Chapter 68 I’m Staying, Deal With It
Sharon burst into laughter, trying to case the awkwardness.
“Aaron, how about I go see a movie with you instead?”
The guy had done her a huge favor; watching a movie was the least she could do.
Aaron shook his head. “Nah. I’ve got things to do, I’m heading out.”
“Oh, okay, Rain check, then.”
Finished
Once Aaron left, only Sharon and Brendon remained. They both gave each other a look of mutual disdain, then stood up at the same time, walked out of the restaurant, and headed in opposite directions without a backward glance.
As if just seeing each other again would kill them.
Now that the outsiders were gone, Xavier’s expression darkened.
“You’ve barely been divorced, already in such a rush to go on blind dates?”
“It wasn’t a blind date.”
She hadn’t known ahead of time, so she wasn’t admitting anything.
Xavier scoffed. “You were sitting together; he was serving you food; high school classmate; doesn’t mind you having a kid and you’re saying that wasn’t a blind date? Who are you trying to fool?”
“James is my darling son, not some kind of baggage! How dare you call him that? Shame on you!”
Xavier went quiet. Was that the point?
“Don’t give me that. Why’d you go on the date?”
Becky snapped, “I already told you, it was just a meal. Not a date.”
Sure, Aaron’s little self–introduction spiel felt like it, but he hadn’t made it official.
Who knew what that was all about? So no, it didn’t count.
Xavier said, “He served you food.”
“You served me food too.”
“Our relationship is not the same.”
“Doesn’t matter to me. You’re both outsiders.”
Xavier wanted to throttle her.
Becky could feel him glaring at her neck and quickly threw a hand over it.
“Don’t you dare.”
Xavier reached out and roughly ruffled her hair; her carefully styled hairdo now looked like a bird’s nest.

“Ah! Why would you mess up my hair?”
**Finished
Furious. Becky jumped on him, her legs wrapping tightly around his waist, and began tugging at his hair with no mercy. Mess up my hair? I’m taking yours down with me. If I’m going down, so are you.
Xavier’s blood pressure went high.
Those two soft spots on her chest pressed right against him, her scent curling around his senses, heightening his awareness until his whole body felt hot. She’s gonna kill me!
“Becky, get down!”
James lay nearby, sucking on his little fingers, his big round cycs watching his childish parents roughhousing. These two are so boring.
Becky finally hopped down after turning Xavier’s neatly combed hairstyle into a complete mess.
Xavier caught a glimpse of himself in the reflective panel across from them and twitched at the sight.
He straightened his appearance in the mirror.
As the CEO of Glory Corp, he had an image to maintain.
Becky couldn’t stop laughing.
Xavier turned toward her with a quiet look. “Satisfied?”
“Yep.”
Becky thought. Very satisfied.
Xavier sighed helplessly. Since when did this woman become so competitive? She had to win even over the smallest things.
Once Becky had laughed her fill, she said, “Let’s go get that phone.”
There were phone stores right there in the plaza.
They stepped into one of the brand stores.
Xavier walked ahead while Becky lingered behind to wipe James‘ drool, falling a few steps behind..
A group of female sales associates assumed Xavier was alone and immediately swarmed him.
“Looking for a new phone, sir?”
“Any style in particular?”
“Check out our latest mode, just released!”
Xavier frowned and turned to look for Becky.
He spotted her on the other side, already browsing phones by herself; his frown deepened.
He marched over to her.

“Why didn’t you stay with me?”
Finished
Becky tore hier eyes from the display and glanced at him. “You were surrounded by pretty ladies, how could I interrupt?”
Xavier nearly choked.
She’d seen it and didn’t care at all?
He firmly grabbed her hand. “Come with me.”
Becky was dragged back to his side.
The salesgirls, realizing they were together, awkwardly stepped away.
Xavier pointed to the store’s newest model. “Which color do you like?”
“White.”
Satisfied with the answer, Xavier turned to the staff. “One in white.”
While the clerk went to get the new phone, Xavier pulled out her broken one.
Once the new phone arrived, he said, “Put her SIM in.”
“Right away.”
The clerk stayed cheerful, if she couldn’t flirt her way to a sale, a commission still worked.
Once the card was switched over, Becky took the new phone and tested the feel in her hand. It was solid.
She was quite pleased.
Xavier paid, then walked out of the store with her.
James started fussing; he was hungry.
Becky had packed pre–measured formula–just enough for one bottle.
Once she got the bottle ready, she picked up James and sat on a plaza bench to feed him
Xavier suddenly asked, “Where’s Abigail?”
Becky looked up. “Her husband had an emergency. She left.”
Xavier frowned. “You’ve been taking care of James by yourself?”
“What else? Abigail might be gone a while, so I took time off.”
She’d considered hiring another nanny, but that would take time to adjust, and in the beginning, she didn’t trust strangers with James.
