The atmosphere in the room grew heavy and stifling.

When Gilbert brought up the report again, Savannah was already on edge. Now that Channing had explicitly mentioned investigating the report himself, she lost her grip on her spoon, and it fell into the bowl with a clang.
She couldn’t help but think, “Is Channing planning to personally investigate the report?”
Through his formidable means, Channing could expose the truth soon.
Savannah feared that she might be forcefully taken to the hospital for surgery today.
In her anxiety, Savannah’s fingertips clenched unconsciously, and her complexion grew even paler.
At that moment, Channing’s sharp gaze was fixed on her, and he noticed her distress. “Is something wrong? Do you have a connection to that report?”
“I… I accidentally burned myself with the oatmeal porridge. Savannah struggled to control the trembling in her voice and managed to speak. “Mr. Muir, please be careful while eating your oatmeal porridge later.”
“Is that so?” Channing responded without hesitation, still eyeing Savannah intensely. He added with a meaningful tone, “Gilbert, since the report isn’t related to Mrs. Muir, fetch the report now.”
Gilbert’s face turned even bitterer as he replied cautiously, “Mr. Muir, I can’t do that… We initially thought we might identify the culprit by repeating the medical examination. Furthermore, the fragment of the report got soiled with trash, so I disposed of it…
Moreover, knowing Channing’s extreme germophobia, Gilbert hadn’t anticipated that he’d want to inspect the discarded remains of the report this time.
Upon hearing this, Channing instantly fell silent, and his face darkened.
Gilbert was old. As he spoke, he wiped the sweat from his forehead, clearly overwhelmed by the pressure.
Observing this situation, Savannah bit her lip in worry. She could endure the consequences of her actions, but she couldn’t bear to see others suffer on her behalf.
Taking a deep breath, she finally made up her mind to stand up and confess everything.
However, at this moment, hurried footsteps echoed in the room.
“Mr. Muir, there’s an urgent matter concerning the Bruiville land. You might need to go there immediately!” Lucas rushed into the room.
“Let’s go.”
Channing promptly set aside his fork and rose from his seat.

With those words, his tall figure swiftly disappeared. He didn’t even cast a glance back at Savannahı.
Gilbert, taken aback, couldn’t help but comment, “Mrs. Muir, weren’t you usually the first to learn about Mr. Muir’s business matters? And didn’t you accompany him wherever he went? Since when did you get replaced by this young man who has only been with Muir Group for three months?”
“P–Perhaps Mr. Muir wanted to give a chance to the newcomer… Savannah’s voice was hoarse.
“How is this possible?” Gilbert scrutinized Savannah’s downcast expression and quickly added, “The Bruiville land project must not be that significant, and Mr. Muir also cares about your fragile health, so he brought. Lucas along!”
“Maybe…” Savannah forced a smile.
In truth, what she hadn’t disclosed to Gilbert was that the Bruiville project was indeed vital.
She had been overseeing it, putting in considerable effort.
Nevertheless, after just one night, Lucas had taken charge of the project, and Channing hadn’t even bothered offering her an explanation.
If Savannah’s guess was correct, Winona was returning from abroad. Channing was also planning to terminate the marriage contract prematurely, hence he had started training Lucas. This was done to ensure that Savannah would leave with a clean slate.
Savannah believed Channing was ruthless. However, she had no choice but to accept it
Consequently, she had no intention of staying at home and allowing everyone to wallow in her misery.
Following breakfast, Savannah prepared herself and made her way to the hospital where Walter resided.
In the VIP ward, Walter no longer appeared as the handsome man Savannah remembered from ten years ago. Back then, Walter would let Savannah playfully ride on his back at any time, bringing her joy.
Now, his skin was pallid, and his cheeks had sunken in, resembling a withered tree. Only the numbers displayed on the machine beside him hinted at some vitality within his body.
Still, for some reason, Savannah clung to the stubborn belief that Walter would awaken.
“Dad, if you wake up, you can prove your innocence, and I can prove that I’m not the daughter of a murderer…” With teary eyes, Savannah dried a warm

Perhaps it was mere wishful thinking or even foolishness, but this conviction steeled Savannah’s resolve. It was this belief that led her to strike a deal with Channing, keeping Walter alive when Delia had insisted on removing his oxygen mask three years ago, declaring, “I don’t want to waste money on a murderer.”
This was because Savannah refused to believe that Walter, the man who had instilled in her principles of righteousness and kindness since childhood, could ever harm another person.
So, if Walter woke up, the true perpetrator who had hidden behind the scenes for ten years, the one

responsible for Paul’s murder, would finally face justice.
It was already noon in the blink of an eye.
Savannah stayed at the hospital until lunchtime. The doctors were likely on their lunch break, so she instructed the caretaker to look after Walter and hastily left the ward.
Just as she was about to walk to the elevator, a ligure in a white coat came over from the corner.
Upon spotting Savaimah, Richard Ross expressed surprise, “Ms. Turner, weren’t you supposed to be at work today? What brings you here all of a sudden?”
“Dr. Ross… Savannah felt a sense of relief when she looked at Richard’s gentle demeanor and warm smile. “T
my father.” didn’t have many tasks at the company today, so I decided to visit
“Have you been crying?” Richard inquired with concern.
However, he already knew the answer to his question when he noticed Savannah’s reddened, pitiful eyes.
Savannah rubbed her eyes embarrassedly and changed the subject. “Dr. Ross, how is Shelley progressing in her dance lessons recently?”
“That little girl mentioned that her movements couldn’t compare to yours, Ms. Turner. Richard chuckled and added, “Whenever you have the time, you could give her more guidance.”
Savannah did not refuse.
Though Savannah couldn’t pursue a professional dancing career due to an old injury, she retained her love for dance. Consequently, she often taught children to dance during her free time outside of work, considering it an enjoyable way to stay active.
Shelley happened to be Richard’s niece.
After becoming Walter’s attending physician and learning of Savannah’s interest in dance, Richard enthusiastically suggested that Shelley take dance lessons from Savannah.
They had been getting along well for several years.
However, just as Savannah was about to take out her phone to schedule a lesson with Richard, the elevator suddenly opened, revealing Edgar inside. He was dressed in a white coat identical to Richard’s, and he appeared as though he had just rushed over.
Upon seeing Savannah and Richard in such close proximity, Edgar playfully arched his eyebrows. Then, he cheekily sent a video call invitation to Channing, pretending to be utterly innocent. “Well, what a coincidence. Ms. Turner, did my unexpected arrival disrupt your plans?”
