Chapter 194: She said she was going back
(God’s POV)
Alexander Blackwood’s movement of straightening his collar stopped abruptly. His face darkened with displeasure.
“What nonsense are you talking about?” he demanded, his voice sharp with irritation.
Victoria Blackwood’s pent–up emotions for over a decade erupted at this moment like a dam bursting. Her
eyes blazed with years of suppressed pain and resentment.
“Do you have any idea in your heart whether I’m talking nonsense or not?” she screamed, her voice cracking
with emotion.
“Ever since I gave birth to Marcus, have you ever looked at me, your mate, properly!” The words poured out of
her like poison she’d been holding back for years.
“If I weren’t from a prestigious lineage, you would have severed our mate bond long ago!”
Alexander’s chest heaved rapidly. A hint of anger flickered in his brows and eyes as he processed her
accusations.
He shook off her grasping hand with more force than necessary. “How old are you, still making trouble out of
nothing?”
“How old are you,” Victoria repeated his words, her voice choking with bitter laughter. The phrase ignited
something dangerous in her eyes.
“Yes ah, I became your mate at twenty–six years old, gave birth to Marcus at twenty–eight, now I’m fifty–eight!”
Her voice rose with each word, decades of pain spilling out uncontrolled. “Trapped in the Blackwood family
as this Luna for half my life, being a mate and mother!”
“My flower–like appearance eventually faded because of the years, and you haven’t changed much,” she continued, tears streaming down her cheeks.
“It’s normal that you dislike me. After all, I’m not as beautiful as that she–wolf, not as gentle as her, don’t
know how to please you!”
Her voice cracked completely. “So you can’t forget this first love, can you?”
Alexander’s face darkened further. He turned away from her breakdown, his jaw clenched tight with
suppressed emotion.
“What’s past is past with her already,” he said coldly, ignoring her madness. “Even if you resent me, there’s no
need to keep harping on it.”
He walked around her trembling form and left straight away. His footsteps echoed in the empty study like
gunshots.
Victoria raised her head slowly. She wiped the tears from her cheeks with shaking hands, laughing very sadly.
The sound was hollow and broken, echoing off the study walls like a wounded animal’s cry
Chapter 194 She said she was going back
(Elena Blackwood’s POV)
I never imagined that just for a trip back to Riverside City, the father and son would both set off together. The entire situation felt surreal and overwhelming.
Because they were bringing a private medical team, the Blackwood family chartered a plane. I could only cancel my originally booked ticket with resignation.
The plane, scheduled for 10:00 AM, arrived at 12:30 PM. The Blackwood family, with their team, checked into
an international hotel in grand style.
The Blackwood family also covered the accommodation expenses for the team’s medical staff. Their wealth and influence were on full display.
We stayed in the presidential suite on the top floor, which had six bedrooms. The luxury was almost
suffocating in its opulence.
Besides the three of us, there were also the attending physician and Assistant Carter. The suite felt crowded despite its enormous size.
Assistant Carter was Alexander Blackwood’s subordinate, having followed him for over ten years. He could be said to be the most trusted member of Alexander’s inner circle.
After the check–in arrangements were completed, the attending physician drew Marcus Blackwood’s blood. His subordinates were sent to a hospital where he had acquaintances to test the blood routine.
Marcus took his medicine obediently. After the doctor went out, Alexander turned to look at me with
calculating eyes.
“If you’re really worried about your foster parents‘ son, I can also have him brought to your side,” he offered.
I was stunned by his suggestion. Bringing David Blackthorne to their side would be a threat I couldn’t ignore.
I kept a straight face, forcing my voice to remain steady. “Thank you, Alpha Alexander, but there’s no need to
trouble.you.”
“I can have my foster brother come and pick him up,” I added quickly.
Alexander then remembered that I had been recognized by the Whitmore family. I was the foster daughter of
Adrian Whitmore from Riverside City.
He didn’t force the issue any further, simply nodding his acknowledgment.
After Alexander went out to answer a phone call, I slightly composed myself. The tension in my shoulders
began to ease.
However, Marcus noticed my relief immediately. He smiled faintly, his golden eyes studying my face.
“Are you afraid that we’ll use David to threaten you?” he asked directly.
I said bluntly, “It’s not like you haven’t threatened me before.”
“When are you going to see him? Marcus asked, shifting to sit up in bed.
“Now,” I replied firmly.
“Then I’ll go with you…” he began, starting to rise from the bed.
“You can’t-“I protested immediately.
Chapter 194 She said she was going back
Seeing him get up despite his condition, I reached out to push him back onto the bed. I inadvertently stepped
on his foot in my haste.
My whole body tilted and fell with him onto the soft mattress. The world spun as we tumbled together.
Marcus looked at me on top of him, momentarily dazed. The heat in his body faintly rose as our bodies pressed together.
I was stunned for more than ten seconds, my mind completely blank. Then I quickly sat up from on top of him, turning my face away in embarrassment.
“You should rest well, don’t burn yourself out,” I said hastily. “The Blackwood family would blame it on me.” Marcus pursed his lips in silence. He seemed to be savoring the lingering warmth in his embrace, his eyes distant and thoughtful.
“I promised your mother I would accompany you through your treatment. It’s not like I won’t be back,” I said quickly.
I hurriedly went out the door without waiting for him to reply. My heart was racing from the unexpected
contact.
(Marcus Blackwood’s POV)
My heart was in a daze from her touch. The warmth of her body against mine lingered like a phantom sensation.
My lips slightly rose in a trace of an arc. She said she was going back.
The words echoed in my mind with unexpected hope. For the first time in months, something resembling happiness stirred in my chest.
