Whit looked relieved to see her awake and Milly cried a lot as she stood on the chair next to her bed , where Parker had placed her and stayed her , to keep her from climbing up on the bed , explained to her that she shouldnt , stated the words Mummys not so well , how about your hold her hand instead .
Which Milly had looked up at him and then nodded tearfully , but done as she was asked , and hed stood there and patted Millys back .
Annette had come in and seen the children were up and awake and told her shed wait on the explanation until later .
She understood that , as she didnt want to upset the children , who already looked upset , she didnt want Whit or Milly to hear the details , and she knew they werent going to be .
Not considering she had an incision down the middle of her chest and a clear dressing over the top of it .
She had internal sutures from what she could tell .
It wasnt often youd find a wolf male or female with a scar like what she was going to have .

She didnt even know what had happened and could only guess at it until the children were gone from the room .
That didnt happen until it was breakfast time and Parker insisted on them going to the packhouse with him for that , to let her be checked on by the doctor and give her some more rest .
Shed smiled at him and thanked him .
Hed nodded , knew she couldnt mind link to Annette or himself to get answers and was likely protecting both Whit and Milly from hearing something they didnt need to at their age .
It was nice to see him just pick Milly up and her little girl sit comfortably on his hip like she belonged there .
Hed managed to distract her from being worried about leaving the room by asking her about what kind of pancakes she wanted for breakfast .
Whit had chimed in and talked happily about Milly being able to have her favourite blueberry pancakes , told her that they couldnt get them here in the hospital , only in the packhouse , teasingly stated , Not even dad can make them .

That was something to think about .

A part of her wanted to rip Parker a new one when she saw how much blood hed given , but hed also saved her life in doing so .
So , she had no right to be mad at him at the same time .
But as the Alpha to a Pack , he should have put the pack first .
She wasnt his Mate and he shouldnt have felt the need to do that .
The man had risked his own life , when hers was already out on a limb , so to speak .
She closed her eyes after putting the file down .
Annette had told her she wasnt actively healing, and didnt during the surgery either , though she could sense that Bella had a wolf .
But she knew Freya was gone .
She focused on herself as she lay there and tried to sense out that wolf shed seen attacking Freya quite violently inside her mind ; not that Freya had cared at all .
Her mind was heavy, like there was a wolf in there , but there was no active thinking on its part , and she tried to talk to that beast , didnt even know what her name was , or if she could connect to her .
But she could feel her , that was she thought the important thing .
Maybe all that aggression shed seen was a good thing for her wolf to feel , to have anger within her , considering what she recalled Freya telling her , about her wolf , that she wouldnt fight , but would submit easily .
Bella didnt want a wolf that would just roll over and do as she was told at every turn .
Shed lived her life doing that , because she thought of Freya , but now she wondered if shed been like that because of her own wolf , so it was likely her own nature as well .
If Freya had 100 simply stopped all emotions from filtering to her and her wolf to stop her wolfs heart from being broken by that rejection clause in her and Parkers mating alliance .
She didnt much like the thought of it , but maybe in her own way Freya thought she was helping her to realise she didnt always have to give others what they wanted , to be able to say no .
Something she could and did do .
When a man asked her out or offered himself up for a night of s * x .
She could actually say no if she wasnt in the mood or not attracted to him .
Maybe without Freya she couldnt do that .
And now she could pick and choose who she wanted to sleep with , and she had done that at Alpha College and inside the Hollowed Moon .
