“Lucas!” Sylvia’s sharp tongue was usually unmatched, yet she actually found herself unable to outtalk this penniless man!
It would have been one thing if he only hurled insults, but the real problem was that he always elevated the stakes!
She was only insulting him personally, yet he managed to twist it into a national issue, making it seem as if she were an enemy of the state!
Now, Sylvia didn’t dare say much more, afraid that he’d seize on her words again.
Juliette pursed her lips slightly. She hadn’t expected her new husband to have such a sharp tongue.
What touched her the most was that even though she had told him to wait outside, he hadn’t felt at case leaving her alone and had followed her in secret!
He had even declared war against the Monroe family for her!
Lucas‘ cold, murky eyes fixed on Max.
“You’re the first person to act so brazenly in my home. Do you really think I can’t make sure you never walk out of here alive?” Lucas spoke in a chilling tone.
Hearing this, Juliette grew anxious. She instinctively stepped in front of Max. “What are you trying to do? Come at me if you have a problem! Don’t hurt him!”
However, Lucas‘ intimidation had no effect on Max whatsoever.
The man’s sharp, phoenix–like eyes swept over Lucas as he met his gaze head–on and said flatly, “I’ve already uploaded the video to the cloud. If anything happens to me here, the next second, this video will be known to the entire world. By then, Mr. Monroe, the Monroe Pharmaceutical empire you’ve painstakingly built over the years will likely be ruined. My worthless life means nothing, but if Monroe Pharmaceutical can be buried along with me, I’d consider it an honor.”
After speaking, he even let out a fearless chuckle.

“This video cannot be leaked. What exactly do you want?” In the end, he backed down slightly.
“Apologize to my wife.” Max stood tall, exuding an air of quiet nobility.
“Lucas, we absolutely cannot bow down to these lowly people!”
“He’s probably bluffing. How could he upload something to the cloud that quickly?”
“We can’t let them control us!” Sylvia clung to Lucas‘ arm.
In response, Lucas yanked his arm away from her grasp.
“You foolish woman! You’re gambling with the future of Monroe Pharmaceutical! Can you afford to lose?”
“Hurry up and apologize!” Lucas shot Sylvia a glare.

Was I the only one being rude just now? How did apologizing end up being my job?
“What are you standing there for? We’re all family. Isn’t it enough that we argue behind closed doors? Do you really want to turn this into a public spectacle?” Lucas roared, venting all his frustration from Juliette and Max onto Sylvia.

Juliette forced a faint, bitter smile.
Sylvia wasn’t truly apologizing. If Max hadn’t had leverage over her, they might not have made. it out of here tonight.
“You ungrateful child! As your elder, I’ve already apologized. What more do you want? That sullen face of yours is such bad luck to look at!” Sylvia raised an eyebrow in displeasure.
