Lucas‘ face had already turned ashen with rage.

His deceased dad had always been like this, favoring that disgraceful granddaughter. Lucas felt that his dad had never even considered that Monroe Pharmaceutical had only gotten to where it was today because of his hard work!
Seeing Lucas remain silent, Juliette was in no rush.
She knew they wouldn’t hand over the money so easily.
So she said. “I’m only here to inform you. You have one month to hand it over. Otherwise, we’ll take the legal route.”
“Hahahahaha!” Lucas suddenly burst into laughter.
Juliette frowned, unsure what was going on. Has Dad lost his mind from anger?
“Oh Juliette, I knew from the start you were an ungrateful little wretch. Three years ago, in the documents I had you sign, one of them was a share transfer agreement. Your shares have long been under Vivien’s name! And you think you can still get 20 percent of Monroe Pharmaceutical? Dream on!” Lucas had the look of someone who had everything under control.
Juliette had always known her father was biased, but she had never imagined he would go this
far.
He had planned the whole thing three years in advance.
He had caught her completely off guard, making her realize that when the family decided to play dirty, they could be even more ruthless than outsiders.
“Am I your daughter? Juliette could only ask such a pale, powerless question.
“If you’re not my daughter, then whose daughter are you? We fed you, clothed you, paid for your education, and how did you repay me? If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for never knowing your place! Always thinking about breaking free from our control!” Lucas declared righteously..
Splash!
On the other side, Sylvia had unknowingly walked into the kitchen. By the time she came out, she was carrying a basin of water, which she dumped right over Juliette’s head and shoulders.

“You want to take money from our family? Have you looked in the mirror? With your pathetic fate, do you really think you deserve that much money? Hmph!” Sylvia placed one hand on her hi
smug and triumphant.
Soaking wet, the biting cold seeped into Juliette’s body.
Max had only come by to see if they were talking about the Donovan family.
He would never have thought he’d walk in on yet another family shouting match.
He really didn’t want to get involved, but no matter what, Juliette was still his wife on paper.
Hitting her was the same as slapping him in the face.
Holding up his phone, he strolled into the living room as if he owned the place.
“Who would’ve thought that the charitable Mrs. Monroe turns into a full–blown shrew behind closed doors? I wonder what the media would say if they saw this scene. Though I doubt it’d be anything flattering,” the man said with a smirk, his strikingly handsome face tinged with an air of carefree arrogance.
Lucas‘ expression changed instantly at the sight. He turned to the house staff and barked, “Are you all dead? Why are you just standing there? Get him out of here!”
The servants were just about to move when Max aimed his phone directly at them.
“Go ahead, here’s your chance to be on camera. Let everyone see how the Monroe family treats a lowly son–in–law. They won’t even let him through the door.”
“You think you’re some kind of son–in–law? Our family doesn’t have a son–in–law like you!” Sylvia sneered..
The only son–in–law she approved of was someone like Gavin–born into wealth, capable, and outstanding.
Not someone who didn’t even know his own place.
But for this man to actually accept Juliette despite her having been in prison, his family must not be doing well either!
