The realization hit him like a physical blow. He quickly called Mom and Conner over. Ryan followed them, a silent shadow.
“Sophie’s last moments… they’re saved in here,” he said, his voice trembling. “We have to see what really happened that day.”
They gathered around the stone and placed their hands on it. It began to glow, and an image of my final moments flickered to
life.
I was at home, getting ready to leave for my award ceremony, when I heard a noise downstairs.
Three strange rogues had broken in.
“She’s here. Stick to the plan.”
One of the men spoke, dangling a keychain with Ella’s signature charm on it.
“You sure no one’s gonna come looking for her?”
“Relax. The whole family’s at the little sister’s party. No one gives a damn about this one.”
Another man laughed, a sinister, grating sound.
“Ella said if we just rough her up and take a few pictures, she’ll get us accepted into the pack!”
“Remember, don’t actually kill her. Just ruin her reputation.”
In the vision, I backed away, my face etched with terror.
“Who are you? Why are you doing this to me?”
“Don’t be scared, little wolf. It’ll be over soon.”
They dragged me toward the basement.
Watching this, my family was stunned into silence.
My death wasn’t an accident. It was a setup.
The vision continued, showing me being violated.
I fought back desperately. My head slammed against the sharp corner of a table, and blood gushed from the wound.
The rogues panicked and fled.
With the last of my strength, I tried to use my pack link to call for help, but the connection was severed. The phone calls I managed to make were dismissed as me “acting out for attention
Finally, I lay in a pool of my own blood, my eyes wide with despair
The moonstone went dark
Conner was the first to react. He stormed into Ella’s room, where she was happily trying on new clothes.
“It was you! You hired those rogues to kill Sophier
Ella’s face went white She waved her hands frantically
“No, Conner, what are you talking about?”

“Look at what the moonstone recorded! What else do you have to say for yourself?” Conner was so furious he was on the verge of shifting. “Ella, how could you do this?”
“She was our sister!”
Seeing the irrefutable proof in the moonstone’s light, Ella finally dropped her innocent act. She shrieked:
“I only wanted to ruin her reputation! I never meant for her to die!”
“She’s the one who hit her head! How is that my fault?! Besides, you all hated her, didn’t you? Isn’t it better now that she’s
dead?!”
Her hysterical confession stunned Mom and Dad. They were only just now realizing that Ella was never the gentle, sweet girl they thought she was.
Dad slapped Ella hard across the face.
“You monster! Sophie was your sister!”

She never competed with you for anything! We were the ones who wronged her, not the other way around!”
Mom collapsed to the floor, unable to believe this was the daughter she had cherished.
“Ella, we gave you all our love. Why would you do this?”
“All your love?” Ella sneered, a wild look in her eyes. “If that’s true, then why are you all acting like this now that Sophie’s dead? Didn’t you only love me?”
Unable to take any more, Ryan lunged forward and punched Ella square in the face.
“Shut up! Sophie was a thousand times better than you will ever be!”
Ella fell to the floor, blood trickling from her split lip.
“Don’t act so devoted now,” she spat. “Ryan, you abandoned Sophie for me more times than I can count, didn’t you?”
Her words made everyone turn to look at Ryan.
He was speechless, the shame burning on his face.
“I… I was wrong,” he whispered. “We were all wrong.”
Conner stepped toward Ella, his eyes filled with a terrifying, cold fury.
“You killed Sophie. You don’t deserve to be a part of this family.”
“Get out. And never show your face to us again.”
