Chapter 2 I’ll Leave the Moment We Divorce

Images of the original Becky and the male lead together flashed through Becky’s mind as she blurted out

his name.

Xavier looked her up and down, his sharp eyes narrowing.

“You were in a car accident?” he said, tone laced with irritation.

She was walking and talking just fine.

This woman had lied to him again-bold as ever.

Becky’s temper flared. So he had seen her messages and just chose not to respond?

She stepped forward, grabbed Xavier by the collar, and snapped, “I thought you flew to the moon, that’s why I couldn’t reach you. Turns out you were still on Earth. So tell me-why didn’t you pick up the phone: Why didn’t you answer my texts?”

Xavier froze for a second, then grabbed her wrist.

Becky yelped and let go.

“Xavier, damn you!”

Every maid in the house froze like someone had hit pause.

Their heads were full of question marks.

Is this really Becky?

Becky had a reputation for being fierce-if someone slapped her once, she’d slap them back twenty times.

The way she landed Xavier was aggressive too.

But behind closed doors, she was always sweet to him. Obedient. Humble. Always lowering herself.

She had never spoken to Xavier like this before.

Xavier stared at her for four full seconds, then frowned, clearly annoyed. “Becky!”

Becky scowled. “What are you yelling for?”

Something was definitely off.

Very off.

Becky was acting completely out of character.

After a moment, Xavier changed his tone to something a bit gentler. “What’s wrong with you?”

He decided not to press the issue about the car accident lie for now.

Becky was cranky from poor sleep.

It was her first time sleeping in such a luxurious bed, and she’d woken up multiple times during the night.

Any good mood from seeing the pretty man was long gone.

The illusion was shattered.

Becky glared at Xavier for a few seconds, clicking her tongue in disgust.

A flashy product wrapped in attractive packaging, but nothing good inside.

Whoever wanted him could have him. She didn’t care.

Nothing compared to the baby in her belly.

Oh, right-the baby.

Becky suddenly remembered her main mission: get a divorce.

It was Xavier’s first time being looked at with such obvious disdain by Becky-and not just once, but several times.

Just as he was about to blow up, Becky softened her voice. “Hey… can we talk?”

Xavier exhaled quietly.

There it is again. Becky was pulling some new trick, trying to get his attention.

For a second, he’d thought she’d changed.

But no. He’d overestimated her.

There was nothing in this woman’s head but him.

Xavier pressed his lips into a thin line, just about to speak.

Becky cut in, “Let’s get divorced.”

“What?”

Xavier stared at her like she’d just sprouted a second head.

“Becky, is this another one of your games? Threatening me with divorce now?”

“It’s not-”

“Becky, you keep pulling these ridiculous stunts. First the fake car accident, then that attitude, and now this? Threats? Let me make one thing clear: it’s useless. Giving you the title of wife was already my limit. Don’t expect anything more.”

Becky let out a disbelieving laugh. She jabbed a finger at his chest-hard, twice.

“What ‘more’ are you talking about? Your heart? Please. That’s hilarious. Keep it. Give it to another woman. I don’t want it.”

“Becky!”

Xavier’s voice was low and edged with warning.

Becky spread her hand and smacked his chest twice.

“Listen, just because you’re some hotshot CEO doesn’t mean you get to be arrogant and full of yourself. You know what I like most in the world?”

Xavier had never seen her like this before. For a moment, he was stunned.

The girl in front of him, mouth moving nonstop, barefaced in simple silk pajamas, her upturned eyes sparkling with life-

Becky grinned. “Not telling you!”

Xavier snapped out of it, scowling. “Don’t touch me!”

Becky shrugged and clapped her hands. “Fine, I won’t. I know you want to stay ‘pure’ for your crush. Don’t worry, I’ll move out of the way soon. You’ll be free to go win her heart.”

“Becky, what nonsense are you spouting now?”

Becky raised her hands. “Don’t question my sincerity. I really want a divorce. I really want to set you free.”

Xavier pinched the bridge of his nose and said coldly, “Get out.”

Becky replied instantly, “Sure-just as soon as we’re divorced.”

Afraid he’d think she was bluffing, she grabbed his wrist and dragged him upstairs.

“Come on, I’ll show you how serious I am.”

Xavier flung her hand off.

“That’s enough! Becky, I’m warning you-stop with the drama!”

Becky smacked her lips and darted up the stairs.

A moment later, she came back down dragging a suitcase, holding her ID and their marriage certificate.

“Xavier, look-wait, where’d he go?”

The living room was empty.

Becky called him.

His phone rang for a while, but he didn’t pick up.

In a black Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Xavier glanced at the screen and then tossed the phone facedown onto

the seat.

Back at the house, Becky dragged her suitcase toward the door.

A maid stopped her. “Ma’am, you haven’t changed your clothes.”

Becky looked down.

True enough.

Also, she was starving. She hadn’t eaten breakfast yet.

Five minutes later, she came down in a simple T-shirt and jeans. Bright, youthful, full of energy.

She sat down at the dining table and started shoveling food into her mouth.

Even the breakfasts in rich households were overwhelming-so much variety, so delicious, she felt like crying.

One of the older maids couldn’t help reminding her, “Slow down, ma’am. Don’t choke.”

Becky nodded while still stuffing her face.

Once she’d eaten her fill, she leaned back in her chair and burped.

She couldn’t just sit around waiting. She needed to get that divorce done.

Stuffing the marriage certificate and her ID into her pocket, she headed out to find Xavier.

It nearly killed her to walk all the way out of the villa district just to catch a cab.

The place was too big.

Becky figured she had walked at least two miles to get to the main gate.

This is the downside of living in a mansion. If you don’t have a car, it’s exhausting. If you can’t drive like me, no matter how fancy the place is, I’d rather live next to a subway station.

There had been several luxury cars parked in the courtyard earlier.

One of the maids had chased her down, trying to hand her a car key.

She didn’t take it. When the maid looked confused, Becky explained, “I just need a walk. I ate too much.”

The maid didn’t question it. After all, she had eaten a lot.

The original Becky could drive.

She, on the other hand, was terrified of driving. Just gripping the wheel made her break out in a sweat.

She arrived at the entrance of Glory Corp.

This was the investment firm Xavier had built on his own.

The Bolton family already had their own company-Bolton Corp-which was currently managed by Xavier’s father, Henry Bolton.

Just as she was about to go inside, a group of people came walking out.

At the front was Xavier.

Standing beside him was a poised, elegant woman.

His crush-Yulia.
