I sat on the floor, numbly cleaning up the mess around me. Even when glass shards cut my fingers, I refused to stop.
When Liam and I first got together, everyone said we were a perfect match, and our relationship was the envy of everyone around us. Liam must be exhausted–he just finished fighting with me and now he’s off to find another woman. I replied, “I understand.”

Emma’s gaze looked me up and down. I frowned, then led her into the study, but she asked me to wait outside the door.
