Chapter 12
Chapter 12
Hearing this, Adrian felt his blood freeze.
The reason he’d agreed to be with Seraphina was because his half–brother had threatened him again with his illegitimate status and his mother’s explicit photos.
If this came out, it would hit him even harder than when he was sixteen.
Just when he didn’t know what to do, Seraphina appeared, stopped everything, and destroyed all his mother’s compromising photos right in
front of him.
In that moment, the sword hanging over Adrian’s head was finally removed.
So he was grateful to Seraphina.
At sixteen, Violet had saved him.
At twenty–six, Seraphina had washed away all the ugliness of his past.
He had no choice, so he agreed to be with Seraphina.
But now, all of this had been orchestrated by Seraphina working with someone else, just to force him to be with her.
The people inside hadn’t noticed Adrian outside and kept talking.
“He’ll never know. Not in this lifetime.”
Hearing Seraphina’s words, Adrian stepped back from the door and stood quietly outside, even controlling his breathing.
He wanted to know what else Seraphina might say when he wasn’t around.
And she didn’t disappoint.
“Playing Adrian is way too easy. I thought their ten–year relationship would be more solid than that.”
“For a little benefit from my dad, he’d get on his knees and beg like a dog, personally throwing away ten years of feelings.”
Hearing this, Adrian’s breath caught.
So in her mind, that’s the kind of person he was.
Adrian gasped for air like a drowning man clutching a lifeline, He suddenly strode in, eyes bloodshot, staring deadly at Seraphina.
When Seraphina heard the noise and looked up, she met his gaze head on.
Without her usual gentle facade, Seraphina looked almost unrecognizable. But thinking of what she’d just said, it all made perfect sense.
He walked right up to her, looking down from above at her panicked expression. When he spoke again, his voice was full of gritted teeth:
“Seraphina, so the photo thing was you working with him to set me up?”
The moment Adrian spoke, Seraphina knew he’d heard everything. She was panicked, sure, but she quickly composed herself.
She tentatively reached for Adrian’s hand, and when he didn’t pull away, she felt more confident, putting back on her usual act.
“Adrian, let me explain… Ah!”
But before she could finish, Adrian slapped her to the ground.
Chapter 12
Seraphina touched her burning, swollen face, staring at Adrian in disbelief. Soon her eyes filled with tears, blurring her vision so she couldn’t see his expression clearly: “Adrian, how could you hit me?”
Her trembling voice seemed to plead her grievance, but the trick that usually worked like a charm had no effect this time–instead it made hims
even angrier.
“Even now you’re still trying to lie!”
Adrian looked at Seraphina, barely recognizing her.
Seraphina covered her face, glaring at Adrian: “Adrian, you actually HIT me?!”
“Because of that BITCH Violet, you’d actually hit me?!”
Adrian’s anger exploded. Hearing her words, he grabbed her throat, his voice vicious:
“I’m asking you one more time–was the photo thing your setup or not?”
The cold voice in Seraphina’s ear made her shudder. She didn’t dare hide it anymore, crying with tears streaming down her face: “It was me!!
did all of it!”
Finally getting confirmation, Adrian’s eyes grew even redder.
“Why did you have to drive Violet away? I already agreed to be with you!”
Hearing his words, Seraphina immediately shot back:
“I’m the daughter of the Vale family, the daughter of a top university president. If it wasn’t for me, you think your path would’ve been so smooth? Agree to be with me? That’s not what I wanted!”
“I want you to love me completely, depend on me. Why should I share you with some peasant? Violet doesn’t deserve your love.”
“You’re hung up on what happened ten years ago, so I made myself the one who pulled you out of that hellhole too. Violet could only get you out, but she could never make your shameful past disappear. But I can not only pull you out–I can make your future even brighter.”
Adrian furiously slapped Seraphina again.
“You’re absolutely insane.”
Seraphina covered her face, tears in her eyes: “Adrian, you’d treat me like this for that bitch?!”
Her calling Violet a bitch over and over was adding fuel to the fire.
Adrian cut her off: “Enough! Seraphina, I thought you were different. Turns out you’re just another vicious person who uses family power to get
what you want.”
