Chapter 33 Silent Moves
Xavier was nowhere to be seen, and Kevin was buried in work–still at the office late into the evening.
Brendon tried calling Xavier but got no answer. So he headed over to Glory Corp, only to find Kevin buried under a mountain of paperwork.
Has Mr. Bolton come back yet?”
Kevin gave a tired laugh without looking up. “Nope.”
Brendon frowned. Don’t tell me he’s still at the hospital dealing with Becky.
He gave Kevin a polite smile. “Alright, keep at it. I’m heading out.”
But just as he turned to leave, Kevin called out, “Hey, Mr. Brendon–can I ask you something real quick?” Brendon paused. “Sure.”
“Mr. Bolton told me to hire two live–in nannies and postpartum care specialists. He made it really clear- only the best. Any idea who just had a baby? Someone important to him?”
There weren’t many people Xavier cared enough about to go this far.
Kevin had racked his brain, but no one came to mind.
Brendon felt a sharp jolt in his chest.
Wait–he wasn’t at the hospital to chew Becky out?
“You’re sure that’s what he told you?” Brendon asked tightly.
Kevin nodded. “Yeah, absolutely.”
Brendon swore under his breath. “That Becky–she’s dangerous. She’s got Xavier completely wrapped around her finger.”
Kevin blinked, confused. “What’s this got to do with Ms. Quinn?”
Brendon let out a sharp scoff. “She never actually divorced him. It was all for show. She faked the whole thing, went into hiding, and had his kid behind his back.”
Kevin’s eyes widened. “Wait–Mr. Bolton has a baby? And it’s with Ms. Quinn?”
Brendon let out a frustrated breath. “Can you believe that woman? What kind of person does that? She’s completely playing Xavier like a fool.”
Kevin nodded slowly. Yeah, this was cold–even for Becky.
And knowing Xavier, there was no way he’d just walk away from a situation like this.
So the nannies and nurses were for her.
Kevin asked cautiously, “You think she’ll try to use the baby to get back together with him?”

Brendon didn’t hesitate. “Of course she will. I feel bad for Xavier. He deserves better than being trapped like
this.”
Back at the hospital, Becky had actually dozed off. Xavier still hadn’t said a word about any of it.
He sat quietly in a chair, arms crossed, his eyes fixed on her.
She looked so worn out–her complexion still pale from the delivery.
And yet, this woman had the nerve to hide a pregnancy from him. Had the baby in secret. Let him be the last to know.
If Sharon hadn’t gone behind her back, Becky would’ve kept lying.
Even in her sleep, Becky couldn’t settle. She kept tossing slightly, as if she could feel Xavier’s eyes on her. The next morning, a warm breakfast was delivered–something nourishing to help her bounce back. Becky happily dug in..
Xavier stepped out to take a call.
Right after breakfast, the doctor came by to check on her–and to help her feed the baby.
Xavier walked back in and froze.
Becky was cradling the baby, trying to nurse with the doctor gently guiding her. She looked flustered, her face flushed, the baby clumsily trying to latch.
Xavier’s ears turned hot. He spun around immediately and stepped back out, pulling the door shut behind him.
His face was burning.
He couldn’t shake the image from his mind.
Her skin had been fair and flawless, almost glowing.
Realizing where his thoughts had gone, he grew restless. He pulled out a cigarette, only to look up and see the No Smoking sign.
With a frustrated breath, he headed for the rooftop.
Meanwhile, inside the room, Becky was burning up too.
Oh my God. That just happened. He saw. He definitely saw.
She’d worked so hard to block out what happened back then–how the previous version of her had tried to seduce Xavier. It had been humiliating.
And now he’d seen her chest again.
How the hell is she supposed to look him in the eye after this?

The doctor chuckled at the two of them. “You two are funny. Still acting shy? You’ve already had a baby together. Your face is all red–and your husband blushed too.”
Becky had no idea how to respond.
It wasn’t me who slept with him, okay? That was the previous Becky.
She’d just ended up with the baby.
But no one would ever believe something like that.
She gave a stiff, awkward smile.
Once the baby was full, the nurse gently lifted him and placed him back in the bassinet.
Becky tugged on the doctor’s sleeve as he was leaving. “When can I go home?”
“As soon as you’re fully recovered.”
“I feel great already.” She’d slept well, felt rested, and had no pain. “I want to be discharged today.”
The doctor gave her a quick check. She looked strong and stable. “Okay, let your husband handle the discharge forms.”
After he left, Becky grabbed her phone and called Sharon. “I need you to come help me get discharged.”
Sharon was at work. “Becky, I can’t leave right now. Just ask Xavier to do it.”
“Sharon. You owe me.”
Sharon sighed. Ugh, she holds a grudge like nobody else. “Fine, give me a minute. I’ll go ask for time off.”
“Thanks.” Becky hung up right as Xavier walked back in.
The second he stepped into the room, she felt a wave of pressure settle over her.
Neither of them said a word.
Still rattled from earlier, Becky stared at her hands and picked at her nails, avoiding his
eyes.
Xavier didn’t stay long. He turned and walked back out.
When he came back, he said simply, “You’re discharged.”
Becky’s head snapped up. “Wait–you went to handle the paperwork just now?”
Xavier gave a small nod.
Before she could respond, he leaned down and scooped her into his arms.
She gasped and instinctively grabbed onto his neck.
