Chapter 59 He’s a Baby, Genius
To redeem himself, Xavier took the initiative to bathe James.
Becky didn’t trust him and told him not to touch anything, she’d handle it.

But while she went to the bedroom to grab clothes, Xavier had already stripped James and tossed him into the water.
From the room, Becky heard her precious son screaming like his soul was being torn apart. She rushed out to find her poor baby struggling to lift his little head out of the tub, his face flushed red from crying.
Xavier, completely unfazed, muttered, “So dramatic.”
Becky went quiet.
She kicked Xavier aside without hesitation and rushed to rescue her poor son.
Only now did she truly understand the saying–that any child raised by their father was lucky to survive.
Xavier, now nursing a sore backside, sheepishly left the bathroom.
Becky quickly finished bathing James, massaged him with essential oils and lotion, dressed him in clean clothes, and carried him out.
She glared at the man slouched on the couch, seething.
“You still here? Planning to stay for the holidays?”
Xavier explained, “He slipped on his own. Had nothing to do with me.”
Becky stared daggers at him, her eyes saying loud and clear, Yeah, right.
Under her gaze, Xavier could no longer sit still. He stood up and left.
The next day, Xavier called out to Kevin. “What kind of toys do babies like?”
Kevin blinked. “Mr. Bolton, are you getting a toy for the little master?”
Xavier nodded, clearly against his will, he didn’t want to.
But that little guy was Becky’s golden boy now; if he wanted to stay in her good graces, he had to get on James‘ good side.
Kevin said, “He’s still really young. You could get him a comfort toy.”
“What’s a comfort toy?”
Kevin was just about to explain when Xavier waved him off. “Forget it. Just go get one for me.”
Kevin nodded and left.
That evening, Xavier showed up at the traditional medicine clinic to pick Becky up again.
Still holding a grudge over the bath incident, Becky didn’t give him the time of day.

Xavier sidled up to her and pulled out a small dinosaur toy.
“I got this for James.”
Becky glanced at it.

She’d seen this exact dinosaur toy trending on an online store recently–a wildly popular comfort toy that sold for nearly two grand.
She thought it wasn’t worth the money, so she hadn’t bought it.
“Give it to me, then you can go.”
“I want to give it to him myself.”
“James said he doesn’t want it.”
Becky turned and walked away.
Xavier followed.
“Come on, get in the car, I’ll drive you.”
“I want to walk.”
“Then I’ll walk with you.”
Becky stopped. “Xavier, do you not have a life?”
“I’m off work.”
“Then go home! Don’t come bother me!”
Xavier’s heart sank.
Becky had never spoken to him like this before,
It was just like the saying–loved by someone, a person is valued like gold; unloved, they barely matter at all.
Becky yanked the dinosaur from Xavier’s hands and stormed off.
After a few steps, she turned back and shot him a warning glare. Don’t follow me.
Xavier let out a quiet laugh. She was kind of adorable like this.
He didn’t get in the car until she was completely out of sight, then instructed Randall to head back to Westview Pavilion.
When Becky got home, she handed the dinosaur to James. “Your dad got this as a peace offering. Don’t hold it against him, okay?”
James grabbed the little dinosaur and blew two tiny bubbles out of his mouth.
The next day, Yulia showed up in Becky’s office.
Becky raised an eyebrow at her. Even though Yulia was standing while she herself was seated, Becky didn’t

come off the least bit intimidated. Instead, there was a calm, almost careless case about her..
It made Yulia grit her teeth.
She preferred the old Becky the one who’d fight her tooth and nail like a lunatic.
That, at least, was satisfying.

But now Becky was emotionally stable, never fought, never competed—yet Xavier’s heart had shifted toward her.
Why did it turn out like this? Yulia thought it all came down to the baby.
Becky had a child now, so she had the upper hand–and was looking down on her like she’d already won.
Becky leaned back in her chair, hands tucked behind her head, looking lazy and relaxed.
“Ms. Yulia, are you here for treatment? If you are, take a seat.”
Yulia pulled out a chair and sat down.
Becky dropped her hands and sat up. “What seems to be the problem?”
Yulia pointed to her chest.
Becky asked, “What kind of discomfort?”
“It hurts a lot. My boyfriend and I love each other, but there’s this other woman who keeps clinging to hi It’s making me really upset. Because of her, we’ve been fighting.”
Becky raised an eyebrow. Is she talking about me?
“Ms. Yulia, I don’t think I can treat this illness. You should go see your boyfriend. He’s the one who can help.”
Yulia said, “No, only you can.”
Becky chuckled. “Sorry, but I’m not a miracle worker. If every lovesick person came to me for help, I’d be dead from overwork.”
“Becky, drop the act. You know exactly what I mean. I came here today to tell you, Xavier loves me. So please, stop trying to tie him down with a child. That kind of trick won’t hold onto a man.”
“Ms. Yulia, if that really won’t work, then why are you here? Shouldn’t you be busy watching your man?”
A crack formed in Yulia’s usually frosty expression.
“I just don’t want my boyfriend being harassed.”
