He smiled then, the boy I’d first loved flickering through the years of pain. His light faded in my arms, but hope did not

The council rushed forward; Hazel and Sophia made a final, wild run for the doors but were caught by Mia and Adrian, dragged before the room to face their fate. I stood, bloody and wild, voice broken but clear

You wanted to brand me traitor. Instead, your secrets are your undoing.”

The verdict was swift and public. Fred and Felix Xavierthieves, kidnappers, abusers- sentenced to life in the Silvergate dungeons, never to see the moon’s true face again. Hazel Green and Sophia Riversbanished, marked and notorious, stripped of pack and family, left to wander the cold world as outcast wolves

Celeste was carried to safety, clutching my hand. She would have choices now, a future only her own. Rachel and Oliver embracedfound family, no longer pawns in another’s game

I should have felt only relief. Yet the wound in my heartMarcus’s sacrificethrobbed with loss long after the light of victory faded. For weeks, I wandered, drifting between council and chambers, healing others but never myself

It was Hugo who found me in the gardens, one icy morning as dawn pinked the frost. He sat beside me silently, letting me cry. When the tears were spent, he handed me a single white

rose

Elena,he said quietly, the moon doesn’t only bring endings. Sometimes, she turns the tide, and what was lost returnschanged, but full of new promise.”

I smiled, bittersweet, but for the first time in months the ache eased. Hugo’s steady presence, his gentle wisdom, his unwavering supportthese things tethered me back to life

Spring came at last. At a council gathering under the full moon, Hugo took my hand before all the packs. Elena Blackwood,” he said, will you stand beside me as Lunanot hidden by anyone’s shadow, but as my equal, my mate?”

My heart soared, an answer forming as naturally as breath. Yes, Hugo. Yes, a thousand times.”

The celebration lasted deep into the night. Mia danced with Adrian, Rachel toasted with Oliver, and Dorotheamy mothersmiled through tears, her mind finally clear enough to

recognize the joy around her. The Whitmores and Ashworths, after years of old grudges, finally found peace

Hugo and I were married by moonlight, with Celeste and Mia as our witnesses. Months later, the miracle we never dared dream arrived: twins, a boy and a girl, both healthy and fierce, with my dark hair and Hugo’s clever eyes. When my mother, frail for so long, first held them in her arms, her old vivacity returned. Laughter and light, absent for so many years, filled our house

once more

The Ashworths and Whitmores flourishedour new generation raised with love, not fear. Our family grew, bound not by blood alone but by the choices we’d made to fight for each other. The packs healed, too, united at last not by dominance or tradition, but by the forgiveness and hope we fought so hard to earn

Sometimes, standing on the porch as the moon rose above the pines, I’d feel Marcus’s spirit nearby. He was gone, yesbut his final act, his love, opened the way for all our second chances. I would honor him by living bravely, and by loving fiercely

I close my eyes, feeling Hugo’s arms enfold me, the laughter of my children echoing from inside the house. For the first time, I’m not haunted by what I lost. I am Lunanot of any one man, or title, or past, but of myself, of my pack, of the family we built together

And as the Moon Goddess shines down with gentle pride, I know this truth as surely as the rising dawn: no darkness lasts forever, not with love enough to face it

Dear Author, grateful your story had a beginning and end. I enjoyed it, but was disappointed in Marcus’ fate. I was even disappointed in the punishment of Sophia. She should have remained locked up for life and not allowed to roam free even if it was under those extreme conditions—someone that evil and unscrupulous can always find a way if left to roam free. Regardless, the story having a beginning and ending made this a satisfying read that I would recommend.
