Sebastian glanced at Ashton, whose anger was still visibly climbing, then at Briar standing nearby, whose face betrayed no emotion whatsoever. And for some reason, he shivered.
He asked, “Mr. Ashton Wade, may I call Mr. Thiago Wade to report this?”
This was clearly far beyond his pay grade. It was better to let Thiago handle it.
Ashton did not stop him and nodded. “Make the call. And tell Uncle Thiago’s team to run an internal check
too.”
Sebastian quickly stepped aside to make the call.
He didn’t dare to hide anything and reported the incident in full detail.
Thiago, who had been calm, was so angry he nearly smashed his phone. He then started yelling, “What… Sebastian, are you dumber than Aarish? How could you let something this stupid happen under your watch?”
Sebastian had already braced himself for the scolding, so he wisely held the phone at arm’s length.
Thiago’s angry shouts could be heard clearly even from a distance.
Sebastian’s face flushed bright red. Catching the scrutinizing looks from Ashton and the others, he could only stammer in embarrassment, “Yes! You’re right. I’m an idiot, an even bigger idiot than Aarish.”
Briar was speechless.
Ashton stepped down harder on the scar–faced man’s neck, watching as the man’s face turned red from lack of air. “This is your last chance. Talk. Who’s your boss?”
Briar had already searched the man head to toe and found nothing useful, not even an implanted tracker chip.
“He must be their accomplice. There are no clues on him, not even a tracker. This means this was his last job,” Briar said coldly.
They all knew that an agent who had been undercover with the enemy for years was required to have a tracking chip implanted for every mission.
First, to provide their boss with their location. Second, to prevent them from being turned by the enemy and becoming traitors.
But if no chip was found inside him, it could only mean one thing. This was his final mission. A suicide
mission.
Clearly, this scar–faced man had been sent to kill all the captured enemies before they could be interrogated.
Ashton’s expression also grew cold as he grasped the hidden meaning in Briar’s words. “It’s fine. Once they’re in our hands, we can make anyone talk.”

Hamish and Reece also raised their hands and said, “That’s right. Let us handle the interrogation. We guarantee we’ll get the whole story.”
Hamish was incredibly curious about what kind of force was behind this, one that repeatedly dared to test Ashton’s limits.
Ashton was not as easygoing as them. They might show mercy, but when angered, he preferred to eradicate threats completely, taking down the entire operation.
Sebastian finally returned from the call, looking like he’d just been through a storm. He moved closer to Ashton and said in a hushed voice, “Mr. Ashton Wade, Mr. Thiago Wade asked me to relay a message. He will give you an explanation for this. For now, he wants us to take the man.”
Ashton looked at Briar. “Darling, what do you think?”
He trusted Thiago completely, but Briar’s decision mattered more.
Briar glanced down at the scar–faced man. “This one stays. You can take the rest.”
Sebastian nodded immediately. “Of course, of course. This one is yours to deal with.”
As soon as Briar gave the word, Sebastian waved for his men to carry the others out. He wasn’t about to risk leaving them here any longer. If anything else went wrong, Thiago really would have his hide.
Once everyone had been loaded into the trucks, Sebastian gave a quick bow. “Mr. Wade, we’ll head back now.”
“Go ahead. Tell Uncle Thiago we’ll see him tomorrow,” Ashton said with a dismissive wave.
Sebastian practically bolted, not daring to look back.
Hamish chuckled. “Look at him run. Like he’s being chased by monsters.”
Reece pointed to their group. “With us standing here, we’re scarier than monsters.”
Hamish said, “Could you not have chosen a better word? Who describes themselves as monsters?”
Reece chuckled. “I can’t help it. We’re too notorious for our own good.”
“Should we sweep the place again?” Ashton ignored their banter and turned back to Briar, whose attention had shifted elsewhere.
Briar shook her head. “No need. I doubt there’s anything useful left.”
Anything of value had likely been destroyed long ago. They wouldn’t have just left evidence here waiting to be
found.
“Then let’s go. Don’t overthink it. We’ve got them where we want them now. Settling accounts is only a matter of days.” Ashton took Briar’s hand and led her towards the cave entrance.
Hamish and Reece followed, and soon the four of them were driving away.

Not long after they left, a car slowly pulled up from the other side. The window rolled down, revealing Emily
and Beatrice inside.
“We’re too late. They’ve been captured! What do we do?” Beatrice watched the car leave, her voice filled with
hatred.
Emily shot her an amused glance. “What? Haven’t you accepted the fact that you’re no match for Briar?”
Beatrice stammered, “You… Don’t think you’re safe just because you’ve avoided Ashton’s surveillance for now
“A bastard child who doesn’t even know where she came from dares to use the Wade family name?” Emily snorted. Once, she might have feared Ashton. But now…
He was no longer a part of the Wade family. Emily was not afraid of him anymore.
Beatrice wanted to argue that Ashton’s power extended far beyond just the Wade Group.
But seeing the crazed, venomous expression on Emily’s face, Beatrice held her tongue.
It didn’t matter to her anyway. She only wished for everyone’s downfall.
“By the
way,
wasn’t your dad arrested? How is he? Still alive?” Emily suddenly asked.
Beatrice’s expression stiffened. “I don’t know…”
This woman was truly vicious. Her dad was fine, yet she was cursing him to death.
Her dad had a powerful boss protecting him, so he would surely be safe.
Her father had paid them millions of dollars. When the storm broke, they’d make sure he got out of Dasmieca safely.
Emily scoffed. She didn’t miss the smug look on Beatrice’s face. She thought Beatrice was just as foolish as her father to think their efforts would guarantee a good outcome. ‘How ridiculous!”
Edgar had only donated 30 million dollars. The first and second branches of the Wade family spent so much money and still got nothing for it.
If Len hadn’t promised to protect them, the first and second branches of the family would have been dragged down when he fell.
