Emily irritably rolled the window back up. “They’re long gone. Are you going to drive or not? Don’t forget why we’re out here.”
Beatrice was furious but dared not speak. With Edgar still missing, her safety, along with her mother’s and brother’s, was not guaranteed.
Once she found her father and got him to tell her where the secret files were hidden, she’d make Emily pay
Beatrice thought, ‘Does she think she’s so great just because they kicked Ashton out?
Lost in their own thoughts, neither of them spoke.
On the way back, Reece drove while Ashton coaxed Briar into the back seat.
Her emotions were still too volatile. There was no way he’d let her drive right now.
As for the scar–faced man, he was bound tight and tossed into the trunk.
Just as the car entered the main road, Reece glanced at the rearview mirror, sighed softly, and said. “We’re being followed.”
Hamish, in the passenger seat, looked up from his phone, glanced at the rearview mirror, and raised an eyebrow. “Who is this moron? Their tailing skills are awful. Who tries to follow us that blatantly?”
Traffic was light, and the car behind them was glued to their bumper, less than 300 feet back. It was like they
were amateurs.
Ashton frowned. “That car looks familiar.”
Briar was already pulling up traffic camera footage. A few seconds later, she smiled. “Of course it looks familiar. It’s Emily’s car.
The other three fell silent.
They were foolish to follow someone while driving their own car. It was like they wanted everyone to know who they were.
“And it’s not just Emily in the car. Beatrice is there too, Briar added quietly.
“Why are those two together again? What are they following us for? Could they be here for Edgar?‘ Reece asked, confused.
Briar replied, “Most likely. After all, Edgar was originally sent to this deserted mountain pass.”
Hamish turned his attention back to his phone. Emily and Beatrice were not a threat to them.
Briar handed the phone to Ashton. “You watch the monitor. I don’t want to see that woman.”

Ashton sighed helplessly. Ashton sighed helplessly.
“No need. Let them follow. I want to see what they are up to,” Briar said, stopping Ashton as he was about to make a call, her eyes turning cold.
Ashton’s heart ached for her. “We should just send them out of the country. That way, she’ll stop showing up to bother you.”
Acting within the country could cause unnecessary trouble, so sending them abroad was the better option. Once they were abroad, they could deal with those two women whatever they wanted.
Briar waved her hand dismissively. “Beatrice can’t die yet. She has to die after Edgar. I want her to watch with her own eyes as the man she and her mother clung to dies miserably.”
Back then, Halle had tormented her mother so viciously. Now, it was time to make them taste that pain for themselves.
Hamish turned his attention back to his phone. Considering Emily and Beatrice posed no threat, he chimed in, “I agree with Briar. Nobody in the Jennings family is any good. We shouldn’t let them off easy.”
Reece said, “Exactly. Do you really think the rest of the Jennings family was completely in the dark about what Edgar did? I bet Camden knew something.”
Edgar was grooming Camden to be his successor in the Jennings family. While Camden wasn’t particularly capable, he was cunning and had learned all of Edgar’s tricks.
There was no way Edgar joined an underground lab without leaking even a hint of it to his chosen successor.
Edgar had been captured, and Beatrice was following them to see if they had him.
They wondered who sent her and why she took such a huge risk. Could Camden be pulling the strings?
Ashton had no choice but to nod. “Alright, let them follow. Reece, don’t drive too fast, or they’ll lose us.”
Reece replied, “Alright, I’ll slow down.”
It was rather amusing that the people being followed had to accommodate the driving skills of those tailing them.
The car drove smoothly into Moonspring Estate. Since Emily’s car was not registered for access, they could only park far from the community entrance.
“What should we do? We can’t get in!” Beatrice rolled down the window and frantically looked around.
Emily yanked Beatrice back. “Ashton might have his people here. If you get caught snooping around, don’t drag me down with you.”
If her legs weren’t disabled, Emily wouldn’t have wanted to come out with this idiot.
She was completely clueless about why Camden would send an idiot like Beatrice to do this job.

After Emily’s reminder, Beatrice finally understood. She asked, “Then… since we were following their car the whole time, could we have been spotted already?”
Emily closed her eyes, trying to contain her anger. “No. If they had spotted us, they would have intercepted us on the road by now.”
“Okay, then. As long as we haven’t been discovered, we still have a chance.” Beatrice thought that made sense and asked Emily pleasantly, “Emily, think of a way for us to get in.”
As long as she could find where Ashton and Briar had taken Edgar, she was willing to ignore Emily’s scornful looks.
Emily thought for a moment before making a call. “Hey, your idiot ex–boyfriend. Does he live in Moonspring Estate?”
A few minutes later, a black Rolls–Royce drove out of the community entrance, circled around, and stopped beside their car.
With the driver’s help, Beatrice lifted the injured Emily into the Rolls–Royce. The car then drove smoothly into the community.
The guard at the gate only glanced at them before opening it. He did not even ask about the two extra women in the car.
Nothing was ever too strange in the world of the rich.
The car drove slowly through the neighborhood. As they passed Ashton’s villa, they saw Reece and Hamish carrying a blood–soaked man into the building.
The man’s back was to them, so they could not see his face, but his build looked similar to Edgar’s.
Beatrice became agitated. If Emily had not stopped her, she would have told the driver to stop the car and rushed out to save him.
Emily glanced at the driver and whispered a warning, “Calm down. The two of us cannot possibly save him on
our own.”
