Savannah had not expected to meet Edgar, whom she didn’t see at Zendaya’s birthday party, in Arrats Club
instead.
Shuddering, she instinctively hung her head low.“”
Whatever that was meant to be, would be..
Among the group of rich and famous people who approached Channing to strike up a conversation, a charming, well–dressed gentleman in a blue suit also joined the interaction, gracefully clutching a wine glass.
His opening remark was, “Channing, why did you come discussing business with the daughter of a murderer?”
Savannah tightly clenched her fists, feeling a chilling sensation envelop her heart.
She not only grew up alongside Zendaya but was also childhood friends with Edgar, Zendaya’s younger brother.
However, maybe due to their proximity in age, their relationship had always been strained.
Edgar would tease her whenever he felt like it, and Savannah was not one to back down. When provoked, she would even engage in physical altercations with Edgar. On one occasion, she gave Edgar a nosebleed, providing Zendaya with plenty of material for teasing them both in the days that followed.
Alas, their strained yet still somewhat harmonious relationship came to an end a decade ago.
When Savannah’s father, Walter, who worked as a chauffeur, was driving Edgar and Zendaya’s father, Paul, to the airport, a sudden and tragic car accident occurred. Walter survived the accident but fell into a vegetative state, while Paul tragically lost his life on the spot.
Had it truly been an accident, Walter might not have faced blame.
However, when the police examined the dashboard camera footage, they uncovered evidence that Walter had deliberately swerved the car, leading to the fateful accident.
Since then, the Yates family regarded Walter as an enemy. As Walter’s daughter, Savannah was compelled to bear the burden of her father’s responsibilities. She had endured significant hardship at the hands of the impulsive Edgar and was even nearly sold into prostitution by him.
Savannah could never forget that day.
She was pinned down by seven or eight hooligans at her father’s sickbed. They brandished a contract related to an underground red–light district while menacingly addressing her.
“You must be Savannah. You’re quite the beauty. We were sent by Mr. Edgar Yates. He wants you to sign this contract, which will bind you to us indefinitely. Your daily task would be to receive guests as a form of atonement for your father’s heinous crimes. You should sign this quickly if you’re wise enough. Otherwise, don’t blame us for taking you by force in front of your incapacitated father!”
Overwhelmed with emotion. Savannah sobbed uncontrollably and found herself unable to utter a word.

Ultimately, she steeled herself to take a life–threatening gamble. She extended one leg out of the window, ready to make a desperate leap from the building. This audacious move unnerved and scared away the hooligans, who were concerned that the situation might escalate and draw the attention of law enforcement.
In the years that followed, whenever Savannah revisited that harrowing memory in her dreams, it would tear her apart, leaving her body trembling with the haunting recollection.
Channing was aware of all these circumstances, yet in the face of Edgar’s sarcasm, his expression remained unwavering and unchanged. ‘After so many years, you still haven’t gotten used to seeing the murderer’s daughter?”
He did not clarify anything for her nor clear her name.
That was because he also acknowledged that Savannah’s father was a murderer.
Edgar smiled with satisfaction. The next moment, he looked at Savannah’s delicate face that had turned pale and remarked cruelly, “Since she is the daughter of a murderer, she shouldn’t just stand here and do nothing. She should at least do something that would please everyone.
He added, “Channing, don’t tell me you’re going to be petty and not allow that just because you’ve enjoyed her for three years.
“What do you think?” Channing lightly tapped the table with his long fingers and asked, “How do you to please you?”
“Look. There’s a pole there, isn’t it?” Edgar said.

Edgar then shifted his attention to Savannah, who was attired in a black business suit, looking dull and boring. “Channing, you might not be aware of this, but your assistant’s mother works as a housekeeper for the Guthrie family. She learned to dance from Winona at a young age and is quite good at it. How about we have her perform a dance for us now?” he suggested with a hint of mockery in his tone.
He thought, “Winona is a nationally renowned dancer, celebrated for her performances at the prestigious National Art Hall, where she showcases her exquisite and graceful dances.
But a lowly, humble woman like Savannah only deserves to perform in a VIP private room in front of a group of obscene men.”
Apart from Winona, Channing wouldn’t stand up for any other woman, not even if Savannah held the title of his wife in name only.
So, Edgar was sure that Channing would not reject his suggestion.
Sure enough, Channing took a sip of red wine and looked indifferently at Savannah. He said, “Could you say no to Mr. Yates?”
Savannah’s heart ached, and a cold chill ran through her limbs.
Her despair stemmed from both Channing’s apparent indifference to her plight and Edgar’s mention of her past dancing experience. She stammered, “I haven’t danced in a long time, because many years ago, 1—”

Edgar interrupted Savannah with a sneer and took out a bottle of whiskey. “You’re just an assistant brought here by your boss. You are to do whatever you are told! If you’re going to look for some lame excuses to avoid this, fine! Down this bottle of whiskey in one go, and I’ll let you off the hook”
He thought to himself. You don’t want to dance?
I’ll make you dance!!
Edgar shot Savannah a malevolent glare. She never failed to ignite an uncontrollable rage within his heart. Every time he saw her, he just wanted to torment her mercilessly.
Observing the tense situation, Channing frowned, and his stony demeanor softened slightly. He then made an abrupt suggestion, saying, “Since you don’t want to dance, just drink and leave.”
Edgar narrowed his eyes and asked, “What? Are you trying to help her?”
“How is this helping her?” Channing’s lips curled to form a faint smirk as he looked at Savannah and said. coldly, “Go on, drink.”
“I… I don’t drink,” Savannah stammered.
With clenched fists, Savannah eventually gained control over the trembling in her voice. After a brief moment, she resolutely declared, “I will dance.”
She would’ve made a choice if she had a chance to..
Alas, at that moment, she had no choice at all.
Consequently, Savannah made a determined effort to calm her nerves. She slowly unbuttoned her suit jacket, kicked off her shoes, and, without daring to meet Channing’s gaze, walked barefoot onto the stage for the pole dancing.
For a brief moment, the deafening music enveloping the venue seemed to freeze. Then, with a resounding drumbeat, Savannah’s tanned and agile hand gripped the pole firmly. She moved with the grace and allure of an enchantress, sensually twining herself around the pole as she commenced her dance.
Before the mesmerized audience, she spun, twisted, and glided gracefully along the pole. A sequence intricate dance moves appeared effortlessly executed under Savannah’s precise control.

Her elegant form resembled a masterpiece, moving in flawless synchronization with the music to reveal captivating and exquisite movements.
Rather than deeming it vulgar or lewd, the audience regarded her performance as untouchably elegant.
As the dance ended, everyone in the private room was left in awe of her performance. Numerous younger scions had flushed faces, their eyes unable to conceal their profound admiration.
However, Savannah did not see all that.

Her chest heaved with each breath as she stood motionless in her spot. Following the dance, waves of darkness clouded her vision, and her previously injured spine tingled. The sharp, intense pain left her drenched in sweat.
She didn’t need to think to know she must look very ugly right now.
Unable to restrain the tears welling up in her eyes, Savannah called out Channing’s name subconsciously, her limbs trembling. At that very moment, a pair of warm hands enveloped her, scooping her up.
Instantly, the darkness that shrouded her vision faded away, and Savannah finally saw Channing’s tense countenance. He appeared to be holding back something and looked noticeably different from his usual state of indifference.
She asked hesitantly, “Mr. Muir? Where are we going?”
Channing said curtly, “Home”
She was shocked and wondered, “Home? But we’ve just arrived, and we haven’t even started discussing business yet.”
Savannah’s eyes widened in astonishment, but she refrained from saying much. Leaving the place was precisely what she had wished for.
Consequently, she nestled herself in Channing’s arms, and together, they made their way to the underground parking lot. However, as Savannah settled into her seat and was about to fasten her seat belt, she could already feel Channing’s hot breath against her ear.
Savannah was immediately overcome by a tingling sensation that coursed through her entire body, and her heartbeat quickened. ‘Aren’t we heading home, Mr. Muir?” she inquired.
“Yes,” Channing answered.
Channing took her hand and adjusted her seat, lowering it down before speaking in a hushed tone, “We’ll head home two hours later.”
