86 Parker Parker smiled and led the way out of the packhouse to the back ; that pool area was kind of like a five star resort pool , and he was proud to have it in his pack for his wolves to hang out in .
It was always busy out here after winter had passed .
There were plenty of children out here right now playing and splashing about ; being that they were on wolfen school break , two solid weeks off school , they were always happy with that .
He walked them down to where the diving boards were .
It was a full Olympic diving area , with not only the ten meter high dive but also a three , five and seven and a half meter diving boards .
And it had its own fenced off pool .
This part of the swim zone was only available after 4pm on a daily basis .
He watched his son , who was just nine and a half , look up at it .
Not many his age would jump off the ten meter platform .
Or be allowed to even go up there .
But he was taller than most kids his age , was almost as tall as 12 year olds , and he would likely meet the minimum height requirement that Parker had in place for those jumping off it for fun .
Not that , that was always avoidable .
Kids would be kids and dare each other to jump off it at a younger age .
Theyd sneak out here and egg each other on when there were no adults around .
Typical children ; thankfully , so far none had been injured .
There was a roaming random patrol to help stop it in the middle of the night .
He was watching Whit as he looked up at it and saw Belladonna try to hide a laugh behind her hand as she too watched their boy , and he realised she was playing with their son .
He couldnt help but smile , she looked so very happy right that minute .
Hed learned over the past six months she was a very different person to who had been here inside his pack .
She drank and hung out with many people , played a lot with the kids in that pack and loved having the orphans around her.
Shed raised Whitney well .
He was a happy child and got along with everyone.
Didnt rise to anger or not that hed seen , kind of had her mild mannered temperament , he thought .
But she was hed noted tormentative towards not only Whit and Milly , but all the children .
Being away from him and his pack had allowed her to become who she was meant to be .
He liked seeing her like this all the time , and she would sit and chat with him , laugh at things he said , or his unit said and not once did she do anything or say anything to Whit that would see him in a bad light .

The boy saw them get along and laugh with each other at times , they could sit and have a drink together .
There wasnt really any awkwardness between them at all .
Which was a good thing considering his son already knew what he wanted , and didnt seem to object to his thoughts on the matter .
Maybe Whitney liked the idea of his parents getting back together .
Whitney , he saw , swallowed hard as he stood and watched one of Parkers pack members get ready to dive off that top platform and then dive from it .
Parker chuckled and nudged him a little .
Youre not old enough to be up there anyway .
You need to be 13 before freely allowed to jump off it any time you like .
he told him , Your mother is tormenting you … I also dont think she has ever jumped off it herself .
What !! Whitney turned to look at him and then turned to stare at Belladonna .
But you said .
No , I never said I did … I just asked you what do you think ? she snorted , fully amused .
I havent , Im also not about to , not my thing .
Youre so mean .
Whitney murmured .
It was funny though , watching you get all puffed up and be all pure blooded Alpha pup , and Im not scared of anything , then look up there and realised you were scared .
She laughed , and dodged out of the way of Whitney trying to hit her .
Parker chuckled again .
It was fun to watch them interact .
Hed seen it a lot over the past six months , hed not been wrong all those years ago about her being a good mother .
She was just that , loving and caring but tormentative and fun at the same time as well .
Though this very moment , he thought it stemmed from Belladonna knowing Whitney was pure blooded and couldnt resist a challenge even at his age .
Whitney turned back to him .
I didnt think we were allowed to compete against humans in sports because we have an unfair advantage .
There are rules and there are some things we are allowed to compete in , things that dont involve our strength and speed .
So we are allowed to compete in things like diving , because its about practice and skill , not strength or speed .
And they would be ? Whitney asked .
Hmm , so no swimming or running , any kind of athletics is off limits or team sports , no weight lifting or even gymnastics .
But things like diving , shooting , sailing and equestrian events are allowed .
He nodded .
Winter sports ? Whit asked .

The freestyle skiing , thats where youll see wolves complete the most on things like the aerial ski jump and moguls , and the half pipe .
Things that are about natural speed and on an inclined run are okay .
Things like speed skating , ice hockey , where we can put more muscle into things are not allowed , He told him .
Are you interested in that ? I like white water rafting and I know its an event .
Hmm , that wouldnt be allowed , any more than rowing , sorry .
Its all about the turns and you having wolfen strength , you can use that to win , and thats considered cheating .
What if I was willing to be cuffed ? Still no .
Parker shook his head .
Sorry Whitney , it seems a bit unfair , I know , but we are much stronger than humans .
Its to keep them reaching for goals and achieving new heights as a species on their own .
It kind of sucks .
Whit muttered .
Yes , and even more so for those that attend human school and want to be on the football or basketball teams , ice hockey teams .
They have scouts that want to hunt them for universities and a wolf cant accept it , not ever .
Especially if their inline to take over .
Sorry , kind of a backhand to those with strong bloodlines .
A downside to being wolfen .
Belladonna stated , Better of focusing on academics .
Yeah , like all parents dont want that , get good grades and study hard , Whit muttered .
Both he and Belladonna laughed at him for that one .
It was a typical response human or wolfen , to a parent telling them to do good in school .
You know you can still enjoy all those things you like to do , just cant turn it into a career is all .
Parker smiled down at him .
Mum said theres a lake with lots of water sports to do .
Whitney stated .
There is , you can go sailing in small boats , kayaking and canoeing , skiing and fishing .
The lake has designated spaces due to submerged trees , predominantly its used for skiing and fishing by the humans .
Any rivers for rafting ? Whitney asked .
No , there is , however , a couple of white water rafting places in the city .
An hour away , we could go and do that if you like .
Parker nodded .
Hed checked that out for himself so he could find places to take Whitney for bonding experiences and fun as well .
There was a nice new 3/4 86 +8 Point : water park that had just opened up as well .
Just the two of us ? Whitney asked , frowning a little .
No , a group of us would go .
How about I introduce you to the children of my unit ? Im certain theyd all enjoy going on a day trip .
Your mother and Milly would be included in that as well .
He smiled at Whitney .
He watched Whitney think about it and then just nodded after a moment .
When will I meet them ? he asked .
I Now , if you like , I can have them come to the foyer and introduce you to them .
Would you like that ? he asked , knowing it was actually a very big step for Whitney , it could almost be seen as he was wanting to meet his future unit .
Parker looked at Belladonna to see if it was okay ; she didnt seem concerned about it , and really wished he could mind link to her to know if it was okay in her eyes to do something like this .
Though like him , she seemed to just want Whitney to be happy and do things at his own pace .
She smiled at him and nodded .
She seemed to understand what he was silently asking .
Alright , Whitney told him after almost a full minute of silence and contemplation , he also had to know what it kind of meant .
He wasnt taking this trip lightly at all , Parker realised , he was actually not just here to see the pack , but to see what could potentially be his one day as the heir .
