, but he couldn’t even wait one day before having someone else by his side.
Melody felt an overwhelming urge to cry, but she held it back.
She had no idea what to do. She liked Landon so much, but those conditions for being his girlfriend, she just couldn’t accept them with a clear conscience.
On the third day, early in the morning, her roommate snuck back from another dorm, bursting with gossip.
I heard Leah refuses to give up on Landon. She’s going to try and get back with him again today.”
‘She’s so proud. Would she really do something so humiliating?”
Well, she’s into Landon, what can you do? But I doubt it’ll work. Our golden boy never goes back to an ex.”
You never know. What if he feels sorry for her and says yes?”
Melody lay in her bed, quietly listening to their gossip, her heart in turmoil.
n the afternoon, she wandered aimlessly around campus and found herself in front of the law school building.
And there, she saw Leah blocking Landon’s path, pointing at the girl next to him.
You dumped me for her?”
andon frowned. “Leah, I told you, a clean break.”
ut to everyone’s surprise, Leah, who had always been so arrogant, actually started crying. “Why won’t you get back with me? I told you I’d change my spoiled
ttitude.”
But Landon remained cold and unmoved.
n the end, Leah could only leave in tears. After she left, the finance department sweetheart had a victorious look on her face.
he looked at Landon boldly. “Since you’re not getting back with Leah, then, how about giving it a shot with me?”
Melody had to admit, watching the endless stream of girls by his side made her feel sick to her stomach.
Looking at the two of them from a distance, Melody was driven by an emotion she couldn’t control, compelling her to walk over.
Landon Crow!”
Both he and the girl were stunned. Melody summoned all her courage, walked up to his side, and ignored the hostile glare from the other girl.
I’ve thought it over. I accept your conditions.”
