When Jordan addressed him respectfully, Silas felt a surge of pride. ‘After all, I’m Stella’s elder. Jordan wouldn’t dare do anything to me, would he?‘ Silas thought to himself.
“Someone, bring out the best coffee,” Jordan ordered.
The assistant quickly went to carry out the order.
Jordan invited Silas to take a seat.
The assistant soon brought over the finest coffee. Jordan’s office had a full coffee setup, and the assistant’s coffee–making skills were so impressive that Silas was dazzled just watching the whole process.
After all the fancy steps, the coffee was finally placed in front of Silas.
He took a sip and couldn’t help but sigh, “Now that’s some really good coffee!” Silas had met people from all walks of life and had tasted both good and bad coffee, so he knew a thing or two about quality.
Jordan then signaled for the assistant to leave. Now, only Jordan and Silas were left in the office.
“Silas, ever since Stella and I got married, she’s been focusing on her health and hasn’t had the chance to go back to her grandma’s place to visit you all. That’s my fault, and I want to apologize to you for that,” Jordan said sincerely.
Silas immediately waved his hand. “No, no, you’re a big shot now, always so busy. I’m just really happy you could spare some time to see me today,” he said, feeling secretly proud.
“I’m glad you understand, Silas. Here, have some coffee,” Jordan said, offering him the cup.
Silas hadn’t enjoyed this kind of comfort in ages. Missing a finger didn’t bother him one bit. He was really savoring the coffee, almost feeling like he owned the whole place.
“By the way, Silas, you must have come to see me for something today. If you need anything, just feel free to ask. If it’s within my power, I’ll
make it happen,” Jordan said.
As soon as they got down to business, Silas set his cup aside. He nervously rubbed his hands on his thighs. “Honestly, I do have something pretty important I want to talk to you about today.
“I’m sure Stella’s already told you about my past. I really messed up before, always causing trouble and making everyone worry at home.
“I’ve been doing a lot of soul–searching lately, wondering if I could actually accomplish something for once. I know I’m not young anymore, and maybe it’s a little late, but it’s never too late, right?
“I really want to turn things around. I recently spotted a business opportunity that looks like it could make some good money, so I was hoping you could lend me a bit of cash to get started.
“Don’t worry, I’m not just asking for a loan here. I want you to come in as the majority shareholder. We can sign a contract, and you’ll get 70% while I take 30%. I guarantee there’s no way you’ll lose money on this.”
Jordan took a sip of his coffee. His expression stayed calm, making it impossible to tell what he was really thinking.
Silas grew uncertain, his hands unconsciously balling into fists.
“How much are we talking about investing?” Jordan set his cup down.

Silas said excitedly. “It might take fifteen million.”

Jordan’s face gave nothing away, so no one could tell what he was thinking “Fifteen million? That’s not much. Alright, hang on a sec. I’ll have finance get it ready for you. You should have the money by the end of the day,” he said.
With that, Jondan headed back to his desk and made the call.
Silas couldn’t believe how smoothly things were going. When he left home earlier, his family didn’t buy it. They said Jordan was way too shrewd to just bail him out of his gambling debts so easily.
But Silas had insisted he had a plan and that he’d find a way to get Jordan to cough up the cash.
Actually, Silas had two plans up his sleeve. This was just the first one, and he hadn’t even needed to use the second one. He couldn’t believe it had worked so easily.
As he listened to Jordan on the phone with finance, arranging the money, Silas knew everything was set.
When Jordan returned to his seat, Silas felt a sudden weakness in his body, but he didn’t pay it much mind until a few men walked into the
office.
They were all dressed in black suits and wearing sunglasses, giving off an intimidating vibe he couldn’t quite put his finger on.
Silas understood what was going on. “You’re worried I might lose the money, so you had them escort me back, right? Jordan, you really cover all the bases. No wonder Stella picked you in the end. You really are a thoughtful guy.”
Jordan shot them a look. The men caught on right away. One of them grabbed the baseball bat that had been set aside and brought it down hard on Silas’s leg.
“Ah! Jordan, what the hell are you doing?” Silas yelled, his voice full of shock and pain.
Apparently not wanting to dirty up Jordan’s office, they dragged Silas over to the doorway.
Jordan sat in front of the setup, sipping his coffee as he spoke. “Silas, of all the things you could’ve done, you just had to try and pull tricks on me. You were right about one thing. Stella didn’t tell me anything about you guys.
“Funny thing is, I dug it all up myself.”
Silas froze. “What exactly did you find out?”
“Everything I should know, and even the things I shouldn’t, I’ve found out all of it. What else do you think there could be?” Jordan replied.
“You… you–ah!” Silas barely got the words out before the man in black behind him had slammed the bat down hard on his leg.
Silas, who had just been trying to move closer, cried out in agony, unable to hold back his screams.
“You know, I’ve been racking my brain for a reason to deal with you, but I never thought you’d just serve yourself up on a silver platter. Tsk,
tsk, tsk. What should I do now? I can’t let you down, can I?” Jordan said.
Silas shouted, “Jordan, hit me and I’ll sue you!”
Jordan replied, completely unfazed, “Go ahead, sue me. I’d be disappointed if you didn’t, you know?”
Silas was completely stunned.
“There are no cameras here, and everyone in this place works for me. Even outside, it’s all my people. Who do you think could possibly prove I laid a hand on you?

“Oh, you mean the cameras here? Well, they’re mine. If I say they’re broken, then they’re broken. What can the cops do about it?” Jordan said.

Silas was dumbfounded. He’d always heard that some people were above the law, but he never really believed it until now.
The most important thing was, Silas didn’t even dare call the police. If they started digging, they’d find out about his gambling, and he’d probably have to do some time himself.
Jordan’s men didn’t give him a chance. The pain was so bad, Silas felt like he was going to die. He didn’t bother with pleasantries anymore and started saying nasty things.
Jordan shot him a cold look, and one of his men immediately swung the baseball bat, slapping it hard across Silas’s face.
Meanwhile, Jordan sat there, completely at ease, leisurely sipping his coffee as if nothing in the world could disturb him.
After who knew how long, Silas was barely clinging to life.
Only then did Jordan finally speak, “Alright, that’s enough. Dump him back at their house.”
“Yes, sir,” they said.
Just as they were about to drag Silas away, something crossed Jordan’s mind and he told his men to stop for a moment. He pulled out his phone and started snapping pictures.
Silas wasn’t totally in the dark. He understood what was happening, but even though he was furious, he was just too weak to do anything about it.
Jordan glanced over the photos, looking pretty pleased with himself, then told his men to take Silas out. And then he sent the photos straight
to Stella.
