Chapter 19
Blake and Ryan used every method they could think of-[]
Political pressure, material temptation, groveling pleas, crazy harassment, even self–destructive guilt trips…]
Everything crashed and burned against Madison’s fortress of ice and indifference, leaving only wreckage and deeper despair.]
Finally, they exhausted their last strength and saw a truth they refused to accept-
They had completely, permanently lost her.[]
Not because she was heartless, but because they had personally destroyed any possible tender feelings, along with her dignity and life.]]
On a drizzly evening, Blake parked across from Madison’s apartment.[]
He didn’t get out, just watched that window glowing with warm light through the rain–blurred windshield]
He dialed that number he’d been blocked from countless times, predictably hearing the cold busy tone.[]
He got out of the car and walked through the rain to the apartment building step by step. Rain soaked his expensive suit, hair plastered to his forehead–more disheveled than ever.[]
He looked up, letting the icy rain wash over his face, trying to douse the bone–deep agony in his heart.[]
Almost simultaneously, another sports car screeched up and stopped hard.[]
Ryan jumped out, equally soaked, eyes showing near–breakdown madness and one last desperate hope.
The brothers exchanged glances in the rain, both seeing the same despair and stubborn obsession in each other’s eyes.]]
They didn’t fight or argue anymore–like two declawed beasts with only enough strength left for a final cry.
They walked into the apartment building one after another.]]
Outside Madison’s apartment, Blake raised his hand and pressed the doorbell.]
The door opened!
Madison stood inside wearing comfortable home clothes, holding a half–read book. Warm yellow light spread behind her, outlining her calm, distant silhouette.
Sering the two rain–soaked, bedraggled men outside, her eyes showed no emotion–no surprise, no disgust, just bland indifference like looking at two strange delivery guys []
“Madison
Blake’s voice was dry and shaking, rainwater dripping from his jawline. “I know… nothing I say matters now… but please… give me one more diance just one 1
His words were cut short. Ryan shoved him aside and dropped to his knees on the cold tiles!
“Madison!” Ryan looked up. face streaming with rain or tears, voice completely broken: “I was wrong! I really know I was wrong! Hit me! Scream at me! Kill me if you want! just don’t throw me away please… I can’t live without you…”
The once cocky Morrison playboy now groveled in the mud like dust, begging for a single glance.[]
Blake watched his brother’s state, his heart feeling torn apart. He closed his eyes and slowly, stiffly bent his own knees. Pride and dignity meant nothing against the terror of completely losing her
Two men who duce controlled her life now knelt like beaten dogs at her door, begging for possibilities they had personally murdered[]
Madisyn quietly watched them, ohnerving their most pathetic, humble, “devoted” moment. Her gaze was calm as still water, not even a ripple.[]
After a long silence, she finally spoke, without hate or resentment–just complete, settled exhaustion and distance]
“Seeing you two,” she said slowly, each word crystal clear, hammering into their hearts, “only makes me remember all that disgusting pain. “[]
Blake and Ryan looked up sharply, fares deathly pale []
“Please, che paused, eyes sweeping over them will final, unstiakeside resolve, “disappear from my world forever“]
Then she stepped back and gently closed the door!}
