Chapter 94 Amalie
The porch swing really is a great place to read. I gently moved the swing with my foot as Rose, and I sit on the swing. She is curled up, into my side as I read. I had started aloud until she fell asleep. I
smile down at her as I brush the curls out of her face. She scrunches her nose but then falls back to
sleep. I smile at her before going back to my book.
I turn another page when I catch a whiff of something.
Beren perks up immediately and starts to growl. ‘Rogue!‘ she screams at me.
I drop my book. I don’t know where the smell originated from, but it’s close. ‘Shit!‘ I shout to Beren as I go to pick up Rose. We can’t mind link. Uncle Mike had left about twenty minutes ago to go get a few things. I had assured him that I would be fine until Sam arrived.
Uncle Mike had mind linked Sam for me and Sam said he would be here in a few minutes. He needed to grab something from his house first. Assuring him that he could take his time, Rose and I had settled onto the porch swing to read.
‘Mates can feel our panic,‘ Beren assures me.
I nod my head to myself as I make my way back inside. I lock the front door as I back away from it. No alarm has been raised. This means that they have snuck in. This means that they are closer to me than anyone else. I can’t mind link anyone to raise the alarm that rogues are in our territory, deep in our territory.
‘Phone,‘ Beren and I say at the same time. I don’t have a cell phone. But I know I saw a house phone here somewhere. I don’t dare put Rose down as I look.
The smell is stronger now. Goddess above, they are right outside the house.
“Mommy?” Rose asks sleepily as she starts to wake up. She is scrunching her nose in disgust.
“Shh, baby,” I try to hush her.
“What wrong?” she asks, becoming more aware of her surroundings. “Smell.”
“I need you to be very quiet,” I tell her, trying to keep the panic out of my voice.
Rose is perking up now and looking around. “Mommy?” Rose asks.
“Rose, listen to me. We are going to play a game,” I tell her as I move towards Uncle Mike and Uncle Will’s room. I will hide Rose there so that way their scents should mask hers. “I need to you to be very quiet and to hide until I or your dads come for you. If anyone else comes for you, you need to stay hidden. Okay?”
Chapter 94 Amalie
“Mommy, what’s happening?” Rose asks, fear evident in her tone.
“I need you to be brave for me, okay? Some bad wolves have gotten in,” I tell her.
I shut the door to the master bedroom when several other things happen at once. The front door flies open with a loud crash as the rogue alarm goes off. I lock the simple lock on the door nob. I set Rose down and start to barricade the door.
“Rose you need to hide,” I order her as I start to move a dresser in front of the door.
“Mommy?” she asks with me, terrified and pleading.
“Hide,” I order with a sharp fear.
Rose lets out a whimper as she moves towards the closet. Her scent quickly overpowered by Uncle Mike’s and Uncle Will’s scent. She will be safe in there as she burrows into their clothes.
“Little wolf, little wolf, let me in,” a male cackles on the other side of the door. He even knocks politely
“Just break down the door,” another male orders.
“Let us in little wolf,” the first male says.
I back away from the door. There’s nothing else I can do to barricade the door, unless I flip the mattress. “What the hell,” I mutter to myself as I go to do just that.
But I am too late. The door flies open under the force of the two males. Their scent fills the room. They both smell like they have been rolling in dead animal flesh for the last several years. I knew rogues could stink, but I did not think they would stink this badly.
I let out a warning growl, warning them not to come any closer.
“Aw the little wolf thinks she is terrifying,” the first male laughs as he takes a step near me. Each statement, he takes a step closer, forcing me back towards the adjacent bathroom. “Little wolf never had to fight to survive. Little wolf is just a frightened puppy. Little wolf should have hidden.”
Beren and I growl again. Beren starts to shift when I feel a small prick. I look down sluggishly to see the second guy had been able to jab me with a needle. I growl weakly as I start to lose consciousness.
“Grab her and let’s get out of here before the Alphas show up,” the second orders as he moves away from my body as it starts to collapse.
“I always knew that women couldn’t resist me and would one day fall into my arms,” the first male cackles as he catches me.

I try to protest. I don’t want him or anyone else near me except for my mates.
“Shh none of that little wolf” he coos condescendingly. He then hefts me over his shoulder. The rogue that is carrying me then follows the other rogue out of the room.
Goddess, it’s him. He is the one that stinks so badly. He overwhelms all of my senses as I am fading. I catch sight of Rose staring at me, wide eyed and terrified as I am carried away. That is the last thing I see before darkness overtakes me.
