Even as Landon walked her to the entrance of the women’s dorm, Melody was still in a complete daze.
She didn’t even know how she had found the courage to take that step.
I wasn’t until she saw dozens of heads popping out from the balconies above, all looking down at her, that she felt too embarrassed to look at Landon.

t was the first time in his life someone had tried to shoo him away. He looked up at the dozens of pairs of eyes, then at Melody’s blushing profile, and leaned in lose to her right eat. “You’d better get used to this, my girlfriend.”

And the news of Landon walking her back spread through the women’s dorm like wildfire.

lodie wrapped an arm around Melody’s shoulders and gave her a thumbs-up.
ompletely unprepared, Melody began her life as Landon’s girlfriend. Even late into the night, it all still felt a bit unreal.
ying alone in bed, unable to sleep, she opened up the chat with Landon, whose number she had just added. She wanted to talk to him, but then she emembered he’d said he didn’t like clingy girlfriends, so she quietly closed the app.
Whatever, this is fine, she thought. You can’t be too greedy when you’ve already gotten what you wished for.
eep down, a small sliver of hope remained. Even though Landon probably wasn’t serious right now, if she gave him one hundred percent of her heart, maybe e would give her a little bit of his in return?
nd so, after they started dating, Melody fulfilled the duties of a perfect girlfriend one hundred percent.
he never argued, never caused trouble, she was obedient and understanding. She didn’t take up too much of his personal time, nor did she ever ask him to go hopping with her or buy her gifts.
he only thing she ever initiated was inviting him to study with her at the library.
he first time they went to the movies together, Landon got a call halfway through about something important. Melody didn’t get mad at all. Not only did she nderstandingly let him go, but after finishing the movie by herself, she even diligently summarized the plot of the second half for him.

ne afternoon, a torrential downpour hit. Melody was in her dorm rushing an assignment when she suddenly got a call from Landon’s roommate.

In the other end, the roommate’s voice was panicked. “He’s always had stomach problems. He just called asking where the stomach medicine was, and I just emembered we ran out. His stomach issues are really bad, and none of us are on campus, so you were the only one I could call.”
Melody shot up from her chair. “Okay, I’ve got it.”
he also suffered from stomach pains, so after finding a few boxes of medicine, she clutched them to her chest, glanced at the heavy rain outside, and ran out with an umbrella without a moment’s hesitation.
n weather this windy and rainy, an umbrella was practically useless.
When she knocked on the door to Landon’s dorm, Melody was soaked from head to toe, but the stomach medicine she held in her arms was perfectly dry.
Landon frowned as he let her into the dorm. “What are you doing here?”
Seeing how pale his face was from the pain, Melody immediately took out the medicine. “I heard your stomach was killing you. Here, take this.”

After giving him the medicine and telling him to lie down, strange emotion flickered in his usually nonchalant eyes.
Melody, on the other hand, seeing him staring, thought it was because she looked like such a mess. She looked down, embarrassed. “You g go now… Mmph!”
He suddenly hooked his arm around her neck, pulling her down until their lips met. Melody’s eyes flew wide open.
