Chapter 30 The Baby’s Here

Crap, crap, crap. She was feeling guilty about secretly giving birth to Xavier’s kid-was that why she was hallucinating?

Becky closed her eyes. When she opened them again, Xavier was still there.

The doctor called out, “Family member, say something to encourage the mother.”

Xavier crouched down and ground out, “Push.”

“Aahhh!”

A sharp scream came from inside the delivery room.

Jose got so anxious he nearly pounded on the door. “Why is she screaming like that? What did Xavier do to her?”

Sharon shrank back and grabbed his arm. “It’s normal, calm down.”

“Normal?”

“Not normal?”

As they bickered, the sound of a baby crying came from the room.

Both of them jumped up in joy.

Soon, a nurse came out to announce it was a baby boy.

Sharon nearly lost her mind from excitement.

“She did it! She did it! I have a godson now! Jose, I’m a godmother!”

She grabbed Jose’s arm and shouted.

Jose clicked his tongue. “You’re acting like you’re the dad or something. Chill.”

Sharon ignored him and skipped over to Barry and Mary. “Mom, Dad, I’m a godmother! Oh my god, I have a godson! And I’m still so young!”

Barry and Mary were speechless.

Mary turned and said, “Honey, is she really our kid? Maybe we brought home the wrong one-how’d she get so dumb?”

Barry nodded. “Maybe. I’ll get a DNA test done with her later.”

Inside the delivery room, once Becky realized it really was Xavier standing there, she screamed. The shock made her so emotional that the baby slid right out.

The doctor swiftly picked the baby up, cleaned off the gunk, and put him on the scale.

“Boy. Seven pounds, two ounces.”

Then he wrapped the baby in a small blanket and placed him in the bassinet.

Becky and Xavier just stared, stunned, as the doctor went through the whole routine like it was nothing.

Becky really wanted to say, “Could you be a little more gentle with my son?”

But she decided against it..

Xavier’s attention had already shifted away from the baby.

The moment Becky noticed him turn his head, she let her own head fall to the side and passed out.

The room went silent for a moment before the doctor said, “Let’s move the mother and baby to the room.”

The doctors packed up and left, clearly expecting Xavier, the “husband,” to handle the rest.

Xavier frowned. He was clearly not impressed with this little hospital’s service.

But the staff didn’t care. They all left without a second glance.

Xavier wheeled Becky out of the delivery room. Sharon peeked over cautiously.

Huh? She’s asleep?

Perfect!

She was terrified Becky would yell at her.

“Where’s my godson?”

Xavier pointed at the delivery room.

Sharon skipped joyfully back inside, Barry and Mary following close behind.

They saw the tiny bundle lying in the bassinet, and Sharon melted on the spot.

“Mom, Dad, look at my godson! He’s so cute!”

Barry and Mary adored him too.

“Let’s get him to the room.”

Jose stared at Becky without blinking, a trace of concern on his face.

Xavier’s voice came cold and sharp. “Why are you still here?”

Jose said, “Why should I leave?”

Xavier said, “This has nothing to do with you.”

“I’m staying to take care of Becky.”

“You think you have the right to?”

“Oh please. Like you do?”

“I-”

“You what? You two are divorced. You’re nothing to her now. What gives you the right to tell me to leave?”

Xavier’s lips pressed into a thin line. His face was frighteningly cold.

Jose pretended not to notice.

Becky: Will you both just leave already? You’re so damn loud.

Two ridiculously handsome men escorting a new mom back to her room naturally attracted a crowd of curious nurses.

The nurses whispered to each other. These two guys were hot, no doubt, but their faces looked like someone owed them millions.

Back in the hospital room, Jose tried to carry Becky to the bed, but Xavier beat him to it.

Jose pouted and crossed his arms, giving Xavier a look.

“You don’t even like her. What are you pretending to be all gentle and caring for? So fake.”

Becky silently cheered him on: Go Jose! Keep going, drive Xavier out!

Xavier’s voice was icy. “This is between us. It’s none of your business.”

“Please. We’re on equal footing now. Stop acting like you’re better than me just because you’re the ex-

husband.”

Becky wanted to cry. How long were these two planning to hang around? She was going insane.

A moment later, Sharon and her parents brought the baby into the room.

The space instantly felt cramped-especially with Xavier and Jose both still there. It was like the air got thinner.

And this was a private room.

Becky didn’t want to share a room with other new moms, so she had specifically requested a private one.

Xavier stared at Becky lying in bed, his eyes deep and unreadable.

He didn’t say a word. And with him around, no one else dared to either.

Even Jose, who had been arguing with him just moments ago, fell completely silent.
