Savannah remembered when she first met Channing, she was kneeling in the living room of her employer’s house, helping her mother wipe the floor.
At that time, the tall and handsome Channing had walked in the door sweetly with the daughter of that family.
Though usually a cold and aloof young man, under the sunshine that day, Channing could not hide the affection in his eyes as he gazed at the girl he loved.
Just one look at him, and Savannah fell for Channing, uncontrollably and hopelessly loving him for ten years.
Every time Channing came to her employer’s house, she would hide in a corner and peek at him from a distance as if looking up at a dazzling star in the sky that she could never reach. She knew that it was just her wishful thinking, but she did so wholeheartedly nonetheless.
Therefore, when Savannah married Channing, all of his friends looked down on her as they thought she was after the wealth of the Muir family. No one knew that Savannah only longed for Channing himself.
Nevertheless, it seemed that unrequited love rarely came to fruition in the end.

Just like now, while the sweet married couple hugged each other with tears and celebrated their pregnancy on stage, below the stage, Channing told Savannah indifferently, “Savannah, I have no desire to have children with you.”
And with that, Savannah remained in a daze the whole evening. She forgot to feel relieved about not meeting Edgar at the banquet and couldn’t even remember how she left Zendaya’s birthday party. When she finally regained her senses and recollected herself, she had already arrived home with Channing and was standing in the bathroom in her room.
Savannah looked at her pathetic, haggard reflection in the mirror and wiped the tears off her cheeks. After locking the door, she took out the pregnancy check–up report from her pocket and tore it into pieces bit by bit.
An hour later, she finished washing up and came out of the bathroom.
Channing was sitting on the couch in the room, seemingly busy with work. He never liked texting others, but at that moment, he was holding his phone and patiently typing a message for someone. More surprisingly. there was a trace of gentleness across his handsome profile.
Savannah quietly walked to the bed with her head down.
When she was about to reach the bed, Channing suddenly raised his eyes and glanced at her impassively. “Lucas said you weren’t at your workstation this afternoon. Where did you go?” he asked.
“I went to the hospital… Savannah was nervous deep down, but she tried to put on a calm front. “My mom ordered some herbal medicine for me and asked me to go and get it.”
“Oh.” Channing nodded slightly and took her words without a doubt.

Ever since Savannah and Channing got married, her mother had been ordering those awfully–tasting herbal medicines for her. While her mother claimed they were supplements, they were in fact fertility medicine for Savannah to get pregnant as soon as possible.
“You can bring them home, but you don’t have to take them. With a slight frown, Channing continued, “T don’t want to see you secretly take some medicine again, like what happened two years ago
“I–I know. I actually haven’t taken any for a long time,” Savannah explained in a soft voice awkwardly.
Her lovely face flushed faintly. With her after–shower glow, she looked like peach blossoms in the spring from afar, making it hard to take one’s eyes off her for even a fleeting moment. Perhaps because Savannah was too tired that day, there was even a trace of alluring tenderness in her usual elegant bearing.
In an instant, Channing’s indifferent eyes darkened.
Before Savannah could recover from the embarrassment of being caught taking the fertility medication two years ago, Channing’s passionate, fierce kisses came crashing down on her overwhelmingly like wildfire the
next moment.
Savannah fell backward uncontrollably. Her body was incredibly flexible from dancing since childhood, and Channing couldn’t resist tightening his grip around her waist.
As she guarded her belly and subconsciously wanted to push him away, Channing’s phone, which he had casually left on the couch just then, suddenly rang.
In an instant, the atmosphere quieted down. Channing rationally withdrew himself and said in a hoarse voice, “Go to bed first. I’ll answer the phone in the study.”
Before Savannah could respond, Channing already picked up his phone and walked out of the room.
Savannah could hear the muffled voices from the study and make out a few words here and there.
“What’s wrong again?” There was a pause. “Have a good rest. We’ll see each other soon. Be good.”
Savannah paused for a moment. Despite the doubts in her mind, she didn’t dare to clear them up. She could only force herself to lie down on the bed, close her eyes, and go to sleep. Unfortunately, forcing herself to do so would only lead to a terrible sleep.
The entire night, Savannah was troubled by nightmares. In her stupor, she even recalled how Channing madly pinned her down on the bed last month right after coming home from a two–week business trip.
She had struggled nervously and softly reminded him to take a shower first, so he forcefully carried her to the bathroom. Her whimpers, accompanied by the sound of flowing water, had echoed in the bathroom throughout the night.
It was also that time when Channing had forgotten to use protection, and Savannah didn’t take the contraceptive pills either on the assumption that she was infertile since she had never gotten pregnant in the
past two years.
Now th
that she thought about it, she realized that the baby in her womb must have been conceived at that time.

Early in the morning. Savannah sat at the dining table with dark circles under her eyes. She bit her lip troubledly, lost in deep thoughts.
“What’s wrong?” An apathetic male voice suddenly sounded.
Savannah paused for a moment. When she raised her head, she saw Channing sitting across from her and looking at her unfathomably..
Her face turned pale. “N–Nothing. I fell asleep last night without drying my hair thoroughly, so I’m having a bit of a headache.”
“You’ve never mentioned this happening before Channing narrowed his eyes and said. “Take some medicine later”
The butler named Gilbert Hayes happened to enter the house at that point, and before Savannah could nod, he asked Channing in surprise, “Medicine? Did you already know about it, Mr. Muir?”
Channing glanced sideways at him and asked, “What am I supposed to know?”
“It
It seems that someone in the house keeping team is sick,” Gilbert said worriedly. “The housekeepers were sorting out the garbage today, and some paper scraps of a medical report fell out from one of the several garbage bags taken out from the Muir residence. We’re not sure whose report it is and what illness they’re diagnosed with, but for the safety of you two, I plan to get all the housekeepers to do a physical examination today.”
After all, the health of the Muir family’s heir was no small matter, so Gilbert could never tolerate housekeepers who intentionally concealed their illnesses.
Savannah, who was about to dig into her breakfast, paused when she heard Gilbert’s words. She garnered all her strength to keep herself from trembling
Still, Gilbert’s words reminded Channing of something. The latter glanced at Savannah and asked, “The company also organized a routine physical examination last week. Have you gotten your report yet?”
“Yes.
Savannah was well aware that the wisest thing to do in such a situation was to confess to Channing about her pregnancy, obediently wait for him to arrange an induced abortion for her, and lastly, bid farewell to her baby.
Perhaps due to her motherly instincts, Savannah clenched her fingers and changed her mind at the last minute, saying, “The doctor said I’m fine. He said I’m just overworked recently and advised me to rest more.”
“I can’t help you with that.” Like a merciless capitalist, Channing withdrew his gaze coldly upon hearing that. “There’s a lot of work at the company. If you wish to reduce your workload and have more time to rest, you’ll have to wait until the termination of our contract two years later, Ms. Turner,” he said objectively and calmly.
Channing added, “Since you don’t need to prepare for pregnancy, you should be able to

Savannah pursed her lips and didn’t know what to say,

At that moment, the vigorous, resolute tone of a woman rang out. “Who said Savannah doesn’t need to prepare for pregnancy?”
Channing’s mother, Martha Muir, came in hastily from outside. For a woman of her age, she was in good shape, and luxury brands covered her from head to toe. She frowned and glanced at Savannah in displeasure, “You’ve been married for three years. Savannah, if you really can’t get pregnant naturally, then come with me to the hospital for an in vitro fertilization!”
