Chapter 210: Indeed Something’s Wrong
Chapter 210: Indeed Something’s Wrong
(Elena Blackwood’s POV)
Sophia Rivers concealed the unnaturalness on her face and lightly snorted. “I heard you went back to Northern Territory to recognize your relatives. You’re back so soon?”
Her tone carried that familiar air of strained civility. The kind that barely masked the animosity simmering
beneath the surface.
A research technician nearby looked up from her work station. She had clearly been listening to our exchange, probably confirming the rumors of discord between us healers.
I halted before Sophia, my expression unwavering. “You know so much about my affairs. You must have put in a lot of effort behind the scenes, right?”
The accusation hung in the air between us like a blade waiting to fall.
Sophia feigned innocence with practiced ease. She dismissed my insinuation with a laugh that sounded hollow in the sterile laboratory air.
“I really don’t know what ‘Healer Elena‘ means by that.”
I turned to the research technician without missing a beat. “Could you give us a moment alone, please?”
The technician nodded quickly and gathered her materials. She clearly wanted no part of whatever confrontation was brewing between us.
Once we were alone, I shed the pretense of politeness entirely. My tone hardened like steel cooling in winter
air.
“Whether you really don’t understand or not is no longer important. Even if you escape today, you won’t escape tomorrow.”
Sophia’s smile faltered for just a moment. Then she retorted with false bravado.
“You’re not here to warn me, are you?”
I offered no direct answer. The silence stretched between us, heavy with unspoken threats.
Sophia closed the distance between us. She lowered her voice to a conspiratorial whisper that made my skin.
crawl.
“It’s a pity, you can’t do anything to me. Even if you are the daughter of the Whitmore family, I’m not afraid of you.”
Her eyes glittered with malicious satisfaction. “Who will win in the end is still uncertain!”
I clenched my fists instinctively. The deliberate provocation was working exactly as she intended.
To react violently under surveillance would play directly into her hands. She wanted me to lose control, to
give her ammunition against me.
I slowly unclenched my fists. A faint smile graced my lips as Sophia turned to leave.

Chapter 210 Indeed Something’s Whong
“Aren’t you curious about the identity of your biological parents?”
The question was a carefully aimed barb. I watched as it hit its target with perfect precision.
Sophia froze mid–step. Suspicion clouded her features as she processed my words.
After a moment, she scoffed with forced indifference. “I’m an orphan, where would I get parents!”
Her voice rose slightly, betraying her agitation. “Even if I did have them, they didn’t raise me, so what does it
have to do with me?”
I simply smiled, offering no further explanation. Sometimes the most powerful weapon was silence.
As I watched Sophia’s retreating figure, my smile faded. It was replaced by a thoughtful frown that creased
my brow
Regardless of her outward reaction, the seed of doubt had been planted. It would grow in the darkness of her mind, feeding on her insecurities.
I turned my attention to the research report on the desk. The data swirled before my eyes as I lost myself in
thought.
(Sophia Rivers’s POV)
Back in my healing office, my face betrayed the inner turmoil I was desperately trying to hide. I cursed Elena’s unexpected arrival under my breath.
Her timing had been perfect, thwarting my attempt to photograph the crucial research data. Felix would not be pleased with my failure.
But Elena’s final question lingered in my mind like a persistent ache. What did she know about my biological
parents?
I bit my lip hard enough to taste blood. The notion was ridiculous, I told myself firmly.
I had never met my biological parents. They had abandoned me as an infant, leaving me to fend for myself.
They meant nothing to me now. I couldn’t allow Elena to manipulate me with empty promises and half–truths.
(Elena Blackwood’s POV)
Meanwhile, I was at my desk reviewing the latest batch of experimental data. The numbers told a story, but I
needed to understand the full narrative.
Research Technician Irene approached my workstation with hesitant steps. Her expression suggested she
had something important to discuss.
I looked up from my calculations. “What can I help you with, Irene?”
“I wanted to ask about Healer Sophia’s visit to your lab earlier,” she said carefully.
I set down my pen and gave her my full attention. “What specifically did she tell you about her reason for being there?”
Irene shifted uncomfortably. “She claimed Professor Andrew Kelly sent her to review the research results.”
My brow furrowed in immediate suspicion. That explanation made no sense whatsoever.
Professor Andrew Kelly was intimately familiar with every aspect of the werewolf healing nanotechnology

research. He wouldn’t need Sophia to review results he already knew.
Something was definitely amiss. The pieces of this puzzle were starting to form a disturbing picture.
Irene sensed my unease immediately. She asked cautiously, “Is anything wrong, Healer Elena?”
I placed the research report on the table with deliberate calm. “It’s nothing, just asking.”
After Irene left, I retrieved a previously discarded research report from my desk drawer. The document felt heavy in my hands.
I spread both reports side by side on my desk. The numerical values were remarkably similar, yet the
outcomes were drastically different.
Sophia might have seen the current report during her unauthorized visit. But my timely intervention had likely
prevented her from manipulating the actual data.
Even with Sophia’s exceptional memory, it would be impossible for her to recall every single detail. The
research was too complex, too nuanced for perfect recollection.
(God’s POV)
Two days later, Research Technician Irene headed towards the database with the latest research results. His
footsteps echoed in the empty corridor.
Sophia emerged from behind a wall like a predator stalking prey. She moved with calculated precision.
“Research Technician Irene,” she called out, stopping him in his tracks.
Irene turned to face her with polite attention. Sophia’s gaze swept over the documents in his hand with barely
concealed hunger.
“This is the werewolf healing nanotechnology research report, right?” she inquired with false casualness.
“Yes, I’m just about to take it to the database,” Irene confirmed without suspicion.
Sophia smiled with practiced warmth. “I’m going to the database as well. Why don’t I take it for you?”
Irene hesitated, uncertainty flickering across his features. “Well…”
“Research Technician Irene, we are all from the experimental center,” Sophia continued with sincere
expression.
Her voice carried just the right note of helpful collegiality. “You don’t think I would run off with the data, do
you?”
She paused for effect. “Professor Andrew Kelly is my teacher. I just saw that you have been working hard
recently, so I am offering to take it for you.”
After a moment’s hesitation, Irene relented to her persuasive charm. “Alright then, please trouble ‘Healer Sophia‘.”
Sophia smiled as she accepted the documents with steady hands. “Don’t worry.”
As Research Technician Irene departed down the corridor, Sophia’s smile vanished instantly. It was replaced by a sinister expression as she stared at the documents in her hand.
