Chapter 67 That’s Not a Blind Date
Aaron nodded, his eyes fixed on Becky; every now and then, he gave her a shy smile.
Finished
Becky was on the verge of cracking from how awkward that smile was. When the food arrived, she buried her head and ate in silence.
Aaron picked up a spoon and scooped some meat into Becky’s bowl. “The meat here’s really good.”
“Tha-”
She looked up, halfway through her word, only to catch sight of Xavier and Brendon.
Xavier looked like he was ready to kill someone.
Brendon, on the other hand, wore a smug grin, clearly enjoying the show. Sharon looked up and broke into a smile. That was fast.
Aaron was still urging her, “Come on, Becky, eat while it’s hot.”
Xavier walked right up to her. In a flash, his murderous aura vanished; he placed a large hand on her head and gave it a gentle rub.
“Out eating with friends?”
Becky nodded, dazed. “What are you doing here?”
“Grabbing a bite.”
She didn’t think twice about it.
“What a coincidence.”
“Well, since we’re all here, let’s sit together.”
Before Becky could respond, Xavier dragged over a chair and set it beside her. James ended up squished to Xavier’s other side.
Brendon followed suit and pulled up a chair of his own.
Becky was speechless.
A server brought over two sets of cutlery.
Brendon dug in without hesitation.
Xavier picked up his fork and placed a piece of beef brisket in Becky’s bowl.
“Eat more, you’ve lost weight lately.”
Now there were two pieces of brisket in her bowl.
Xavier’s gaze was cold and heavy as he gave her a slight nod, signaling for her to eat.
Becky felt a chill run down her spine.

Chapter 67 That’s Not a Blind Date:
Her gut told her this wasn’t about eating meat it was a multiple–choice rest in disguise..
Without thinking, she picked up the piece Xavier had given her and popped it in her mouth.
Xavier gave a satisfied smile and rubbed her head again. “Good?”
Becky nodded. “Yeah, it’s good.”

And it was good. Which was probably why, against her better judgment, she picked up the other piece and are
that too.
Xavier’s expression darkened instantly.
Becky’s inner foodie came out in full force; she started helping herself to more brisket.
Sharon saw Xavier’s face turn black as the bottom of a pot. She was trying so hard not to laugh, she was
practically shaking. Ha! What goes around comes around, karma’s real! Never thought I’d live to see Xavier this pissed off. Amazing.
Aaron looked confused. “And these two are?”
Becky kept eating, letting Xavier answer for himself.
Xavier kept his face cold and ignored Aaron.
Brendon stayed silent too.
Sharon had no choice but to step in.
Pointing at Brendon, she said, “This is my boss.”
Then, pointing at Xavier, “And this is Becky’s older brother?”
Xavier shot her a sharp glare. Sharon pretended not to ce and dug into her food.
Becky glanced at Sharon and frowned, clearly not thrilled with the way she’d introduced Xavier.
She turned to Aaron. “He’s my ex–husband. James‘ father.”
Aaron looked at Xavier in surprise.
There was a flicker of disappointment in his eyes.
But then he remembered they were divorced and perked up again.
He picked up his fork and added a piece of fish to Becky’s bowl.
“Becky, try this.”
“Thanks.”

Just as she was about to eat it, another fork beat her to it, Xavier’s. He grabbed the fish and popped it into his
mouth.
He immediately frowned in disgust. “Tastes awful.”

Becky was speechless.
Aaron, slightly embarrassed, tried again.
“This one’s good too.”
Before Becky could move, Xavier took the meat and tossed it straight into the trash.
“Those are pumped full of hormones. Don’t eat that stuff”
Becky looked around, worried the restaurant owner might overhear and come over to beat him up.

She gave him a quiet warning. “Can you not say stuff like that in public? We’re cating out–don’t be so picky.”
Xavier put down his fork and leaned back in his chair, arms crossed.
“Then I’m done eating.”
Becky couldn’t be bothered with him. As long as she ate, that was enough.
Her fork didn’t stop moving; her cheeks were stuffed full.
Once she was nearly done, Aaron made a suggestion. “Becky, let me take you to a movie.”
Becky waved him off. “Can’t, I’ve got a little sidekick with me.”
Xavier’s tense expression finally eased. If this woman dared to go to a movie with another man, I’d strangle them both.
Aaron said, “Alright, maybe next time. Becky, I don’t have your WhatsApp, add me?”
Becky pulled out her phone, ready to scan, but Xavier suddenly stood up; accidentally bumped her hand; and knocked her phone to the floor. And just so conveniently, the screen shattered.
Becky stared in shock; her heart ached.
She cried out, “You’re paying for that!”
Xavier, surprisingly agreeable, nodded. “Yeah, I’ll pay. Come on, I’ll take you to get a new one.”
As he spoke, he grabbed her hand and started to walk away.
Becky snapped out of it and yanked her hand back. “James!”
What kind of dad just leaves his son behind? She was fuming.
She bent down to scoop up her shattered phone, then pushed the stroller and followed after Xavier.
He broke it; he better be the one to buy her a new one.
Xavier gave a slight smirk, slowed his pace by two steps, and walked out of the restaurant beside her.
Aaron put away his phone, his gaze dimming.
