Chapter 19
Shawn’s POV
“How dare you?”
Aurora’s voice was sharp like a whip.
The two guards shifted instantly, stepping aside for her to step forward. She looked terrifying, even though she was calm. Her shoulders were high, her chin was slightly lifted, and her eyes were hard.
Shawn blinked. For a second he almost took a step back in fear.
“You have no right to talk to me like that,” Aurora said firmly. “Not after everything you did.”
“Aurora-”
“No,” she cut in, her voice rising. “You made my life hell because of Tiffany. You believed every lie she fed you. You humiliated me several times And when I was bleeding in front of you, you turned away.” Her gaze never wavered.
Shawn’s throat tightened. “I-”
“You don’t get to stand here and throw accusations about me ‘selling myself‘ when you sold our family to Tiffany.”
The guards stayed still, like statues.
Shawn rubbed the back of his neck, trying to hold on to his anger. “You shouldn’t be telling me this crap like you’re some saint.” He spat. “So what’s your end game, Aurora? You disappear, then suddenly show up in a billionaire’s mansion. Are you trying to marry yourself to one of the brothers? Is that it? That’s the plan?”
Her eyes narrowed, but she said nothing.
He stepped closer, but the guards stiffened causing him to pause.
“Newsflash,” he continued with a bitter edge in his tone, “They’ll use you and dump you. You are no longer the young woman people admired. Once you’re done serving whatever purpose they have, they’ll throw you out like yesterday’s trash.”
Aurora’s lips curved into an amused smirk. “Is that what you really think?”
“I don’t think, I know it,” Shawn shot back. “People like them don’t care about you. You’re
just a pawn.”
She tilted her head slightly. “Then let me let you in on a little secret.”
Shawn crossed his arms, trying to look unimpressed even though his pulse jumped. “Go on. Enlighten me.”
Her smirk deepened. “I’m not here to charm anyone. I’m not their guest. I’m family.”
Shawn frowned. “Family?”
“I,” Aurora said clearly, “am one of the Redmonds.”
The words landed like a hammer blow.

For a long beat Shawn simply stared at her. Then a short, mocking laugh escaped him. “You’re… what?”
“You heard me.”
He shook his head, snorting. “You’re so delusional it’s almost sad. Big people like this? They wouldn’t even give you a second glance. Once you’re of no use, they’ll dispose of you. Don’t even think for a second that they care about you.”
Aurora’s smile didn’t fade. “You still don’t get it. They’re my brothers. This is my home.” Shawn blinked. A memory flickered in his mind about Aurora crying one night, mumbling something about her brothers, but he had dismissed it back then.
He forced a dry laugh. “You expect me to believe that you’re part of this family? The Redmond Empire?”
“I don’t expect anything from you,” Aurora replied coolly. “I don’t care if you believe.”
Shawn’s hands curled into fists. “You’re lying.”
“Why would I lie? What would I gain? I don’t need to fake anything.”
Shawn snorted. “Oh please, you’re lying to me because you want me to think you’re more than you really are.”
She shook her head in amusement. “Keep deceiving yourself.”
Shawn sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Aurora. That envelope ruined me. Those investors love you. With you back, and with the Redmonds‘ help, everything can be fixed. I don’t think you understand the damage you did to me, to our family.”

Aurora’s eyes flashed. “Excuse me? Damage to our family? What family? I wasn’t the one who killed our daughter for another woman. I wasn’t the one who beat his pregnant wife until she lost another baby.”
Shawn flinched. “I didn’t know-”
“You didn’t care, Shawn,” she snapped.
His voice cracked. “I love you, Aurora.” He took a step toward her, ignoring the guards‘ warning look. “Don’t break what we had. We can fix this. I’ll break off all ties with Tiffany. I’ll make it right. We can have another child, build everything again.”
Aurora’s laugh was soft but it was icy. “You think this is just about Tiffany?” She shook her head slowly. “It’s too late for that, Shawn.”
He reached a hand out again. “Aurora-”
“Don’t touch me.” Her voice was hard enough to stop his plea. “I am never coming back.”
He let his hand fall.
