CHAPTER 61

RYAN’S POV

Thankfully Dad and Mom were not outside waiting for us, because if they had been, it would have been so damn weird. I sighed, trying to calm my racing heart, and Anna glanced at me with wide eyes

Ryanare they out there?she whispered nervously

I shook my head. No, baby. They’re not there. We’re good.”

She let out a shaky breath of relief and shook her head. I can’t believe thisI can’t believe what just

happened.”

Me neither,I admitted quietly

But before I could even breathe again, she slapped my arm. It’s your fault, Ryan! We got caught because

of you.”

I caught her wrist and pulled her close, my voice dropping husky, low. That’s what you do to me, Anna. You drive me fucking crazy. I have no control when it comes to you.”

Her eyes narrowed, and she pushed me away roughly just as Doctor Kellan appeared in the hallway with an envelope in his hand. This is your discharge paper, Anna,he said smoothly, his lips twitching like he was holding back laughter. You can leave the hospital now. I can see you’re fully wellafter everything that happened in there.”

Anna’s cheeks went crimson, her entire face burning in emberrassment as she shifted uncomfortably. Doctor-she began, but the words stuck in her throat

He chuckled, clearly amused. The man was handsome, even though he was in his late forties. Still had that youthful charm about him, and from the way Anna blushed harder, I didn’t like it one bit

Alright, Doc, that’s enough,I cut in sharply, wrapping an arm around Anna possessively. Stop teasing my girl.”

Doctor Kellan grinned knowingly but handed me the paper. Alright, I’ll stop. Congratulations, Anna. Take care of yourself. He turned away, but not before tossing one last smirk over his shoulder

Anna buried her face in her hands. I’m never going to live this down.”

I kissed her temple. Ignore him. Come on, let’s go, baby. Dad and Mom should be waiting for us.”

She nodded slowly. I kissed her lips softly, and together we walked out. It was already late, the night air cooler, and I spotted Dad standing by the car, his expression unreadable, while Mom was sitting inside, her face turned away, her shoulders stiff as if she’d been crying

When Dad saw us, he shook his head and got into the car. His voice was firm but calm. We’ll talk at your house, Ryan.”

From the way Mom avoided looking at me, her face hidden but still carrying the redness of tears, I could tell they’d argued. And from the tension in the air, I knew it wasn’t settled. Not even close

Anna looked scared, her hand trembling in mine. I squeezed it and whispered, Don’t you worry, I’ll explain everything. You don’t need to say a word. Just stand by me, support me, that’s all I ask.”

She nodded, still pale, but she agreed. We entered my car, and I drove off. The silence was thick, but I kept my hand on hers, squeezing it every few seconds, kissing her knuckles whenever I could. Everything will be fine, baby. I promise. Everything will be fine.”

When we got home, I saw them both standing outside, waiting. Mom looked calmer now but still drained. Dad stood solid beside her. I had already changed the passcode to my house door; I wasn’t making the same mistake twice, not after the last time when they walked in on us in Anna’s room. This time, only

could open the door

Anna clung to me tightly, her nails digging into my palm, and I typed in the code. We all stepped inside, the silence deafening

Dad’s voice broke it first. Get us water, Ryan. And Anna, take your seat.”

I hesitated, but Anna clung tighter. I kissed her hand in front of them deliberately and whispered, I’m

coming, baby.”

She looked at me like she was about to cry but nodded. I went and fetched the water, placing it in front of Dad. He picked it up, turned to Mom, and his voice softened in an instant. Baby, do you want some?”

She shook her head at first, eyes still red, her lips trembling. But Dad wasn’t having it. He held the glass close, smiling faintly, Come on, sweetheart, just a sip. Please.”

She sighed, wiped her tears with the back of her hand, and finally gave in, taking the glass and drinking. A tiny smile tugged at her lips as she glanced at him

Watching them, I realized again why Dad was Alpha and Mom was his Luna. They were a perfect match. No one knew Mom better than Dad. He always knew how to reach her, to melt her walls, to soften her pain. I always noticed how he would first allow Mom have her way on an issue before interfering in it and passing a better judgement. And I knew if I could get his approval, if I could convince him, then maybe, just maybe, this fight wasn’t going to last forever

He kissed her softly, right there in front of us. I raised a brow, but he only smirked. You shouldn’t have a problem watching us kiss,Dad said casually, since you both can have sex in a hospital room.”

I cleared my throat awkwardly, heat rising to my cheeks, while Anna nearly buried herself in my side, emberrassed beyond words

Dad smiled at Mom again, making her blush as he took her hand and turned back to face us. Mom was calmer now, though her eyes still carried that trace of sadness

And then Dad began speaking…
