Chapter 73 Home–Cooked Truce
Maybe if they found the little sister, their mother would get better too.
Wayne sank into thought.
Still no news from Dracovia.
He hadn’t told the family–didn’t want to give them false hope.
Forget it. He’d wait until there was something solid.

After work, Xavier headed straight to Luminous Heights.
Randall waited for him to get out of the car before driving off–he’d be back the next morning to pick him
- up.
As soon as Xavier stepped inside, the scent of food filled the air.
The little woman was in the kitchen, cooking.
She wore a floral apron, her long wavy hair pulled back into a simple ponytail. A sliver of fair skin peeked out at the nape of her neck. The light shimmered through her delicate earlobes, making them look soft and pink–tempting enough to bite.
Xavier slung his suit jacket over one shoulder and leaned against the doorframe, watching.
Becky turned off the range hood and looked over. When her eyes met his, she froze slightly.
She pressed her lips together and carried a dish out.
“What are you making? Smells great,” Xavier asked casually.
Becky shoved the plate toward him. “See for yourself.”
Xavier nodded, chuckled, tossed his jacket on the couch, and went to wash his hands.
Becky set the table, then peeked in on James. The little guy was awake, so she gave him a toy dinosaur to keep him busy, then returned to eat.
Xavier loved this feeling.
Coming home from work to a hot meal.
But it wasn’t just about hot food–his housekeeper made hot meals too, but they didn’t come with this kind of warmth.
This feeling was unbeatable.
Becky looked up and noticed him grinning like an idiot.
She frowned. “What are you smiling–at?”
“I’m happy,” Xavier said.

“Did you land a big deal?”
“No.”
“Made up with Ms. Yulia?”
His face turned dark. “Why bring her up?”
“Wasn’t she your crush? What’s the problem with mentioning her?”
“Becky, don’t ruin the mood.”
“I seriously don’t get you.”
Becky huffed and kept eating.
“Your cooking’s amazing,” Xavier said.
Becky paused.
A moment later: “Of course it is.”
No false modesty.
Xavier pushed his luck. “I want dumplings tomorrow night.”
He still hadn’t forgotten the New Year’s batch.
“Don’t have time,” Becky said aloud.
But in her head, she was already thinking about fillings.

Lilian deliberately arrived at Westview Pavilion later in the evening to avoid missing Xavier.
After the fiasco with the engagement, Xavier hadn’t called them even once.
She’d made two calls herself, both of which Xavier cut short..
Not wanting to completely ruin things with her son, she thought a nice dinner might help smooth things
over.
When she arrived, the housekeepers were chatting idly.
Her face fell. “Why aren’t you cooking?”
The staff jumped up like startled deer.
Lilian sat down on the couch, adopting a stern posture.
“Look at the time. And you’re all just standing around gossiping? Does that seem appropriate?”
One housekeeper murmured, “Sir said he wouldn’t be back tonight.”
Lilian frowned.

“He’s not coming back?”
“He had some things sent over yesterday. Said he won’t be home for a few days.”
“Sent where?”
“Luminous Heights.”
Lilian’s breath caught.
Luminous Heights? Wasn’t that Becky’s neighborhood?
“He moved there yesterday?”
The housekeeper nodded, watching her nervously. Lilian’s face was tight with fury.
She sat for a while, then stood up and left.
She headed straight to the Bolton estate.
Henry saw her arrive. “Did you see him?”
“No.”
Henry slammed the table. “Unfilial brat!”
“He moved in with Becky,” Lilian said.
“That tiny, crappy place?” Henry barked.
“Yeah.”
“Outrageous!”
He smacked the table again.
Lilian groaned and rubbed her temples. “Enough with the table.”
Henry pressed his lips together and began pacing.
“So what, they’re getting back together?”
“Looks like it.”

Becky’s scheming ran deep. On the surface, she claimed she’d let go. But in reality, her tactics had only gotten more advanced.
She’d reeled her son back in, willingly no less.
Ridiculous.
Henry muttered, “Should I arrange for her and the kid to be sent out of town?”
Lilian hesitated. “No. We need to think this through. Xavier really cares about her now. He’s not like before. I’m afraid if we go too far, he’ll turn on us. Things are already tense enough.”

Henry let out a heavy sigh.
After dinner, Xavier took the initiative to wash the dishes.
Once he was done, Becky handed him a mop.
“You’re awfully good at giving orders,” Xavier said.
“Not happy? Go back to your mansion,” Becky shot back.
Xavier immediately replied, “I’m happy. Whatever you want me to do, I’ll do it.”
Becky huffed.
That’s more like it.
This wasn’t his mansion. No one was treating him like some rich young master here.
As Xavier mopped, he grumbled internally.
He hadn’t mopped a floor since he was in school.
Suddenly, the phone on the coffee table rang.
It was Xavier’s.
Becky happened to be sitting nearby. She glanced at the screen.
