Chapter 31 A Chaotic Reunion
Finished.
Becky didn’t even dare breathe. Pretending to be out cold was exhausting, and all she could do was silently wish Xavier would just leave already.
As if on cue, Xavier’s phone rang.
He got up and stepped outside.
Becky let out a sigh of relief.
Her eyes flew open.
“Becky, you’re awake!” Jose exclaimed, overjoyed.
Sharon flinched and turned around–only to find Becky glaring at her like she was about to explode.
Sharon let out a nervous laugh. “Wow… Becky, you really pulled it off. You even gave me a little buddy to spoil now.”
“Sharon! I’m going to kill you! Who told you to bring Xavier here?”
Becky was practically shouting. If she hadn’t just given birth and was still so weak, she would’ve jumped up and tackled Sharon right then and there.
Seeing Xavier walk into the delivery room had nearly given her a heart attack.
Sharon ducked behind Mary. “Didn’t you keep the pregnancy from him because you thought he’d make you get an abortion? Well, the baby’s here now. There’s no reason to be scared anymore. What’s he going to do–smother the kid?”
“Sharon, we’re done! I’m cutting you off!”
“Don’t be like that! I’m basically his aunt!”
“Not anymore.”
“No way! I love that little guy!”
“Get out!”
“Not leaving!”
The two of them shouted back and forth, neither willing to give in.
Barry and Mary remained calm, their eyes full of affection as they watched the newborn.
Jose stood nearby, clearly eager to speak, but couldn’t get a word in edgewise.
Out in the hallway-
“Mr. Bolton, where did you go?” Kevin asked. “The meeting’s about to start. Everyone’s already there
Xavier rubbed his temples. He wasn’t in the mood for meetings. “Cancel it.

Before Kevin could even process that, Xavier threw something else at him.

“Hire two top–tier baby nurses. And find a couple of experienced home aides–people who actually know how to take care of new moms and can handle the meal prep too. Don’t cut corners.”
Kevin stayed quiet.
He was about to ask who had just given birth when Xavier hung up.
Kevin mentally went through every woman Xavier had been around recently and still couldn’t figure out who the mother was–or even who’d been pregnant.
But since Mr. Bolton had already given the order, he’d better move fast.
Back inside, Xavier reached the door and paused. The noise inside was wild.
He narrowed his eyes and pushed open the door.
Becky heard the click of the lock and immediately turned her head to the side, pretending to faint again.
The room went completely silent.
Xavier paused, letting out a cold chuckle.
Becky’s heart skipped a beat at that low, icy laugh.
Just then, Jose got a call from Jacob–there was a huge fight at the bar, and even the police had shown up.
He had no choice but to go.
Reluctantly, he gave Becky one last look before hurrying out of the hospital.
Xavier pulled up a chair and sat down on Becky’s left side.
Even with her eyes closed, Becky could feel the pressure of his gaze.
This is bad!Is he just going to sit there and stare at me forever?
Out of nowhere, her stomach let out two loud growls in the silence.
Becky wanted to crawl under the bed and disappear.
Seriously? Kill me now. This is so embarrassing!
All she could do was keep pretending to be unconscious. As far as she was concerned, she’d fainted. She didn’t know a thing.
Xavier’s eyes drifted to her stomach. His lips curled faintly.
Then he got up and walked out.
As soon as he was gone, Sharon rushed over and burst out laughing. “Becky, are you hungry?”
Becky opened her eyes. “I just gave birth; of course I’m starving!”
Mary came over. “I’ll go buy you something to eat.”

Becky looked touched. “Thanks, Madam Mary. You’re the best!”
Mary smiled. “Just wait here.”
As she left, she took Barry with her.
Finishec
Becky wasn’t their daughter, so it wasn’t really appropriate for a grown man to stay alone in the room with her.
When they reached the hospital entrance, they spotted Xavier returning with several takeout boxes.
Well, guess they didn’t need to buy food after all.
Mary turned to Barry. “Take a cab home. I’ll stay.”
Barry nodded.
Xavier caught their conversation and paused before walking up to them.
“Thank you for everything today.”
Barry and Mary were briefly stunned.
They’d never met Xavier before. Everything they knew about him came from Sharon.
Because they cared about Becky, they hadn’t exactly thought highly of him.
But in this moment, their opinion of him shifted a little.
Mary said, “No need to thank us. We love Becky like our own daughter.”
“Thank you for taking such good care of her,” Xavier said. “I’ve got things covered now–I’ve arranged for a couple of baby nurses and helpers. They’ll be here soon. You’ve done more than enough, so please–go home and get some rest.”
The two exchanged a glance. It was true–professional help would probably be better at this point.
Mary replied, “Alright. We’ll head back and come visit Becky another day”
Xavier nodded.
Mary took a few steps, then turned around. “Mr. Bolton!”
Xavier stopped and waited.
Mary’s voice softened. “Becky just had a baby. Her body’s still weak. Whatever you want to talk about, let it wait. Don’t put pressure on
her.”
