Chapter 331
Back to those bodyguards who had been scared off by Ashton.
When they fled from the villa, every single one of them looked pale as paper. Standing in front of Emily and Beatrice, their expressions toward the two women had completely changed.
The two women looked at them with both shock and surprise.
They probably never thought those bodyguards could get out of Ashton’s house alive.
If it weren’t for the fact that they were still technically Wade family bodyguards, the men would have loved to give each of these women a good, hard slap.
They had seen people set others up before, but never quite like this.
These women didn’t dare to risk their own lives, so they used the bodyguards to test the waters.
“Miss Wade, we were no match for Ashton. He told us to get lost, so we did,” the lead bodyguard said, ignoring Emily’s furious glare.
Emily was furious with her bodyguards.
The Wade family fed and housed them, and they couldn’t get the job done, just because they were outmatched.
But since they had already run back, there was no way to force them to go again.
Besides, all the bodyguards were giving her hostile looks. Emily was afraid they would actually rebel.
She could only glare at each of them before waving them away.
Beatrice watched from the side, the undisguised contempt clear in her eyes.
She smirked inwardly, ‘So much for being the young lady of the Wade family. Is that it? You can’t even order around your own family’s bodyguards, and you still dare show off in front of me? Looks like I’ll have to take matters into my own hands.
Beatrice let out a loud, scornful snort. Ignoring the awful look on Emily’s face, she pulled out her phone to call for backup right in front of her.
She asked, “We’re already inside Moonspring Estate, Are your people in position yet?”
Whatever the person on the other end said made Beatrice’s eyes crinkle with glee. “Great. We’ll wait right here for the good news. I don’t care about anyone else, but Briar must die. If your people can put a bullet through her head, I’ll add another 300 thousand dollars on top.”
Emily’s brow twitched. ‘A headshot for Briar? Has this woman lost her mind?‘
Briar was an instructor at the DDC Vanguard Mercenary Special Operations Base, and her fighting skills were

just as good as Ashton, Reece, and Hamish.
And yet this idiot had hired someone to try to shoot her.
Anyway, there was nothing they could do to Ashton and Briar today.

Emily simply relaxed into her wheelchair, curious to see just how exactly Beatrice’s hired killers planned to
blow Briar’s head off.
At the same time, she secretly took out her phone and sent a text message to report that their mission to capture Ashton and Briar had failed.
“Ashton, are we really just letting you two take that scar–faced man away?” Hamish asked, glancing at his watch. It was getting late.
Ashton looked at Briar. “Honey, do you have any other questions?”
Briar shook her head. “I have no more questions. You can take him.”
They couldn’t get any more useful information from him, so keeping him was pointless.
Reece stood up and headed toward the basement. “Alright. We’ll take this person away first, so we don’t get in your way.”
His words, full of implication, made Briar and Ashton exchange a glance. Then, both of them looked out the window at the same time.
Hamish also stood up. “You sure you don’t want us to stay and help? From what I know of these people, if the first attack failed, there will definitely be a follow–up, and it won’t be easy to deal with.”
Ashton waved his hand. “You should be more worried about your own journey back.”
They didn’t need to worry about him and Briar. With their skill, ordinary attackers wouldn’t even get close.
And besides, every door and window in this house was bulletproof and blast–proof. Even if they sent snipers, they wouldn’t be able to touch them.
Hamish spread his hands, his eyes filled with eager excitement. “Go after us? I’d love that! Every time they make a move, they only go after you two, never us. Do they think we’re not worth the trouble?”
Because they were friends with Ashton and Briar, they should all be targeted. However, they just ignored him
and Reece like that.
Ashton and Briar said nothing. Only these two could make wanting to fight sound so refined.
Just then, Reece came up the stairs, dragging the scar–faced man who was limp and still dripping blood. He heard Hamish’s words and chimed in, “Exactly! Let them come for us already. It’s been forever since I got to stretch my muscles.”

Then he looked down at the blood dripping on the floor and smacked the man’s head. “Damn it! Didn’t I tell you to keep pressure on that wound? You dirty up the floor again, and I’ll make you lick it clean.”
The scar–faced man was already barely alive. Even that one smack felt like being crushed under a thousand
pounds.
But he obediently curled himself into a ball, trying his best not to let any more blood drip.
Unfortunately, it didn’t help much. The blood still dripped steadily onto the floor.
The man could only suffer silently. As if he could control when and how his blood flowed, when he was already one step from death.
Luckily, seeing how much blood was pooling, Reece didn’t linger. He and Hamish hauled the man away and left.
“Drive safely. Don’t hesitate to call if you need anything.” Ashton stood by the car and smiled at Hamish in the driver’s seat. That smile carried a hint of guilt.
This was originally a matter between him and Briar, so he felt guilty for involving his two friends.
Hamish waved dismissively. “Don’t worry. We won’t hesitate. You two need to be careful tonight. We don’t want to be collecting your bodies in the morning.”
Ashton turned and left. That was what friends were for, trading insults and dark jokes.
Collect their bodies? He and Briar would never give them that chance.
Hamish laughed and waved to Briar, who stood beside Ashton. “We’re off, Briar.”
Briar waved. “Alright, be careful on your way.”
The pair stood in the yard, watching as Hamish and the others drove away.
When the car had disappeared from view, Briar looked up and met Ashton’s gaze. “Ashton, the battlefield is
ours now.”
Ashton ruffled Briar’s hair. “That’s right. You can finally let loose.”
Briar laughed, freeing herself from Ashton’s hand that was ruffling her hair. “What kind of mercenaries do you think they’ll hire to kill us this time?”
Guns were banned in Shoneport, but if others were going to break the rules, they were happy to play along.
