Juliette’s body shrank further back, her delicate fingers gripping the blanket tightly as she shook her head, saying, “No, I will never marry the third son of the Donovan family. Dad, please talk to Mom, can you?”
“What’s wrong with being crippled? The third son of the Donovan family can’t go around flirting anymore without his legs. He’ll make a great husband. As for being ugly, ju the lights when you sleep; it’s all the same. You’re going to enjoy life with him. What’s there to
turn off complain about?” Lucas spoke quietly, his murky eyes betraying a deep, calculating mind.
“If he’s really that great, why don’t you let Vivienne marry him? Do you even believe the words you’re saying? I’m not stupid. I can tell that the Donovan family is a hellhole! I will never marry him!” Juliette shouted, her voice strained.
“You ungrateful girl, how dare you plot against your sister! What is Vivienne’s status, and what is yours? Can you even compare? I see there’s no reasoning with you, let’s just get it over with!” Sylvia’s eyes burned with fury as she walked toward Juliette.
Standing outside the door, watching coldly, Max rubbed his nose.
They are fighting like it’s a matter of life or death for me, huh? From what Juliette says, it looks like she doesn’t want to marry me. Was all of this just a coincidence?
Just as Sylvia was about to grab Juliette, she noticed the man standing outside the room.
She ripped the IV out of her arm, not even bothering with her slippers, and quickly walked forward, throwing herself into the man’s embrace.
“You shameless sit, what do you think you’re doing? In a public place, hugging someone like that–how shameful!” Sylvia pointed at Juliette, scolding her.

Lucas‘ eyes narrowed, his forehead veins bulging with rage.
What a fool… Does she have any idea she’s ruined all my plans? If I’d known she’d be this uncontrollable, 1 should’ve killed her the moment I saw her!
Lucas couldn’t hold back his anger. He took a few steps forward and raised his arm high.
Juliette, terrified, covered her cars with her hands.
She could take a hit anywhere, but her ears were off–limits.
She had already lost one ear. If something happened to the other one, she would never hear again.
But the pain never came.
She slowly opened her eyes.
A strong, powerful arm was blocking Lucas‘ path.
“No matter what, it’s a bit beneath a man to hit a woman,” the man’s voice was deep and low, as if it were whispering directly into her car, gradually becoming clearer.
