Chapter 6

As soon as I said that, Merla’s expression fell instantly.

“Nicole, is it because you’ve finally tasted power that you have to ruin me like this? I already agreed to compensate you. Why won’t you let this go?

“Have you never heard the saying, ‘Show mercy when possible’?

“Besides, we were once on the same cheer squad in high school. Are you really not going to show me even a little kindness?”

Oh, what a perfect example of ‘show mercy when possible’.

I could not help but ask, “Then tell me, Merla, when you blocked my way earlier, did you think about showing mercy? When you smashed my car, did our so-called ‘friendship’ ever cross your mind?”

“Oh, right.” I nodded lightly, my lips curling into a cold smile. “People like you only talk about morality when you’re the one suffering. That’s when you suddenly remember the importance of ‘kindness’.”

Merla was rendered speechless, standing frozen in place.

As we spoke, Harry walked over. “Queen Nicole, the car is almost completely wrecked, and I can cancel the engagement now if you’d like.”

Hearing this, Merla panicked, her face flushing red with anger. “Harry! How can you do this to me? Didn’t you say you loved me the most?”

I smiled, watching her as she finally started to lose control.

“No rush. Let’s call her father over first.”

The moment she heard I wanted to call her father, Merla came back to life. “Fine, fine! I’ll call my dad right now. I want to see if you still dare act tough once he gets here.”

I had seen plenty of arrogant rich girls before, but none as delusional as Merla.

Did she really think her father, just a mere elder of the Ivanov family, could protect her?

She had no idea about the Genovese family’s true power and status in the entire Mafia world. If I wanted to, I could send just one squad of my convoy and mercenaries to wipe the Ivanov and Reno families off the map.

Right in front of me, Merla dialed her father’s number.

“Dad, it’s me, Merla. You need to come to the Reno family’s hotel right away! Someone here is devaluing you! They even said the Ivanov family elders are nothing! Dad, hurry up and teach them a lesson!” She added fuel to the fire, trying to stir up conflict between her father and me.

I could not be bothered to explain. A father who could raise a daughter like Merla would not be any better.

If she truly believed her father could cover for her, then fine. I would love to see just how he planned to teach me ‘a lesson’.

Coincidentally, her father’s name was already on the guest list for tonight’s meeting. Of course, with his status, his name was buried on the very last page.

After the call, Merla immediately regained her arrogant attitude.

Her chin was practically tilted to the sky as she looked down at me. “I was going to let this slide, Nicole, but you just had to push me. So what if you’re the Genovese family’s Mafia Queen? This isn’t your territory. This is the land of the Reno and Ivanov families!

“If you apologize now, there’s still time to make things right. But once my dad arrives, it’ll be too late.”

1 scoffed at her words.

“Merla, do you still think you’re standing in the middle of the cheerleading court, wearing a little skirt and shaking your pom

poms?

“Wake up. That was a childish high school game. The only people you could command were a bunch of idiots willing to follow your lead. This? This isn’t your stage.”

Hearing that, Merla rolled up her sleeves, ready to charge at me.

However, Harry held her back, leaving her to stand there, fumming in frustration.

At that moment, my bodyguard leaned in and whispered, “Queen Nicole, do you want me to call in the mercenary convoy?”

1 fixed my gaze on the approaching Maybach in the distance, my eyes narrowing slightly. “Let’s wait and see. I want to have a little fun with this father-daughter duo tonight.”
