Chapter 120
Mary subconsciously looked over at Eleanor.
Eleanor said, “Let’s go inside”
Mary understood–Eleanor just didn’t want to interfere
It wasn’t that Eleanor didn’t care, but she felt these people had gone way too far, treating Stella like she wasn’t even human. She thought, ‘Now that their problems are surfacing, they should torment each other and get a taste of what Stella went through.
Of course, just a beating is nothing compared to what Stella suffered. My poor Stella, she had it rough!
Even inside the room, Mary and Eleanor could still hear Fiona’s screams.
Mary didn’t feel the slightest bit sorry for Fiona, She glanced at Eleanor, noticing a flicker of emotion on her face. She was sure that it wasn’t for Fion Most likely, Eleanor was thinking about Stella.
Eleanor said, “Back then, I went back to my hometown for my old friend’s grandson’s wedding, and that’s when Silas took advantage of the situation. If only I hadn’t gone.”
Normally, Eleanor would be at home, able to shield Stella from some of the trouble.
Back then, she thought attending a wedding wouldn’t be for long, but once she got back to her hometown, everyone missed her so much that they convinced her to stay for over a month.
That was when Everything happened to Stella.
Mary said, “Don’t beat yourself up, Mrs. Hayes. It’s not your fault. If you could see the future, none of this would have happened. You love Stella so much
there’s no way you would’ve let something like that happen to her.”
“How can I not blame myself? Just look at that child now,” Eleanor replied. Every time she remembered how Stella walked now, her heart twisted with pain. She thought. ‘Stella should have had a bright future, but now it’s all gone.
Mary said, “Look, she’s back now, isn’t she? Jordan treats her so well, and he’s always been good to you, too.”
Eleanor replied, “Yeah, he’s great. But the two of them led to me. Don’t think I don’t know what’s going on.“”
Mary shot her a confused look,
Eleanor explained, “Stella said they’ve known each other for ages, and I believe that. But when she claimed Jordan was her boyfriend? How am supposed to buy that?
If they were that close, Jordan would’ve shown up at our house looking for her back then.”
Mary felt sorry for Eleanor. She thought, ‘It turns out Eleanor knows the whole truth, yet she still has to feign ignorance in front of Stella.
Eleanor continued, “But seeing how Jordan treats Stella, better than anyone else ever could, that puts my mind at ease.”
*But he still hasn’t introduced us to his family,” Mary said.
“That doesn’t matter. He must have his own reasons. We just have to trust him,” Eleanor replied.
Mary nodded.
In the living room, Fiona kept screaming, begging Andrew to let her go. But the more she begged for mercy, the harder Andrew beat her. Now and then, the whip would end up hitting Fiona right in the face.

Chapter 120
Fiona was in so much pain she didn’t know what to do. Her voice was hoarse from screaming
Anna just stood there, watching silently, showing no intention of helping
Fiona slowly crawled over and grabbed Anna’s leg, but Anna immediately recolled in disgust
Fiona walled, “Anna. If your mother. How can you just stand there and do nothing? Please, go beg your dad for me. If you say something, I know he’d le me go.”
Anna replied coldly. “Mom, what do you expect me to say? Dad’s already done more than enough for your fanity, and you still went behind his back and pulled this stunt. I know he shouldn’t be hitting you, but honestly, you pushed him too far.
“You took my jewelry without even telling me. You knew I wouldn’t have agreed. Sure, you want to help your family, but Sites just keeps gambling over and over–how can you keep covering for him like this?”
Fiona choked out, “I just can’t help feeling sorry for Silas. Il Max was the one doing this, would you really just stand by and do nothing?
Anna shot back, “if it were Max, I’d help him quit gambling. Mom, you’re not helping Silas–you’re hurting him, and you’re hurting us too. if we hadn’t caught this while Max was in the hospital, were you planning to mortgage our house next?”
Anna’s words made something click for Andrew. He asked, “Wait, did you mortgage our house?”
Fiona’s expression faltered.
Andrew didn’t miss a thing. He dashed upstairs to look for the property dead, but no matter how hard he searched, it was gone. And then it hit him Fiona had mortgaged their house.
Just as Fiona was about to get up, Andrew lashed her again, the whip landing hard on her body. He snapped, “Fiona, I really spoiled you.
“Back then, to prove how much I loved you, i put most of the family’s property under your name. Eleanor was against it at first, but I told her I wanted you to feel safe.
“I know you never felt welcome here, so I wanted to give you everything I could. And what do you do? You want and did this behind my back. Tell me where’s the money?”
Even if their house wasn’t worth over a hundred million, it was still worth tens of millions. He was dying to know where Fiona had spent the money.
Fiona wast
was on the verge of passing out from the beating, so Anna quickly stepped in. She said, “Stop, Dad. If you keep hitting Mom like this, she will die- there’ll be nothing left for any of us.”
Andrew pulled back the blood–soaked whip and demanded, “Spill it. If you’re not telling the truth, take the whole Clark family to court.”
Fiona said, “I’ll tell you. All the money went to pay off my brother’s debts”
Andrew demanded, “Paid off debts? You took tens of millions from our family and even put the house up as collateral. Just be straight with me–how much did Silas really love gambling!”
Fiona said, “One year, he went with some friends to Sulvar City–he said the casinos there were wild, so he checked it out. And just like that, he blew 30 million.” She couldn’t even meet Andrew’s eyes as she said it.
Andrew clutched his chest.
Anna quickly moved to support him and said, “Dad, you have to stay strong
Andrew shouted, “Stay strong? How am I supposed to take this? 30 million. And that’s just from Sulvar City. Did he blow money anywhere else, too?”
Not in his wildest dreams did Andrew ever imagine that after everything he’d done for Fiona’s family, after giving her a real place in this home, she’d still betray him like this

He demanded, “Let me ask you again–how the Hayes family ended up like this, is it all because of you?”
Fiona choked out, “never meant for this to happen. Max was making so much money, and so were you,
“At first, I only took a little, but then I just kept taking more and more—I don’t even know how it got to this point. I never thought things would end up
like this.
Andrew wanted to keep beating her, but in the end, his body just gave out he collapsed right there on the floor.
The servants scrambled to catch him.
Anna shouted, “Call an ambulance, now. Hurry up.”
By the time the ambulance showed up, Fiona was still lying there on the floor, bleeding a lot–and nobody paid her any attention.
Fiona kept calling for the servants, but none of them dared to go near her.
After everything that went down today, the servants realized that the house could be seized any day now. If they stuck around, there probably wouldn’t be any paychecks coming their way.
So after a bit of whispering among themselves, a few of them started sneaking around the house, hunting for anything valuable they could get their
hands on.
