Chapter 14

When she focused, William stepped out of the car.

With him came Emily’s mother.

The familiar figure came into view, and Emily’s face immediately darkened.

“What’s wrong?”

Ethan happened to come out from inside, saw her expression, and asked.

“Nothing, just an enemy showing up.”

Emily finished speaking and was about to go inside when William grabbed her hand first.

“What are you doing?”

She immediately tried to pull away.

The more she struggled, the tighter William held on.

“Emily, come back with us, okay?

Stop throwing a tantrum.”

Eleanor followed behind, breaking the silence first.

“Emily, I don’t agree to this divorce, so it doesn’t count.’

“Let go of me, William! We’re divorced, it’s written in black and white.”

Emily was pulled painfully, her face darkening.

As they confronted each other, Ethan pushed William aside and pulled Emily back.

“Are you okay?”

His gentle tone brought Emily some comfort.

Ethan stood between William and Emily, his eyes giving a stern warning.

Chapter 14

William looked at this unfamiliar man, anger boiling inside.

“What does her business have to do with you?”

He tried to push Ethan aside, but Ethan stood firm like a barrier.

“If I heard right, Emily has divorced you; legally, you have no ties.

It’s not good to make a scene outside her shop, is it?”

Ethan’s words were like knives, stabbing William’s heart.

Emily hid behind him, slowly sighing in relief.

With him there, she was no longer afraid.

“If Mr. Kennedy keeps harassing, I don’t mind dragging this out.”

Ethan’s words were like a heavy blow, silencing William.

The standoff lasted a while, until Eleanor pulled William into the car.

“Thank you.”

When Emily saw him come in, she hugged him tightly.

Ethan was startled by her action but let her hold him.

“Ethan, can we try being together?”

Emily leaned against the wall, tentatively asking while her entire face flushed crimson.

Ethan froze momentarily,

then under the bright sunlight, he pinned her against the wall and kissed her deeply.

After returning home, William remained consumed by rage. Eleanor urged him to apologize to Emily.

After much deliberation, William called his driver. “Send someone to bring Sophia and her son to me immediately.”
