“What did you say! Buried?!”
Ralph suddenly felt a sharp pain in his heart, but quickly dismissed it as impossible!
She was clearly fine!
It’s fake, Mary is messing with him!

Put Mary on the phone right now!”

Ralph stared at the address, his knuckles turning white as he gripped the phone, his pupils contracting violently.
He didn’t care about Karen’s pregnancy anymore. He ran out, got in his car, and sped home at top speed!
Seeing the empty house with no trace of Mary, not even her scent…
He felt as if someone was choking him, unable to breathe, gasping for air.

As dark red blood hit the floor, Ralph blacked out and collapsed.
When he woke again, he opened his panicked eyes to find himself in the hospital’s psychotherapy room.
He looked around dazedly. A doctor in a white coat said, “Ralph, your hypnosis session is over. How do you feel now?”
Ralph’s thoughts snapped back into place.
Everything that had happened was just hypnosis.
Because Mary wouldn’t accept him having a child with Karen and divorced him.
But he thought having a child wouldn’t affect his life with Mary.
Yet Mary said they couldn’t go back.
So she bet him, making him undergo hypnosis to simulate what would happen after he had a child.
Clearly, he lost the bet.
In the hypnosis, Mary died, but thankfully it was all fake.
Mary’s depression, electroshock therapy, donating blood and skin to Karen, kowtowing to him, and her death-all hypnosis!
His intimate moments with Karen in the hospital room were also hypnotic illusions!
But in real life-
He and Mary had been married ten years. After she lost her uterus in an accident, he implanted his frozen sperm into Karen, so she could bear them a child to inherit the family

To make Mary feel involved, he had her take care of Karen. But Mary kept fighting with him. over it, eventually asking for a divorce.

Ralph grabbed his coat and called Mary immediately after leaving the therapy room.

Ralph’s grip tightened on his phone, his voice turning icy. “Head Nurse Sarah, you’re in management. Words affect careers!
My wife has status. She’d never become a battlefield nurse!”
His first instinct was that Sarah and Mary were conspiring against him!
Sarah stammered an explanation, “Ralph, every word is true. When she signed up, I wondered too-who’d abandon such a husband and home for the deadly Western Front?
So she went behind your back!”
Ralph’s pupils contracted.
Hypnosis session flashbacks surged-the crushing impact of Mary’s death hitting him anew!
He couldn’t let her die!
He threatened Sarah, “Mary’s your subordinate. My wife was sent to the front without my consent. Your hospital must recall her!”
