Chapter 12: The Trap

Chapter 12: The Trap

(Elena’s POV

Evening shadows stretched across the Northern Territory Central Healing Institute as I finished organizing my patient files. The day’s humiliation still burned in my chest like silver polson

Sophia appeared at my office door, carrying a stack of official documents. Her smile was sickeningly sweet

Elena, I need you to handle something important, she said, placing the papers on my desk. There’s a dinner meeting tonight about the new pack medical facility construction project.”

I frowned, scanning the documents. They looked legitimate, bearing official territorial seals

You’ll be negotiating with territorial officials,” Sophia continued. It’s crucial for securing funding

Why aren’t you handling this yourself?I asked suspiciously

Sophia’s expression turned apologetic. Marcus specifically said all your work now falls under my

supervision. This is part of your new responsibilities.”

My hands clenched into fists. Marcus had used his Alpha influence to place me under her authority. The

humiliation cut deeper than any physical wound

Fine,I said through gritted teeth. Where’s the meeting?”

Silver Moon Hotel, fifth floor, private room 503, Sophia replied, her eyes gleaming with something I couldn’t

identify. Seven o’clock sharp.”

The Silver Moon Hotel’s fifth floor felt eerily quiet as I approached room 503. Something felt wrong, but

pushed down my instincts

I knocked and entered, expecting to see territorial officials in business suits. Instead, several unfamiliar men

turned to stare at me with predatory gazes

A blueshirted man with a crew cut and yellowed teeth blocked my path to the door. Well, well. You’re even

prettier than promised.”

Terror shot through my veins. 1 think there’s been a mistake. I’m here for a business meeting.”

The men laughed crudely. One of them waved a wad of cash. We paid good money for your company tonight

sweetheart.”

The realization hit me like a thunderbolt. The documents were genuine, but the dinner was an elaborate trap

Sophia had orchestrated this entire nightmare

Let me leave,I demanded, backing toward the door

The blueshirted man grabbed my arm. Not so fast. We haven’t had our fun yet.”

They forced a glass of red wine to my lips. I struggled, but their grip was too strong. The alcohol burned down my throat as I choked and gasped

When one man reached for me with filthy hands, I grabbed an empty bottle and smashed it over the blueshirted man’s head. Glass shattered, and he howled in pain

Chapter 12 The Trap

I bolted from the room, my heart pounding like a war drum

The hotel corridors blurred as I ran, the alcohol making me dizzy and weak. My legs felt like lead, and my

vision swayed dangerously

I collapsed in the hallway, tears streaming down my face. Help me! Please, someone help?”

Hotel staff hurried past, their eyes averted. No one wanted to get involved in pack politics

The blueshirted man appeared around the corner, blood trickling from his scalp. His eyes burned with rage

You little b***h,he snarled, raising his hand to strike

Suddenly, Nathan Sterling appeared with two bodyguards. His usually carefree expression was deadly

senous

Touch her and die, Nathan commanded, his voice carrying unexpected Alpha authority

The blueshirted man hesitated, recognizing the Sterling family crest on Nathan’s jacket

Nathan’s bodyguards restrained the man while Nathan knelt beside me. Elena, are you hurt?”

Who hired you?Nathan demanded of the blueshirted man

The man spat blood. Someone with powerful backing. I can’t afford to cross them.”

Though he wouldn’t name names, I already knew the answer. Sophia had orchestrated this entire ordeal

At the hospital’s emergency room, Nathan gently cleaned the cuts on my hands while I sat in stunned

silence

Your phone,he said, returning the device I’d left behind during my escape. Professor Theodore asked me to look after you. He treats you like his beloved granddaughter.”

I looked up, confused. Why don’t you seek his help? The old professor would protect you fiercely.”

I don’t want to trouble him,I deflected, though something in Nathan’s tone suggested Professor Ashworth

held more influence than I realized

As we prepared to leave the hospital, I spotted a familiar black sedan parked at the main entrance

My blood ran cold. Marcus’s car
