Chapter 41 Oh Look, A Petty Parade
She shouted through clenched teeth, “I just won’t!”
With that, she stormed out, pushing open the emergency exit in a huff.
Yulia watched them come out one after another, an uneasy feeling rising in her chest.
That child… Impossible. Absolutely impossible. She quickly dismissed the thought.

In truth, if she had simply done the math, she would’ve known the answer; but she was willfully blind and
chose not to.
Becky thought Xavier would storm off in anger.
But to her surprise, he acted like nothing had happened and took over Jose’s spot from earlier, walking alongside her and helping push the stroller.
So, the mall presented quite the spectacle.
A stunning woman casually pushing a stroller, trailed by a strikingly handsome man, followed by another dangerously charming heartthrob, and a cool beauty with a sorrowful gaze. Bringing up the rear were two matronly women, whispering to each other with their heads down.
The odd mix drew a lot of attention. Becky felt awkward at first, but eventually just stopped caring.
When she got hungry, she walked into a restaurant.
The group followed her inside.
Unable to stand the awkward tension, the two maternity nannies wheeled the stroller back outside to wait.
Xavier sat down next to Becky, leaving Yulia and Jose to take the seats across from them.
Becky ordered all her favorite dishes. She didn’t forget about the two nannies, knowing they’d feel uncomfortable sitting with them, she had a separate table set up and ordered for them as well.
Once she handed the menu to the server, Xavier called the waiter back and added a few more dishes.
The atmosphere at the table grew tense while they waited for the food.
Jose decided to stir the pot. “Mr. Bolton, are you shopping for wedding rings with Ms. Yulia today? Are you two getting married soon? Be sure to invite me; I want to come.”
Becky had been absorbed in her phone, but when she heard that, she looked up–first at Xavier, then at Yulia, just as curious.
Xavier shot Jose a warning look.
Jose smirked, full of mischief.
Yulia brushed a lock of hair away from her face and smiled gently. “We weren’t shopping for rings. We were looking at necklaces… but figured we might as well check out the rings while we were at it.”
She looked up at Xavier after she spoke.

Yulia quickly handed him a glass of water. “Xavier, have some water.”
He took the glass but didn’t drink it; he just set it on the table.
Yulia exhaled quietly and tried to change the subject.
“Becky, it’s only been a few months and you’re already a mom. That’s incredible.”
Becky smiled.
Yulia added, “They say having kids ages you faster. You should really take care of yourself.”
“Thanks for your concern,” Becky replied. “But I’m still young. I bounce back fast. You, on the other hand, should hurry up if you want kids, recovery gets harder the older you get.”
If we’re being shady, two can play that game.
Yulia’s expression faltered slightly.
She turned to Xavier. “We’ll definitely keep that in mind.”
Becky nudged Xavier with her elbow. “Ms. Yulia’s already made it clear. You better get on that.”
Xavier shot her a sideways look. “No one asked you; keep your mouth shut.”
Becky pouted. “Hey, I’m just showing concern, ex–hubby.”
“Shut up.”
“My mouth, my rules. I won’t shut up!”
A large hand suddenly clamped over her mouth.
“Xavier, get your filthy hand off me!”
Xavier rubbed her lips a few times in retaliation before letting go.
Furious, Becky grabbed his hand and bit down–hard.
Xavier frowned at the bite mark.
“Didn’t you just say my hand was filthy? And you still bit it?”
“Humph! I hope it leaves a scar!”
Xavier sneered. “What are you, a dog?”
Becky fired back, “We were married. If I’m a dog, so are you.”
Xavier turned his head away, refusing to respond.
Becky angrily buried her face in her phone.
Yulia’s expression dimmed, a wave of anxiety and jealousy crashing over her.

She and Xavier had never been that close–not even during their honeymoon phase.

But just now, his rough teasing of Becky felt more like playful flirting between a couple than actual bullying.
Xavier was always known for his composure–noble, aloof, never easily flustered.
He was courteous and refined, but kept everyone at arm’s length. No matter how hard she tried, Yulia could never bridge that gap.
Yet around Becky, he showed a full range of emotions–anger, joy, even childish pettiness–just like an ordinary man.
She glanced at Becky.
Becky acted indifferent, but her teasing of Xavier was anything but accidental.
Yulia had underestimated her.
This woman was far more calculating than she looked.
Jose, sitting nearby, didn’t look pleased either.
Once the food arrived, Becky was the only one with a healthy appetite, fully focused on eating.
Everyone else was lost in their own thoughts, barely touching their chopsticks.
When they left the restaurant, Becky rubbed her belly and let out a satisfied burp.
After a month of bland postpartum meals, today’s flavorful spread was a real treat.
She was in an amazing mood.
Of course, she would’ve been in an even better mood if those three weren’t still tagging along. As she strolled, she wandered into the maternity and baby section without a second thought.
