Chapter 4
Theo rushed to my side in a panic, helping me to my feet.
“Ms. Sterling, Your phone was dead-I knew something was wrong and came straight here.”
“Security team’s en route. Ten minutes out.”
Hearing Theo’s words gave me some relief.
My security team was trained to mercenary standards-every single one of them was elite killers.
Clara looked at Theo and let out a mocking laugh.
“So this is your husband, huh? All dressed up nice and fancy. If he hadn’t shown up, I would’ve thought you were carrying some random bastard!”
[ ignored Clara’s taunts, gripping Theo’s hand tightly.
‘My water broke. Get me to another hospital, now.”
Theo was helping me leave when Clara stepped right in front of us, blocking our path.
‘Did I say you could leave?”
Clara glanced at the security guards.
‘Are you all brain-dead? Hold them down! If they escape, you’re all FIRED.”
At Clara’s orders, several guards rushed toward Theo and me.
Theo was quickly pinned to the ground, while two other guards grabbed my arms, making it impossible for me to
nove.
Clara walked over and took a taser from a guard, jamming it into my knee.
The next second, my legs went numb and I collapsed to the ground with a loud thud.
Clara looked down at me, slapping my face hard.
‘Where’s that smart mouth now? What happened? Cat got your tongue?”
‘Bow down a hundred times and maybe I’ll spare you. How about it?”
I looked up at Clara’s smug face with hatred, then lunged forward, headbutting her stomach as hard as I could.
Clara stumbled backward, clutching her belly with a twisted expression.
“You little bitch! How dare you hit my stomach? This is the heir to the Kingsley fortune! If anything happens to my son, ten bastards from your belly wouldn’t be enough to make up for it.”
Clara grabbed the taser and jammed it violently into my stomach.
‘You chose the hard way. Time to learn your place.”
Electric current shot through me, sending excruciating pain through my abdomen.
‘Blood-there’s so much blood.”
Someone suddenly screamed.
Fighting to stay conscious, I looked down to see my white dress soaked through with bright red blood.
‘My baby…”
Clara sneered at me.
Poor people like you don’t deserve to have children. I’m doing you a favor.”
I’LL MAKE YOU PAY!”
Jsing my last bit of strength, I bit down hard on Clara’s hand.
CRACK.
Her baton smashed my skull. She held her wounded hand and glared at me with venom.
You actually bit me, bitch? You really do have a death wish.”
Then Clara cranked the taser up to maximum power.
ust as she was about to bring it down on my stomach again, the elevator doors opened and a group of people came looding out.
The moment Clara saw who it was, her face lit up as she rushed to greet them.
‘Honey! You’re finally here! You don’t know how this bitch attacked me.”
Adrian pulled her into his arms, scanning the scene around us.
“Let me see who’s got a death wish, messing with my wife.”
I struggled to lift my head and look at Adrian, my voice ice-cold.
“That would be ME.”
Adrian’s eyes met mine-he went ghost white, shaking like he’d seen the devil.
