Chapter 176: Tonight She is Indeed Very Touching
(Elena’s POV)
Adrian Whitmore scrutinized Sandy Parker, seemingly unconvinced. As he pressed the call button, Sandy Parker scrambled off the bed and knelt before him, begging desperately.
“Don’t call the pack enforcement! Everything I said is true, I didn’t know it was a silver viperling, I thought it was just a regular snake!”
Her voice cracked with terror as she clutched at Adrian’s sleeve. Tears streamed down her face, leaving dark mascara tracks on her cheeks.
Samuel Whitmore closed his eyes, his jaw clenched tight. When he opened thern again, his gaze was cold and disappointed.
“Why did you do this, Sandy?”
Sandy Parker’s shoulders shook as she sobbed. “I didn’t want to be sent away! I only intended to scare Elena with the snake, hoping to be seen as a savior and allowed to stay.”
She wiped her nose with the back of her hand. “I swear I didn’t know it was venomous! I’m afraid of snakes myself – I never even opened the box!”
Adrian remained unmoved, his expression skeptical. “Your story is convenient. Too convenient.”
Hugo Ashworth surprisingly interjected, his voice calm and analytical. “She’s not lying.”
Everyone turned to look at him in surprise. Hugo continued with clinical detachment.
“If she knew it was a venomous snake, she wouldn’t have been foolish enough to get bitten herself. She
seemed genuinely unaware that the snake came from her box, acting like any other bystander until she was
attacked.”
Sandy Parker seized on this lifeline desperately. “Yes! Exactly! I had no idea the snake was mine! I was just as
shocked as everyone else!”
She pressed her palms together in a pleading gesture. “I swear on my life, I didn’t know!”
I
stepped forward, my voice cutting through her desperate pleas. “Who gave you the snake, Sandy?”
Sandy hesitated, her eyes darting around the room like a trapped animal. Finally, she whispered, “Miss
Sophia.”
My blood ran cold. The pieces clicked together in my mind with terrifying clarity.
“Did Sophia Rivers also instigate the car accident?” I asked directly.
Sandy’s expression changed drastically. Her face went white as a sheet, and she couldn’t meet my eyes. The
silence stretched between us like a taut wire.
Samuel Whitmore’s voice exploded with rage. “The car accident? You’re talking about attempted murder!”
Sandy realized the gravity of what she’d revealed. Panic flooded her features as she scrambled backward on the hospital bed.

Her voice rose to a desperate shriek. “I was just following orders! I never meant for anyone to get seriously hurt!”
Samuel’s face twisted with disgust. He turned away from her, unable to look at her pathetic display any longer.
“Save your explanations for the pack enforcement,” he said coldly before walking out of the room.
Sandy collapsed onto the bed, her body wracked with sobs. She knew she was finished. There would be no mercy, no second chances.
Adrian stayed behind to handle Sandy Parker’s situation while Hugo and I returned to the lodge. The night air felt cool against my skin as we walked in comfortable silence.
Back at the lodge, Hugo turned to me with an appreciative smile. “That gown really suits you perfectly.
I was genuinely surprised. Hugo rarely complimented anyone, preferring to keep his observations to himself.
“I didn’t expect you to compliment anyone,” I said, raising an eyebrow.
Hugo’s expression grew more serious. “I don’t compliment just anyone. Only you.”
The intensity in his amber eyes caught me off guard. For a moment, I thought I saw something deeper there- an emotion that made my heart skip a beat.
Was I imagining things? The way he looked at me felt different somehow, more meaningful than simple friendship.
(Hugo’s POV)
She looked away, clearly flustered by my words. I couldn’t help but chuckle at her reaction.
“Do you find it cheesy?” I asked, genuinely curious about her thoughts.
Elena smiled wryly, tilting her head. “What do you think?”
I nodded in agreement. “Pretty cheesy, I’ll admit.”
We reached our respective rooms and exchanged quiet goodnights. As Elena disappeared behind her door, I paused before entering my own room.
Looking back at where she’d stood, I acknowledged the truth in my compliment. She had been genuinely beautiful tonight, radiant in a way that took my breath away.
But I also knew that confessing my growing feelings could ruin the friendship we’d built. Some truths were
better left unspoken, at least for now.
(God’s POV)
The next morning, Diana Blackwood sat in the Secondary Manor Great Hall, her coffee growing cold as
Isabella delivered the shocking news.
“Elena is the Whitmore family’s long–lost daughter,” Isabella said, her voice hollow with defeat.
Diana’s cup clattered against the saucer. “What? That’s impossible!”
Isabella had spent a sleepless night processing this devastating revelation. Dark circles shadowed her eyes,

and her usually perfect appearance was disheveled.
“The person I always looked down upon has become the Whitmore family’s precious darling,” Isabella whispered bitterly.
Her voice cracked with the weight of her realization. “My past actions toward Elena have completely alienated Adrian Whitmore. I’ve ruined any chance of mating into their family.”
Diana stared at her daughter in horror. The implications were staggering not only had they lost a potential alliance, but they’d made enemies of one of the most powerful families in the territory.
Isabella’s shoulders sagged with despair. “Even if I somehow managed to mate into the family now, my life would be miserable. Adrian will never forgive how I treated his sister.”
The future that had once seemed so bright and promising now lay in ruins around them.
