Rewriting the Love Story After Traveling into the Novel
Chapter 74 Domestic Accidents
It was a call from Lilian.
“Your phone.” Becky reminded him.
Xavier walked over, glanced at the screen, and swiped to decline the call.
Becky gave him a questioning look.
After a moment, she asked, “Why didn’t you answer? Are you… are you fighting with your mom?”
“Lift your feet,” Xavier said.
He had reached her side while mopping.
Becky raised her legs but kept her gaze fixed on him.
“What did you two fight about? That public statement?”

The Bolton family had just announced their engagement plans, and Xavier’s immediate statement had completely slapped it down. It was bold–and probably infuriated Henry and Lilian.
Xavier gave a vague “Mm” and kept working.
Becky tilted her head, trying to figure it out.
She didn’t understand. Xavier had liked Yulia, hadn’t he? With Henry and Lilian backing the match, shouldn’t he have been happy?
But even if she asked, she knew Xavier wouldn’t tell her the real reason.
Maybe this was just another test for the male and female leads. Eventually, they’d end up together.
The next day, after Xavier left for work, Becky took James out and bought some meat for dumplings.
She spent an hour preparing and wrapping them. But when dinnertime came, Xavier still wasn’t back.
After a moment of hesitation, she sent him a message:
“Coming home for dinner?”
Just as she hit send, a message from Xavier popped up:
“Got something to take care of. Will be back late. Don’t wait–go ahead and eat.”
Becky scoffed. Like she was waiting for him. Narcissist.
A moment later, another message came in:
“I’ll be back. Just late.”
A reply to her text.

Becky put down her phone and boiled some dumplings for herself. The rest went into the fridge.
After dinner, she bathed James, put him to bed, and then started cleaning–laundry and mopping.
By the time Xavier walked in, she was mopping the floor.

She propped the mop against the wall.
“Have you eaten?”
Xavier switched into house slippers, looked up, and smiled.
“No.”
Becky headed into the kitchen, boiled some water, and pulled the dumplings from the fridge.
Xavier glanced at her silhouette.
He took off his jacket, rolled up his shirt sleeves, and picked up the mop to finish where she left off.
By the time Becky came out with a steaming plate of dumplings, Xavier had already finished mopping, rinsed the mop, picked up the stray hairs with a tissue, and returned everything to its place.
There was no denying it–capable people did everything well.
Even if he didn’t do chores often, he caught on quickly.
A man who was proactive and attentive like this–who wouldn’t be impressed?
Becky was in a good mood. “Wash your hands. Come eat.”
Xavier’s eyes lit up when he saw the plate of dumplings. He quickly went to wash up.
He ate the entire plate.
Becky really did make incredible dumplings.
Afterward, he washed the dishes. Becky was lounging on the couch, playing a game.
Xavier looked at her once before heading to the balcony.
The apartment was small, so his belongings were all stored out there.
He grabbed a towel and reached for his clothes–but paused.
After a second of thought, he changed his mind and walked to the bathroom with only the towel.
Just as Becky was immersed in her game, Xavier called out from inside:
“Becky, can you grab me some clothes? I forgot.”
The distraction got her character killed instantly.
“Ugh!”
She yelled in frustration, stomped to the balcony, and grabbed a set of loungewear.

Outside the bathroom door, Xavier called, “Open the door and leave it on the stool.”
Becky reached for the handle.
Then Xavier added, “Don’t peek.”.
Seriously? Did he think she was that pervy?
She scowled, crumpled his clothes in her fists, closed her eyes, flung the clothes onto the stool, and slammed the door.
A moment later-
“You didn’t bring my underwear,” Xavier called.
Becky wanted to scream.
What a diva!

She really didn’t want to touch his underwear. She dragged her feet, muttering, “Can’t you go without?”
“No. It’d be uncomfortable.”
Groaning, she returned to the balcony and found a pair of boxers, pinching one corner between two fingers like it was radioactive.
She reminded herself to wash her hands five times afterward.
Storming back, she flung the door open in a huff-
“Ah”
“Why aren’t you wearing anything?!”
Becky shrieked and slapped a hand over her eyes.
What did she just see?!
Dear god–she’d seen Xavier’s lower half!
Kill her now!
Although… it was kinda impressive.
Stop it! What was she thinking?!
“Can I have the boxers now?” Xavier asked.
Becky froze.
Wait–what was she covering her eyes with?
She had just slapped Xavier’s underwear over her face?!
Another scream burst out of her.

Two strong hands gripped her shoulders, turned her around, and took the boxers from her hand.
She heard the sound of rustling clothes behind her.
“Becky, you did that on purpose, didn’t you?”
“I did not! It was an accident!”
Shouting, Becky bolted from the bathroom and locked herself in her room.
