Sophia couldn’t meet William’s eyes, feeling the fire in his gaze might consume her.
Seeing William turn to leave, she scrambled forward, clutching his pant leg.
“Don’t abandon us! Please, don’t abandon us!”
William shook her off with a sharp kick. “This isn’t over. I genuinely wanted to care for you both. But you and your son-scheming at every turn, plotting against me, plotting against Emily.”
Sophia crumpled to the floor, limbs limp, unable to rise.
William drove to a bar and ordered the strongest liquor available.
The glass trembled in his palm, his heart quaking along with it.
Since Emily left, that hollow space in his chest remained unfilled.
The next day, Sophia returned from grocery shopping to find her and John’s belongings being hurled out piece by piece.
“What are you doing!
What are you doing!”
“The boss said he never wants to see you or your son again.”
The burly man delivered the message and swiftly slammed the villa door shut.
“William! Open up! You can’t do this to me!”
Moments later, the gates creaked open, and John was flung out onto the pavement.
William stepped out of a black Rolls-Royce, casting an icy glance at them before striding toward the house without another look.
He’d not only frozen all of Sophia’s cards but also blacklisted her from every transport system, leaving her trapped and helpless in this city.

Meanwhile, Emily remained missing.
Over a month had passed without any trace of her.
As torrential rain lashed outside, William pressed his fingers to his temple-truly powerless against Emily’s disappearance.
Returning home now meant facing only cold silence and solitude.
The entire villa echoed with nothing but the hum of air conditioning.
A phone call shattered the stillness. “Mr. Kennedy, I’ve located Ms. Martin.”
William bolted upright from his chair.
“Where?”
“Our investigation indicates she boarded a flight to New York.
She’s opened a café there.
A man named Ethan Moore seems particularly close to her.’

Hearing another man’s name, William’s brow furrowed sharply.
“Book me a ticket to New York!”
